This place is amazing. Very organized, very clean, great staff. They take excellent care of you. You move through here smoothly and efficiently. You are carefully monitored from the moment you walk in until you go out the door. This was my third surgery here and would highly recommend it. Knowing I was having surgery here eased my mind as I knew it would go well. My check in at the front was very thorough and I was called into the surgery area quickly. I really liked the warm blankets! I counted 7 people that assisted me and each one came up to me and introduced themselves and told me what they were doing that day. (not that I would remember!) My son recently had his tonsils and adenoids removed, and this is where his ENT doctor performed the surgery. We were asked to arrive at 6:55 am for a 7:55 am procedure. The check-in process was smooth; I just had to sign several documents and pay any remaining balance not covered by insurance. After about a 15-minute wait, we were taken to the pre-op room. The nurses and anesthesiologist were fantastic, answering all of my questions thoroughly. The surgery went quickly, and we were out by 10 am. I really just want to review one employee of this place. Because they bring in so many different professionals it's not fair to block them all together. My provider and his employees are excellent. April, who works for the Surgery Center, however, has a poor understanding of her job and a smug attitude. We are scheduled for part two of a three part procedure. She calls the day before the procedure to inform us that they won't be able to continue with the procedure because they don't accept our secondary insurance. Our primary insurance covers very well! And just like with step one procedure, we gladly pay what is not covered. She said no. That's not an option. That if they don't accept our secondary insurance they just can't provide care to us. I asked if there was someone else I could speak with because I don't believe that is accurate. She snuggly says, I wish I could help you but there is really nothing else I can do. But I would think you would want to go somewhere that took both of your instances so you don't have to pay anything. I called an insurance specialist who said the only problem is their comprehension. I also called the referring physician who said that it is not an issue. The physicians using this place should strongly be advised to go somewhere with more professional staff! read more

Absolutely no communication or information before we arrived before surgery. We checked in and the lady told me we had to pay almost $1000 or else they'd cancel his surgery. His surgeon's office had this same policy but they informed us at time of scheduling, as well as included it in their info packet as well as called and text. We have an HRA so this wasn't a concern. The surgery center never informed us, and couldn't charge my HRA because they hadn't billed insurance yet. I was directed to a second front desk lady and then the office manager (all of which looked dirty and were in hoodies, not looking medical professional at all) and they couldn't care less what I had to say, they made my sick son wait for hours while they gave me a run around. They even called my HRA, verified my funds, but were told they needed to bill ins first so then they tried telling me to pay out of pocket and apply for a reimbursement. After bringing up ethical laws (I'm in healthcare) and requesting to speak to the director, they finally agreed to let me pay a deposit. I got back in line to pay, a wonderful lady in scrubs, hair not in a mess and came to work looking like she works at a surgery center pulled me to assist. I gave her my card, she processed it and then asked about a payment plan which I explained the HRA situation. She then reversed my transaction and said no problem, pay when we bill insurance! My son went into his surgery 3 hours late because of the stubbornness and stupidity of the office manager who would rather act like a bulldog than provide healthcare professionalism. The place was also filthy with full trash bins, garbage all over, ripped and dirty furniture, never washed doors and door handles. This is not sanitary for a surgery center. We were the second in the door so the filth was not from that same day. read more

I recently had a routine procedure done by my doctor at this outpatient surgery center. The staff was friendly, the facility was clean and very modern. Everything went well, until they woke me up after the surgery. I was told I would not be in any intense pain but this was absolutely not the case upon awakening. This is the single most painful event that has taken place in my life to date. When I woke up I was practically in shock at how much pain I was in. I kept asking and asking for some kind of relief, but the nurses said "oh it's not that bad" and"there's nothing I can do for you ". The nurses rushed me out the door to my waiting ride and told me to go to the emergency room if it really hurt that bad. I was in intense pain (sobbing non stop) for over two hours after waking up until I got IV pain killers administered by the amazing staff at banner hospital just up the road from this little shop of horrors. This was the single most traumatic medical treatment I have ever undergone. I have never felt pain like this before, and hope to never feel that pain again. The surgeon couldn't be bothered to help, he was already on to the next patient. I DO NOT recommend this facility to ANYONE. For any reason. STAY AWAY! read more

The center was clean, organized. We arrived an hour and a half before my two year old was scheduled which gave the staff time to check us in, take his vitals and get information. The nurses were very friendly and caring along with the Doctor and Anesthesiologist. Went here a few years ago and they were the BEST-- Now I go and it was very unpleasant- Front office people unfriendly and cold. No one knew the answers to my standard questions. Docs and Director not available of course. Not sure what happened but new group is not impressive at all! We had to do a surgery here for my daughter on Halloween morning and that is no fun for a one year old to go through. We were asked to arrive at 6:30am for a 7:30am surgery, which I feel was a little excessive considering they had to fast over night and it does not take an hour to fill out one simple paperwork along with taking copies of our insurance and making the payment for the surgery itself. We waited and waited and eventually we got called back. Then we had to wait for the doctor doing anesthesia to arrive for the surgery to start... you would think they need to arrive 30 mins prior to surgery time to prep and make sure everything is ready to go.. not the patient waiting for them. Either way, surgery went well and the staff were very friendly. Facility was in a convenient location right off the main road. Plenty of parking spaces. Very clean and waiting room area is spacious with plenty of comfortable seating options. Clear instructions were given before and after the surgery which I truly appreciated. read more

