Code says you can not pass a 4 inch diameter sphere through the openings. The mesh I used is 1 7/8 x 3 7/8 inch wire opening. The wire gauge is 1/4 diameter. He is knowledgeable about Pittsburgh-area homes and what to look for based on the time period in which a home was built.
