The last time I had a haircut, I thought, may be my instructions were not clear - because it didn't look like what I had shown them. But this time around, it's the same situation. I went to Niki Moon Salon Naperville, for balayage and showed the stylist exactly what I wanted. Before starting, I specifically asked if she could achieve that look, and she said yes. After about two hours, I could barely see any difference in my hair. The only noticeable result was that my hair felt much drier and more damaged. She then told me that because my hair was very dark, she could not make it lighter. That is unacceptable because she saw my hair before starting and still told me she could do it. Since she could see that I was unhappy, she offered me a discount to come back a second time and redo the process to get the lightness I originally wanted. I went back, spent another two to three hours there, and after all that, she put a dark color over the lightened parts and left it on for about 20 minutes. The result was still almost nothing--just dry, damaged hair with barely any visible change. Even my friend could not tell that I had done anything to my hair. I paid $500 and got basically no result. If you have dark hair, I do not recommend trusting Niki Moon Salon for balayage or highlight or ... They may say they can do it, but in my experience, they could not deliver the result they promised. The stylist later said she put dark color over the lightened areas because I told her I did not want red or yellow tones. But I have had balayage done many times before and achieved lighter results without red or yellow tones. Avoiding brassiness should not mean making the hair dark again and leaving the client with no visible result. In my opinion, if a stylist cannot achieve the requested result on dark hair, they should be honest before starting instead of wasting the client's time and money. I do not recommend Niki Moon Salon for people who are not already blonde. This photo was taken right after her second appointment. Can you see any difference? I couldn't either! I also showed the hairstylist a picture of what I wanted. $500 for... nothing! read more

Had a lovely cut and color with Adeline, and got some ashy foilyage on my black hair! I was a bit apprehensive given I didn't see many example photos on Asian clients, but Adeline was extremely sweet and open to feedback. Most recently I had my hair cut by Rose S. I chose her because I like to get an edgier wolf cut, and I saw in the picture of her on their website that she had a similar haircut to what I wanted. She was very knowledgeable about the haircut that I wanted and 100% delivered! **Review is based on consultation for hair service only** I found Niki Moon Salon and called to ask some questions about a keratin smoothing service. I was scheduled a consultation and during my consultation, I spoke with a lovely lady (Bella) who explained the process and talked with me about cost. We talked about how she would do the service, time, etc. and I left feeling comfortable and excited to schedule but wanting to check my work calendar at home first. I called a few days later to book my service and was told that Bella didn't do keratin smoothing services. Um, what? I explained that I just had a consultation with her and she had told me all about it, and her work, service, etc. The receptionist put me on hold and then came back and said that the owner said Bella doesn't do such a service. I was deeply disappointed. I was glad that I didn't actually get the service from them (not sure what it would have actually looked like), but expressed my disappointment that I had a consultation with a stylist who I am now being told doesn't do the service I want. I had seen such good reviews for this salon and was eager to have a stylist who could help, but have had to resort to other salons for my consultation and service needs. It was my first time trying this salon. I just needed a cut in between my regular stylist appointments. The reservation process was quick and easy, I was greeted promptly and my stylist was friendly. That's the good. Now the bad. The place is incredibly loud, it was hard to have a conversation or even hear your own thoughts. My hair washing process took less than one minute, that included the shampoo and the conditioner. I have never had my hair washed so fast and so careless. For a $100 haircut I expected the service to be top notch, unfortunately they didn't deliver. My haircut was not only below average but also took less than 10 minutes to complete. It felt rushed and Great Clips like. I specifically asked for clean lines but once I got home I realized that I ended up with uneven hair length. The price tag of the service did not match the quality at all. I left feeling disappointed and that I have wasted my time and money. I desperately needed a trim, called and got the first appointment available. Upon walking into the salon, WOW. So beautiful and esthetic inside. It was really clean, up to date and everyone was welcoming. Heather cut my hair, and she was sooo sweet and easy to talk to! I'm normally very shy and hate asking for what I want/things to be fixed if it's not right (pushover, I know) but she made me feel really comfortable and made sure I got the cut I wanted. I showed her a couple pictures of long curtain bangs, asked for layers to make my thin hair look more voluminous and she knew exactly what to do. I REALLY wanted to love my hair coloring, but I just don't. I don't feel like it is all that well blended in. Maritiza had asked me if I was ok with some copper tones. I said I was, but I misunderstood what she meant by "some" copper tones. I'd be totally OK with the coloring but it cost a lot. It was $150 for the balayage, $30 for olaplex treatment, $30 for shadow root treatment, plus $40 for tip - so in total $250. For that amount of money I want to LOVE it. I had an appointment with a junior stylist, and asked for a layered haircut and trim...a pretty standard request. I even brought a couple pictures to show exactly how I wanted it. I have been getting this same cut for the past 15 years, so I wasn't asking for anything that difficult. Now, the stylist was SUPER friendly, and listened carefully to what I wanted. The problem is, I ended up not getting any layers at all. I thought that maybe I just wasn't seeing the layers, so I went home and looked at it again and asked my husband. We both felt it looked like I took scissors and straight cut my hair myself! It didn't even look like I had gotten a haircut! I know the junior stylists are less experienced, and therefore cheaper, but it was still $50 and wasn't even close to what I wanted! I called the salon to see if someone more experienced could fix it. They kindly let me come back in but they had the same junior stylist try to fix it. This time I brought even more pictures to be super clear about what I wanted. She insisted that my hair would never look like the pictures unless I styled it a certain way, and that it wasn't layers I was after but a certain blowout technique. I knew this wasn't true because this is the haircut I've been getting for years! She tried to fix it up, but I still ended up with zero layers somehow! I ended up going to a different salon, and got the most beautiful layers that I wanted! I think Niki Moon Salon is probably amazing for hair color and styling, and everyone who works there is super friendly! But I don't think this is the place to go for haircuts/layering. What a wonderful and amazing place. The ambiance is so peaceful and the staff are incredible. From the moment I walked in, I felt so welcomed and taken care of. The aesthetic is bright and clean with special touches such as offerings of iced coffee while you wait. I received a hyrdofacial from Krista who was utterly amazing. This was my first facial experience but holy guacamole, I know why people get them. She was thorough in reviewing my history, provided me with education on how to continue taking care of my skin and explained each step of the facial as she worked on my face. The facial included an absolutely divine head massage, a cooling, hydrating serum, some removal of blackheads and suctioning. Also, one of the products used during the facial, Comfort Zone, smelled and felt ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY. This was by far a truly relaxing experience and because of Krista, I will be getting another facial in my lifetime. I had the immense pleasure of having Gianna doing balayage on my hair this past Monday. I can't say enough great things about this stylist. She is so very sweet and skilled at her craft. I had the living-in look done and my roots were in dire need of a touch up and she noted and rectified that prior to starting the balayage. I've seen beautiful jobs and choppy jobs over the years on people, so something I've been leery of doing but I'm so glad I took the leap of faith in trusting Gianna. She let me know exactly what she was doing and why and even suggesting touching my bangs a little that ended up being the best decision. It is spectacular and done so well that you can't see where it begins as it looks so natural and effortless. This place is a hidden gem and so beautifully set up and inviting. The other staff members I was in contact with were equally as sweet and you could feel just so at peace there. As a past costumer of a few high end spas/salons, I can gladly tell you that almost every aspect of this salon is incredible. In contrast, the other places offered high prices for low quality service. As a "salon connoisseur", something that makes a good salon great is the small details.
