Filled baps sell for just £1.50, and some of the best examples of rock cakes, chelsea buns or fluffy iced buns I've had, at the startingly low price of 75p. They also sell bread which I haven't tried. On a Saturday it competes with the array of bakery stalls at Barnes Food Fair and despite the undoubted quality and variety of the goods at the latter, the Parish Bakery holds its own, even at its low price point. There are only three or four items that have the prices on them and everything is entered into the till and calculated manually by them. The problem is the sainsburies next door sells almost everything they do and for much cheaper. They charge double for a bag of crisps and a drink in the bakery. This bakery would be worth it if there was actually baking done but there isn't. Even the sausages taste like the cheapest ones you can buy. In short, you're better off popping into one of the other shops along the high street where things are actually made freshly.

The interior is cozy and quaint; it doesn't hold an enormous amount of people, but I've never seen it completely full, either, so chances are you'd be able to snag a seat here, no problem. They also have a few tables and chairs outside, if that's your preference. During the lockdown, I fell in love with their toasties, (the avocado and halloumi toastie is amazeballs), but now that their full menu is back on, I had to rave some more about the sheer deliciousness of it all. While a bit more expensive than the smaller toasties, some of their more decadent options are definitely worth the price. My top 2 (thus far), are the Capuchin and Grivet. The Capuchin is a hefty portion of sweet potato hash topped with a perfectly-balanced mix of chorizo, seedless jalapeños, pomegranate seeds, a poached egg, and a side of sweet chili chutney. It may sound weird, but trust me it works. Crispy, sweet, salty, spicy... a symphony of flavors in your mouth. The Grivet is a smaller- yet no less filling- dish in the form of a breakfast sandwich filled with a generous serving of thick-cut bacon, poached egg, sweet chili chutney, finished with a slathering of creamy avocado, all wedged in between a soft brioche bun. It's a breakfast of champions, any time of the day. The rest of their menu still includes the old favorites, like pancakes & waffles, smoothies & cold-pressed juices, full breakfast plates, toasties, and of course, coffee & tea. The tea sandwiches were not traditional tea sandwiches. The cake (I picked carrot cake) was delicious but much too rich and sweet after accompanying the rest of the tea tray. When I went to ask where my order was, there was no apology, just a reply 'it's coming' as if it was reasonable to keep someone waiting so long. When my coffee finally arrived it had syrup in it. I took it back and politely asked them to change it. They denied that there was syrup in there - basically accusing me of lying. I asked for a refund. They were reluctant to refund me and behaved as if I was being unreasonable. The money was eventually put on the counter with a bad attitude and there was no apology. What a predicament tis that I must choose one or two. Walking by we couldn't help but notice the window display. So many tasty treats to tempt the eye and stomach of each and every street goer. We decided to purchase a few items. It is hard to remember the items that we purchased. We took our take away and continued to tour Greenwich and other stops before making it back to our hostel. Upon our arrival our desserts did not appear as when we left due to the jostling along the way. But, the treats were still tasty and delectable. They hit the spot.
