Patiently listening to my hair hopes, Maria combined experience with expertise and came up with a plan that left my hair soft, manageable, and looking vibrantly healthy! I've never experienced such rude treatment before. I made an appointment for color and style for a wedding and reviews made the place sound good. When I walked in the stylist closest to the entrance looked me up and down turned away and did not say a word to me. I sat down waiting to be attended to, not expecting everyone in this salon to be so rude and inattentive to customers. I was wrong. I really should have left but needed my hair done for the wedding. It took over 10 minutes for someone to come by and say "hello do you have an appointment"?. Even then there was no Welcome, so sorry for delay etc. - I am a normal looking person. I am polite and treat others respectfully. My race or color of my skin shouldn't matter. If simple curtesy is too hard for you don't work with people. Needless to say I will Never go back and Do Not recommend this salon. read more

I had called in requesting for a same day appointment and was able to get in. I recently had a hand injury with stitches so I've been unable to wash my own hair and even blow dry or style it. I came in for a wash and blow dry and Melissa was AMAZING!!!! She made my experience one of the best since needing assistance with washing and blow drying my hair. Melissa was super friendly and went above and beyond my expectations. I walked out of there with my hair feeling super light & she even added curls to my hair so I wouldn't have to worry about trying to do something to my hair for another at least 1-2 days. I wish I had taken a picture of my hair because it looked great. I even had some of my friends asked if I just got my hair colored again, when I only got it washed. I definitely recommend this spot! The place was kind of hard to find: it faces the Trader Joe's lot but Google Maps took me to the Noodles & Co lot. Hi, this is a friendly reminder that this Tuesday when the stylist was booked and filling in for the people, she did not remember to dye my hair or highlight it I was gracious enough to let it go not a big deal. We could always do it next week Namaste things happen I let it go. I tipped her I paid for my service. I called you guys within 18 hours 18 hours of my appointment. So that you knew that I had to care for sick grandchildren that I would be watching them. I honestly thought about bringing my sick twin 2 year old grandchildren into the salon with me and allow them run around so your customers could cough, whine, cry and have their little noses run everywhere know how your elderly and middle age clientele would enjoy having them being present. But I have too much respect for people to be so thoughtless and I love my grandchildren way too much to subject them to going outside when they feel like crap I called you with 18 hours before my session. I was told that the stylus was opened all day and then I was coming back to have something done that was forgot to be done the first time, I really wanted to give you guys the benefit doubt I really wanted to try you guys this Silas gave a great cut but I work in the medical field and there's nothing holding me to the 18 hours 24 hours call before we're going to charge of all I have to do is complain to my Credit card company because you don't have me sign a waiver saying that I agree to it. They have me signing my receipt saying that yet I receive the services there's no way to hold me to it every checked with my Discover card they see the payment it's not even like pending. It was kind of like just sitting there. She said that she wasn't sure what they're gonna do with it but I'll call them tomorrow at 12:15 and if it's there it will be removed. She may have already discussed in detail Your policy and while I understand it stops you're stylist from getting screwed from the person forgot about their session. Hey, I agree charge them or called for hours before their session 2 hours one hour that's fine 24 hours I could have Covid do you want me showing up then? read more

