If I could give Dr. Warner 100 stars, I would in a heartbeat. After having a completely terrible experience with another OB very early in my pregnancy, I went online and googled "best OB in Evanston" Dr. Warner was at the top of the list. After reading a bunch of other reviews, I switched my insurance over to her and never looked back. She is knowledgeable, patient, responsive, honest, and every other positive thing you'd look for in an OB. I was almost 3 months pregnant at our first visit and reeling from my previous terrible experience with Dr. Herriges and his practice (that's a whole other story - feel free to read that review if you want to know what not to look for in an OB). She answered all of my questions, helped my icky feelings fade away, and put my mind at ease in a matter of 15 minutes. She helped me get my very limited medical records sent over, reviewed my results from those tests and let us know that everything was going well thus far in a matter of days. Throughout my pregnancy, she never cancelled an appointment, was extremely communicative, and kept me confident that we could totally do this. Her office has a nurse available to answer questions M-F and they call you back promptly with answers to your questions, no matter how silly the questions may seem. On to my delivery, which was unplanned to a degree. Our babe was breech, and we tried spinning babies exercises, moxa, acupuncture, and nothing worked. We made the decision to try ECV, for which Dr. Warner referred us to a MFM specialist. On the day of the procedure at 37 weeks and 2 days, things did not go as planned that Dr. let us know we would delivering that day and that Dr. Warner knew and she'd be over as soon as she finished with one other patient. Holy. Crap. Well, Dr. Warner arrived, made sure we understood what was happening, walked me into the OR, soothed my frazzled psyche with some deep breaths and her ultra calm demeanor, and we were on our way. Dr. Warner truly is the best OB in Evanston, at least she is the best one for me. I absolutely adore her and her team! read more

Susan L. Warner should not be practicing medicine. For years, she misdiagnosed me and failed to detect the large fibroids that were causing severe bleeding and anemia. Despite my constant complaints, she repeatedly documented my pelvic exams as "normal." Another doctor in her office finally discovered the truth--fibroids the size of a five-month pregnancy, which were never mentioned in my records. Her negligence and dishonesty robbed me of the chance to have children. She is an incompetent liar, and I urge other women to seek care elsewhere. read more

Dr. Susan Warner is a superb OBGYN. After moving to the Northshore suburbs from California and getting pregnant a few months later, I had no clue who to go to! I was under her care for obstetrics for 9 months and all went well...I delivered a healthy baby boy. I was referred to her from an acquaintance, but little did I know she saved my life! Even more than her obstetric care, I was impressed with her care and attention to the details of my overall health. During a routine check-up, she spotted a mole on my ankle that she thought looked peculiar...while she professed she wasn't an expert, she encouraged me to get it checked out. After I delivered the baby, I went in a few months later to a dermatologist to have the mole removed and later learn it was melanoma in-situ skin cancer (stage 0). I was shocked at the diagnosis, but also relieved to have caught it at such an early stage. Even though I had been to a general practitioner for an exam earlier that year, Dr. Warner took the time to continue to remind me to get a dermatologist check up on that mole, which saved it from spreading further (per a top derm at Univ of Chicago) and saved my life. I can't thank Dr. Warner enough for being so conscietious and looking out for my whole self. I can't recommend her enough...you won't be disappointed. read more

Dr Susan L Warner is fake and dishonest. We were on a telephone appointment call and she refused to call in a prescription unless I came in. This was a prescription that I was taking for the last 4 years and I ran out. I told her I'd make an appointment but felt I should not stop abruptly on this medication and to call in just enough until I came in. She said no! That was the end of the appointment and she thought she hung up but our call never did disconnect and she was bad mouthing me to her staff not knowing I could hear and see her, rolling her eyes, saying to them "right??!! Cut me some slack" refereeing to me. She proceeded to tell them I was a manipulator patient. Seeing and hearing this was very hurtful after you put your complete trust into your doctor. She portrayed disruptive unprofessional behavior. Destroying the trust and integrity of a doctor. I reported her to the main office of Midwest Center and they were in complete shock. They gave her a call and asked her to call me to apologize and she told them No!. I've never felt so betrayed like that from any doctor. I cried and cried. She's a fake and I would never trust her ever again. I now have a wonderful new GYN. Beware of Dr Warner. read more

