I liked all the Fall decorations for sale in addition to a variety of pumpkins. I ended up buying some local SC honey since we go through a ton. The pumpkin patch is small but mighty. There are a ton of different kinds of pumpkins which is great. I also appreciated all the photos opportunities for my kid. The one negative is that pumpkins are 2-3x the cost of store pumpkins. I did purchase a pumpkin but the large ones were way more expensive than I'm willing to pay for something I can buy for 3-4x less. With that said, I like this place and I'll be back.

They also have a great selection of local items in the trailer. Wood, tree stands, tree funnel (for easy watering) for sale. Lou was so nice and helpful! All of the guys were also very helpful with figuring out how to transport the tree. They put it in the car and even offered to put it in a net or tie it to the roof of my car. Live music every Saturday and Sunday. Here in the same spot every year. Will be back next year!

I absolutely love this building! Walterboro, South Carolina is a charming town with lots of…read morebeautiful architecture... especially the Bedon-Lucas House Museum located at 205 Church Street. I remember driving past this home the for the first time and audibly gasping! My partner thought I was choking at first, I was so excited. This building has so much character and patina! The 200 year old structure was originally built as a summer home for Richard Bedon in 1820, and has had a long history of owners and misfortunes over the years. It was significantly damaged by Hurricane Gracie in 1959, and laid dormant for over 40 years until the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation obtained ownership in 1996. The building is an example of the elevated "high houses" that are built in low country along the South Carolina coast. Notice how many steps lead to the front porch. The hope is this added elevation helps prevent the homes from being flooded. Indeed, the original heart pine flooring was able to be preserved after all of these years! This home is just oozing with historic charm and I hope readers will have an opportunity to visit one day. Please add more photos to this listing if you do!

I didn't really…read moreknow what to expect with a newborn shoot but Angie was honestly the most kind hearted/gentle human. My baby did not stop crying and was extremely fussy the entire session. She was so patient and calm the many hours we were there. I didn't get to get the shots in the cute baby clothes bc we had to bundle him into a ball to keep him calm but it all came out just as beautiful. They're beautiful memories and I highly, HIGHLY recommend her. I'm very sad to know she'll be moving out of SI but know she'll be so very successful anywhere she goes. If you like small towns, parades, festivals, fair food, and people watching, the Rice Festival in…read moreWalterboro is a good one. Walterboro calls itself the "Front Porch of the Lowcountry" and has a branding campaign around that slogan. For reference, I visited in 2024 when volunteering with a political campaign. The day kicks off with a 5K for those who want to run or walk- with medals and prize money for the top finishers. For most, the big draw is the parade, which had entrants from beauty pageant contestants to folks running for office, as well as the local high school marching band. We were behind them, and they were wonderful! After the parade, everyone heads to the festival, which is downtown behind the courthouse. There's an antique car show, a stage with bands, and tons of fair foods. You'll find fried seafood, pizza, nachos, gyros, funnel cakes, snow cones, deep fried Oreos, and anything else you want. I had a cup of homemade ice cream- chocolate and vanilla, and it was delicious. Oddly enough, I never saw rice at the food vendors! The reason for four stars is that it was hard to find a place to sit or a porta john/potty. The food area had a few sets of bleachers, but that was it. There's not a whole lot of space to sit and eat, even if you have a blanket or your own chairs. For a small town, this festival brings people out from everywhere, and it is crowded. Wear good shoes and prepare to park far away, wherever you can find a spot, and do a lot of walking. But it's a neat festival and a fun small town to explore, just a quick drive from Charleston.
