Although the avocado was fresh, the mushrooms were raw, which was a bit surprising. The owner is a very nice and friendly man. My friend, him and I had a nice intense conversation about traveling, food and surfing. He even gave us advice on where to go to a secluded spot at the beach in surfside. The owner can seem a bit rash when talking to, but I think it's because that's how he expresses himself. The location seems like it could use some cleaning, it looked a bit dusty. Cruising in a golf cart on the main strip by the beach? Sure!…read more Never did it before so let's goooo! The staff was friendly and it was easy to reserve. Got 2 hours for 80$ which was a deal compared to the other rental places around. We rented out a 6 seater which was perfect for the fam bam. The max speed was 35mph so there were a few streets that was off limits due to minimum speed of 40mph or above, a map was provided to show the restrictions. A lot of Galveston Island could still be occupied with the golf cart. We stayed mostly on Seawall (street by the ocean) as it was the most scenic route to us. Must drive on the right side as that is the slow lane. Our cart had a newly placed speaker that had bluetooth capability and we really enjoyed bumping our tunes. The whole family enjoyed the ride and definitely marks a memory for a different experience. When we returned the cart, we wanted to purchase a funnel cake but they said the kitchen was closed. A worker came out and offered us an order of deep fried Oreos (6 came in an order) for free since someone didn't pick it up, and they were delicious! Thanks for the great service! Will keep this spot in mind if we return!

I have seen the strip mall literally evolve around surfhouse. Much respect to the owners and (developers?!?) for making sure this landmark and epic shop didn't get pushed out. Yesterday I called and a real person who knows what's what gave me the rundown on their longboard skateboard inventory. No way l was going to order online a China made knock off for this important purchase. Slid in to and found the perfect sled, USA made gravity longboard that I bought for my son as his Christmas gift. It is the same shape as his hand me down that is almost 25 years old that he cruises to class on every day. Love the Surfhouse. Here is to 50 more years!!!

I own a shortboard but Texas surf most of the time isn't strong enough for me to get up on my board, so I always rely on Breaker sports to rent me one of their longboards. Prices aren't bad either, it's $12 per day with a $12 deposit for the boards. I can't remember the rental price for wetsuits, it has been a while since I rented one as I purchased my own wetsuit and spring suit a year or two ago. In addition to their rentals they also have a nice size selection of boards and gear to buy. I would much rather buy from them than take the risk of buying something that is misleading online. It is a family owned business so you get that family type of atmosphere as soon as you enter the store.