Strongly recommend! Dr Warner was my gynecologist before I was pregnant and I didn't have any doubts to proceed with her when I got great news even though I moved farther away. She is super nice, approachable and explains everything when I ask. This was my second baby. The first one was born abroad. When I compare this two cases I can clearly see how lucky I was to meet dr Warner. She was so sensitive and empathetic to my situation that she proposed the best solution keeping me safe and confident. She came to the delivery room even though it technically wasn't her shift. The baby was more than 10lbs but I didn't feel any pain. Now when I look 2 months back I see how blessed I was to have such a great experience! We started seeing Dr. Warner right prior to my pregnancy. From the first visit, she came across as calm, collected, and knowledgeable and helped answer all our queries while we were ttc. Her advice was invaluable to us during that period. So it comes as no surprise that we went with Dr. Warner as our OB when we found out that we were pregnant. Since my OB/Gyn was unavailable, Dr. Warner was the oncall physician when I went into labor. She was very professional and friendly and made me feel immediately comfortable. Since this was my firstborn and I already was nervous that he had flipped to breach at 35 weeks, she comforted me and throughout the whole process, talked me through it. Dr. Warner delivered our first baby last week and I could not sing more praises about her. I changed OB's halfway through my pregnancy and immediately fell in love with Dr Warner. Dr. Warner has delivered both of my babies. The first one was a vaginal birth and the second was a c section. Both were relaxed and comfortable and we all laughed and joked during both. Maybe for obstetrics Dr Warner is outstanding, I found her to be just okay. Nothing majorly wrong with her, but her office staff, bill pay system and their patient portal has been nothing but a headache over the years. After first seeing her, I set up auto pay on the fancy little "speak & spell" machines in their office. Due to a credit card breach with PayPal a few years later, my card was scrapped and I was sent a new one. So whatever payment was set up in office wasn't valid & I had not known since it's a once a year visit. I know I've since given my card info in office twice since then, because they actually required upfront payment from me the very next visit ...and again after I entered it onto the "speak & spell." Today after trying to set up an appointment for a medical concern, I was told I couldn't because I had a small balance. I offered to pay right then over the phone but was refused. Was told I needed to login to patient portal, which frankly is a pain in the ass most times I've tried to use it. I did and it didn't show a balance or account number. Oh, and card info that was on portal was old info even though I've given my new card info to office in subsequent visits. Had to call office again & get balance and account #. Office manager kept looking to put it back on me etc...sent to collections etc. When I asked why if my email was in file, they couldn't just send a notice that there was a problem in processing my payment that was overdue (especially in this day & age of people having to update cards etc due to security breach). Was told because email wasn't secure. All I was asking for was a simple notice to call or visit patient portal regarding updating payment info (Amazon does it, Netflix, etc....). So now payment over phone could be taken when 30 minutes earlier it couldn't & now apparently email was secure enough to send me a receipt for my payment but not secure enough to send me a notice for the whopping $122 I owed. Oh & it's good to know that because I was indebted that the office took me off their list to remind me that it had been 3 years since my last PAP. Good job, women treating women! I'll be taking my vagina business elsewhere. read more

I strongly recommend Dr. Warner and the Midwest Center for Women's Healthcare staff. Dr. Warner cared for me throughout my pregnancy, delivered my baby, and now sees me for my annual visits and birth control. Dr. Warner takes the time to explain things clearly, has a nice bedside manner, shows respect for patients' personal decisions regarding potentially charged decisions like whether to have an amniocentesis or do genetic testing, and is quite competent and gentle in doing medical procedures. (I just had an IUD inserted by her and it was very comfortable.) I also felt like she took the time to get to know my husband and daughter when they would come in with me for office visits. (She let my daughter hold the doppler machine when I was pregnant, which my daughter just loved.) The staff at the Evanston branch of Midwest Center for Women's Health is also fantastic. Our insurance company recently refused to cover some of the services that Dr. Warner provided, and Misty (a nurse on staff) spent a lot of time with us, helping us to understand the charges and to write a successful appeal. (We just got a letter from our insurance company informing us that they will cover the charges, which amounted to over $2,000.) Although I think all medical practitioners should be willing to spend this kind of time on patients' medical and insurance issues, I know that the reality is that most of them simply cannot (or will not). Dr. Warner and her staff will, though -- so I give them five stars. read more