I have visited this facility four times, twice for the removal of defective lenses in my eyes and twice for my wife. Dr. Matsumoto is one of the top eye surgeons in the country and he uses this facility. We have enjoyed our visits here with no hassle, no problems, and very competent staff and front desk. The staff here is amazing. We took our daughter in for surgery on her throat, she's 5. They took great care of her and provided excellent bedside manner for a child scared of hospitals. Her previous experience at another local hospital was horrible, this was a night and day difference. If you're a parent wondering about this place please rest assure they will take good care of your child. I had a procedure here back in 12/15. Yes, 12/15! Just last week, Nov. 3rd 2117 I received a bill for DEC. 4 2015 procedure. I called Surgery Center of Gilbert to find out why I just got the bill. The billing lady could not even know. I Requested an itemize invoice so I find out what insurance paid and also the details of my visit. THEY DO NOT SEND OUT ITEMIZED INVOICES I was told by the billing women said. OH YEAH, by the time I received bill, THEY ALREADY REPORTED LATE PAYMENT ON MY CREDIT REPORT. dONT GO THERE. read more

My son had ear tubes and adenoids removed at the center. Prior to surgery they will give you a pre-op call to discuss billing. At the time they quoted me a price of $1300 but they only had the ear tubes scheduled and not the adenoids. They said the difference in cost would only be a few hundred dollars and that it was their policy to only collect the first amount they quoted me and bill me the difference after surgery. To my surprise the difference was almost double what I already paid and not just a few hundred dollars more. The center responded with "sorry for the miscommunication" and said they keep no records of phone calls with customers and their staff so they wont even tell me who called me and so deceptively misquoted me. What kind of surgery center keeps no phone records of who talked to patients in today's day and age? When you have your surgery you sign a waiver that says no matter what they quote you they can bill you whatever the actual cost is and they hide behind that. That does not give them the right to misquote people which is deceptive, unethical and unprofessional. The point is that this center is sloppy. They obviously don't keep good records and have lazy billing and scheduling practices. You have a right to shop around surgery centers because they all charge different rates...my right to do so was taken away when they misquoted me. So shop around, you have the right in today's medical world to do so and you don't have to go to the center your doctor prefers.. (remember your doctor is not paying the bill, you are). Also, the day of my sons operation they still hadn't gotten the updated order for the adenoid removal and nobody told me. So basically they added that surgery on at the last minute and they said that was normal for them to do so. When it comes to your health or a loved one, do you really want to send them to a place so disorganized and that has sloppy scheduling and billing procedures and takes no accountability for their actions and does not act in good faith? You have the right to know exactly what they are going to charge you and get it in writing because obviously they will tell you one thing and bill you another (and mine was a $1500 discrepancy on what they quoted me and what they charged which is not a small amount). Also in trying to settle this matter with them their staff has been rude and basically says "too bad you signed a waiver." Next time I'll find a surgery center with some integrity..beware of this place! read more

My son had to go for a tonsillectomy. His ENT is Dr Nathan Page. We love Dr Page. He's great with our son. This procedure was done at the Surgery Center of Gilbert. Everyone was great, reception, nurses, they were all very friendly. The facility is very clean. The only thing I'd add would be a vending machine or small type of cafeteria, as we were there for a few hours and some refreshments would be nice. We had no issues with getting him pain medication, in fact, by the time we were brought back, he already had some pain medication. They gave us enough time for him to wake up and be ready to go home. All in all, a very positive experience, especially for an anxious mom of a 3 year old! read more

My 6 year old had tonsil and adenoid surgery 1st week of January 2016. This surgery center collects your insurance deductible upfront before they even do the surgery. After surgery, they collect payment from my insurance company as well. They now owe me reimbursement of over $700. It is now April 21 and I still haven't got my money back. After tens of phone calls for over 60 days they finally agreed to send me a check a few weeks ago . Well it turns out they had the wrong address after they copied it down incorrectly off my license on the day of the surgery so they had to send check last Thursday. 1 week later, I still don't have the check. After speaking with the director of the facility today, she refused to stop payment on those checks. I got firm with her and insisted I come down and get a check today. She refused and said I was harassing her and the office. I'm now in contact with the surgeon to help me. The surgeon and anesthesiologist that performed the surgery didn't collect the deductible up front, they let your insurance figure it all out which is the way it should be. I would never use this surgery center again. Insist that your surgeon use a different facility or you will go through a lot of trouble getting back any over payment. read more
