I started working with Superstar Service Dogs in 2024 after talking with several trainers and organizations around the country. From the beginning it was clear that Jackie knew what she was doing and sincerely cared about others and their needs (she even told me what I should ask if I decided to go with someone else) and those were the two main factors in my decision to go with her even though I live several hours away. Jackie and her team found a good breeder, assessed puppies and chose the one with the best potential (and Juniper has turned out to be truly exceptional). Because of the distance I was not able to be there in person very often but after an initial bonding period where I was provided excellent directions on basic training for her I used an amazing transporter to take Juniper back and forth for training and visits home every month. Jackie and everyone who works with Superstar Service Dogs took EXCELLENT care of Juniper. I never worried for a second about her care and any time I asked for updates or had questions, I received quick responses. When I did training sessions either via zoom or when I was able to go in-person, Jackie made sure I knew not just what to do but why it should be done that way. Juniper is now home and I'm still learning to work with her. Jackie has been very responsive and provides support and makes time to zoom with me and Juniper. From start to finish (and post-graduation) I have been certain that this was the right choice of trainer. I have felt cared about, my dog knows what she's doing even if I don't yet and Juniper clearly enjoyed herself while living and training there (she definitely misses playing with the other dog friends she had). I cannot say enough good things about Jackie and everyone who was involved in the training of my dog. I would absolutely recommend Superstar Service Dogs to anyone! Additional note: I have also posted this review to google. I want to add an addendum for yelp because of the 1 star review. I saw that review before deciding to work with Superstar Service dogs and inquired about it. The response that I got was also a major contribution to my decision. I felt my question about that review was taken seriously and it's been so long that I can't remember what the response was precisely but it was addressed respectfully without malice towards the reviewer. I'd like to start off saying that Jackie and the entire SuperStar team have been an absolute God send for me and my pups. When I first went to meet Jackie I was so nervous and my anxiety was really bad. But the second I got to her place, Jackie and another trainer came out to greet me. I instantly relaxed and for once I actually felt comfortable around other people. Jackie made me feel safe and I wasn't scared anymore. Her method of training was extremely positive and my first pup responded to it amazingly. Here is another big plus, both my pups absolutely adore Jackie, and they go crazy with excitement when they find out that we are going to puppy club and training. Jackie's method of training might not be for everyone, but it's certainly worked for me and everyone else I've seen train with her. I will always only have positive things to say about her and her business. I could go on and on about how amazing Jackie and her team are, and how much they have helped change my life for the better. If I could give more than five stars, I'd give her a thousand stars! I absolutely recommend her to anyone wanting their pups trained positively and want to meet some fantastic people. I also want to add, that because of Jackie and her team, my hero Cash is very close to becoming my fully trained service dog. Jackie is the third professional trainer I have worked with and has been very effective with both our dogs, one training to be a service dog, and one working on fear and anxiety challenges. She and the rest of the staff are very knowledgeable about dog behavior, effective training methods, and the laws concerning SDiT. For example, I learned that Iowa state law allows SDiT to be in public spaces with their trainer, just as trained service dogs are. I've also learned the importance of socialization, even for service dogs. For example, if the dog needs to alert someone aside from the handler, like if the handler is unconscious and needs help, then allowing them to practice going to other people is helpful and necessary. Jackie is patient and flexible. She listens when I give my own reasons for changing a command or tweaking a training approach a certain way, and then talks through pros and cons of the choices. Very personalized service and a welcoming environment. And most importantly, both dogs have shown such growth and improvement. read more

Jackie is the fourth trainer I took my dog to and I was really at my wits end. I couldn't go anywhere with him because he would bark and lunge, complete with hackles. Jackie was able to quickly diagnose that his behavior was due to fear. He'd had no socialization as a puppy because of everything being shut down, and then when we started trying to be out and about, he was attacked by an off-leash dog. We've had lessons with Jackie and attend group sessions, and his behavior has improved greatly! He's still a bit wary, but content to sit quietly and watch the other dogs now. Jackie is a fantastic trainer and has been phenomenal to work with! During the integration with Winny (Full name Winston) her concern was about the cohesion between us and having a good family unit. He was well disciplined and handled not only my 5 year old son well but also our cats (which he has had very limited exposure to). As well he has been introduced to other dogs and has been extremely well-behaved. As a first time dog owner I was unsure of what to expect, but Jackie and her services at Superstar Service Dogs are phenomenal and have made me into a dog person. read more

My daughter started bringing our first dog and they realized she wouldn't be a good fit to be a service dog. They were able to locate one that would work that was within reasonable driving distance. They spent hours talking with the breeder and making sure that the dog would be able to do the tasks my daughter needed. My daughter has seen improvement already and the puppy hasn't been in training very long. Communication has been great. Jackie is clear and concise with the expectations upfront. They are willing to answer questions anytime and not just during trainings. read more

We were looking for a training place to work with our golden doodle. We live 20 min away and it's worth every mile to drive. We've learned a lot about his behavior, our daughter's behavior and what will suit them best. It's fun to learn about your dog and how they process everything. We are very happy to be able to attend a facility that works at our pace ad understands our daughter with her needs. Some I didn't know existed. They are great with any breed. I love the relationship my dog has with them. My dog has grown into a great dog that helps me with my needs of service. SSD found me the perfect pup to be my service dog. They worked with me on my price range for my pup and found one on the range I gave. Kai is now 2 years old and is soooo smart he is amazing at his jobs I will definitely be continuing touch up classes and come back for my next service dog.