I am writing this review as someone who newly moved into the area and had the most bizarre experience here. I unfortunately had read 'great' reviews of this salon but am posting this as a caution to anyone considering Cristina as their particular stylist. I made an appointment through the website for a partial highlight and haircut (nothing out of the ordinary) with Cristina who appears to have been in the business for awhile but my experience with her makes me question how long she'd been doing hair. I spent a solid 5-10 minutes at the beginning describing what I was looking for with my highlights and color and she seemed to understand, didn't ask for any photos or follow up questions that would make me think what shade of blonde I was looking for was not far from what would be achieved. While highlighting me she offered water at the beginning ( and never brought) and then reminded herself TWICE that she forgot to bring it out, only to go to the back room after I was sitting with foils on and act like she was getting it but not bring it out. I survived but am nearly 40 weeks pregnant and was like a wilted plant walking out of there. I was the last appointment of the night and the salon cleared out so it was just she and I. At times she was friendly but then seemed cold and uninterested in being there/or trying to develop a relationship (I said I was looking for a new home salon multiple times). She'd bizarrely disappear into the back room for what seemed like long periods of time and halfway through my appointment she told me we were 'getting close to time so she wasn't going to be able to finish my appointment and I'd need to come back another day.' Mind you, I'm 39+ weeks pregnant, hadn't asked for anything different or that I hadn't booked for -- in my 20+years of having my hair highlighted have never once had a stylist tell me something along this line especially when you pay what you pay for coloring! My demeanor completely changed, I became incredibly uncomfortable being in the salon alone with her which maybe she picked up on though was aloof most of the time. I had asked earlier if she had plans that evening and she said no, just hanging out with her boyfriend so it as clear she A.) wasn't interested in developing a client relationship B.) Just did not want to be there and C.) Made the comment about 'getting close to time' as she was taking my foils off which makes me think she knew she goofed the color. I knew when I saw it in the mirror it was too dark, she's just used one shade of blonde (not two) and at the end of the appointment she told me I 'should have asked for baby lights' -- clearly having understood the color I wanted and instead made my hair a mousey brown. I went home and cried, being so close to my due date and knowing I had limited ability to correct this. I called the salon the next day and spoke to Mary Grace who was very sweet and understanding and booked me on someone else's calendar to come in the next day and try to fix it. The gal, Jessyca, was very kind and tried her best to strip toner to lighten it more but its clear Cristina used a completely wrong color and only 1 shade of blonde. They did not charge me to have it retoned which I was appreciative for but I never heard from a salon manager or anyone from the salon (beyond the to stylists who tried to fix it) about an apology, issuing a refund/credit etc. This salon is an incredibly convenient location for me to my home but based on my experience I would NOT recommend, and would seriously caution anyone thinking about booking color with Cristina to consider another stylist. I spent nearly $300 for a partial and haircut (double what I spent in the city for a decent salon) for some seriously jacked up highlights, I wouldn't even call what I received highlights, she took my blonde hair brown and based on their recourse to fix didn't feel like the management acknowledged enough of the problem to make me trust they value their salon brand. I won't be returning. Stylist also shared that in the brief time Cristina has been there I was not the only complaint they'd recently received -- for what it's worth! read more

I have been going to a large salon for the last five or six years. I always tried to get the first appt of the morning because it would get crowded and loud the later it got. I decided to make a change and made an appt with Samantha at Surge. The early appts were already taken, so I went in at 11. Not only did I get to enjoy a leisurely start to my Saturday, but it was not loud and crazy at the salon. The chairs are spaced far enough apart that you feel like you have privacy. It was actually a relaxing experience. Very calm and quiet. Samantha did an excellent job on my hair (a color, cut, style). I don't know why, but I received several compliments on my hair. It looked the same to me, but apparently not, because of the number of compliments I received. I am very happy with the service and the price. read more

Victoria is amazing. I found this salon by reading the Yelp reviews, and I'm so glad I did. I had been to five different stylists at various salons around town, but no one could blow dry my hair properly. Every person left my hair frizzy (I have thin, mixed-race hair). I would always have to go home to redo whatever the stylist had just done. Thank the Lord for flat irons. And then the last stylist trimmed my hair in such a way that it was almost a new (unwanted) style with long "fangs" at the sides of my face. The back was way too short, and the sides were way too long. But Victoria, who is so sweet and so kind, listened to me and fixed my hair. Not only did she fix the bad haircut, she is the first person I have found (#6!) who can blow dry my hair properly. She also gave me a great recommendation for a nail salon! I cannot recommend Surge Salon more highly! Helen has been my stylist for many years and I, too, have followed her to Surge and she is the absolute best there is! I would follow her anywhere. She can do anything - a true artist! Janet has colored my hair for the past few years and I wish she had been doing it for since i started coloring. She is masterful and truly gifted. My hair changed drastically after an early menopause and very unexpected and emergent surgery. It was really impacting my confidence in not feeling good about my appearance, doing my job in outside sales, and not being able to do my own hair anymore. I had a keratin treatment that will last for 3 months (fingers crossed) as opposed to the 6 week one that stopped working on my frizzed out and unbelievably curly hair anymore. I have been so impressed with their collective ability to not get frustrated with the situation and the additional attention I needed over a period of time to "figure it out." They truly listen and collaborate to the benefit of their clients. I have been to many salons over the years and this, by far, is the best of the best. Janet became my colorist after another colorist from a very well known company highlighted my hair so badly that it broke off (and lying to me about the use of bleach, which I was adamant about). Helen and Janet essentially nursed my hair back. They are an awesome team. Alex too is a wonderful addition and very creative stylist. Surge Salon really recognizes their customers - you are not just a number or a "head of hair to them." They believe in establishing a clientele. Their line of products are fabulous - but if there is a product would be beneficial to your hair (and it isn't part of the Surge line), they will recommend it without hesitation. That doesn't happen at other salons where they force their products on you!