I have been a long time patient of Dr Warner. She has been my provider from my early 30's to my late 40's. At every visit she not only does she address my physical health, she checks in on my social and psychosocial health as well and I appreciate this. Scheduling a visit has never been a challenge and her nurses are informative and attentive to my needs. To be fair I'd like to say that Dr. Warner is an upstanding, professional, and respectable example of a doctor. I have always had outstanding experiences with her. I meant to write her a rave review after my last checkup. However, i have a completely different opinion of her nursing staff. I recently had an unfortunate circumstance with which i needed advice and guidance. I called and left a message for the nurse on duty. My call was returned, and I spoke with Nurse Ellie. From the beginning she was very cold, defensive, and quite critical of my situation. Understanding that my inexperience with medical practice and proceedure as well as my physical discomfort may have swayed my opinion, I still felt i was treated very inappropriately. While she did offer answers to my questions, her compassion for the situation was non exsistant. Sadly I will not be returning as a result. What was more upsetting was that when i voiced my frustration to the person whom referred me to Dr. Warner in the first place, she mentioned having had the same experience with the nursing staff herself, as well as others she knew. Hopefully this will be a reminder that a little patience, and understanding for those of us who are less knowledgable would go a long way. Sorry Dr. Warner..you will be missed. read more

I had a gynecologist I really like and trust, but my work schedule changed drastically and it wasn't reasonable for me to get to his office for appointments any longer. Dr. Warner was much closer and had more availability in her schedule that worked for me. I had two appointments with her because I was due for my annual and also needed my IUD replaced. I think it is aways nerve-wracking to meet a new Dr., but Dr. Warner was easy to talk to and I appreciated her kind, calm, intelligent, approach to my care. When I had my IUD placed last week, I was having really intense cramps because I have endometriosis (=cramps on steroids). I wasn't expecting them to improve with the IUD (sometimes it takes a few months for a person's body to sort things out with a new IUD) but they did! Also, I was terrified to get it placed (seriously: nightmares the week before because the first insertion was so painful) but the medicine that she had me take ahead of time plus the fact that she is so highly skilled and gentle to-boot actually made it tolerable. My wife and I are transplants in town for school, so we didn't really know anyone to provide recommendations for an OB - so we did the responsible thing and turned to Yelp. Fortunately all of her raving reviews are spot on accurate. We had some minor issues at the beginning of the pregnancy that she expertly handled to ensure there wouldn't be any complications. She was constantly receptive to our concerns and wishes regarding the pregnancy and delivery, which we particularly appreciated at the tail end of things when my wife went two weeks past due. When we eventually decided to induce, she was incredibly supportive and I think we managed to catch her on her only day off - which did not stop her from coming in to delivery the baby herself. Her calm, yet straight shooting and respectful demeanor made it incredibly easy to work with her. My only regrets are that I can't give her 6 stars and that we won't be in town for her to delivery our future children. I have been enjoying the services of Dr. Susan Warner and her staff for about fifteen years, and recently found out how they perform when you have a problem. My routine exams were all prompt and thorough, but when I started bleeding after menopause, it was cause for alarm. I called and was scheduled within a few days, asking for the first available time. The service and professionalism were truly outstanding. I had a brief exam in the office followed by an immediately available ultrasound and then a further exam of the uterus. This saved me from having to schedule a subsequent appointment. During these procedures the technician and the doctor explained what they were seeing, instead of treating me like a child. Then I was scheduled for a surgical procedure at the hospital. I felt stress leave my body as I realized what good hands I was in. At the procedure, everyone was professional and exuded medical expertise. All went well, and with an absolute minimum of worry and anxiety. I would fly back to Chicago , to see Dr. Warner, from quite a distance, if I needed further gynecological services. Once you get to the top, don't keep shopping. read more

A friend of mine recommended Dr Warner to me when I discovered I was pregnant last summer. I am over 35, and they gave me all the extra attention that was needed. From the first moment I set foot in the Evanston practice I knew this was the right place for me. I was always greeted with a smile, all my questions were answered by the staff, Dr Warner and her nurse went above and beyond when it came to taking care of my maternity leave paperwork, even got on a call with me and my H/R department. Dr Warner was never too busy to answer questions for me, I had many, since this is our first baby, she was always as nice and comforting as can be. The doctors communicate well between each other as well, I have met with all of them. This was especially a great idea of hers, since you don't know who you will end up with in the delivery room. I never felt pressured into anything, rather I was always given the options when it came to vaccines and treatments. Never had to wait longer than 10-15 minutes, which is a miracle in most cases, I really wish all doctors would run their practice this way. I would/ and have been recommending Dr Warner to anyone.
