I feel like the employees aren't very invested in helping you and if you ask a a question it feels like a burden on them. I had called to inquire about store hours and let them know that I had come by during their listed hours but the closed sign was up and they told me there's no way that had happened. Additionally, I purchase some interchangeable needles and the price that rung up was higher than the sticker price. I hadn't noticed until I got home, so then I went back to the store a couple days later with the stickers still on there. They told me it was because of the tariffs, which I completely understand, but better customer service would honor the price that was listed on the item. They also made it feel as though it was my fault for not knowing the prices had increased (I don't live in Cleveland, so I only come to shop when I'm in town to see family). Overall, I've had multiple recent experiences with the shop that were unpleasant. I'm disappointed since the selection is nice, but given the service I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

She and her employees are knowledgeable and helpful, and I have never felt pressured to purchase anything. I visited this past week with a mission to find yarn to go with a dress I had purchased; love the dress, but it is sleeveless, and I need something to slip on for cooler temps. Not finding anything online or in stores, I decided to knit a shrug. Cathy helped me choose not only yarn that went with the colors in the dress, she unwound skeins in order to choose the two skeins that best matched each other. She also looked at my pattern and confirmed how much yarn I needed and what weight (we changed it from a DK to a worsted weight). I know that if I run into any challenges while making my piece, I can go into the shop and receive knitting advice. Skeins of yarn are wound at no cost, classes are offered for knitters and crocheters of all levels, and this shop participates each year in the annual Yarn Discovery Tour. Purchases are recorded on your Yarn Card - I completed mine with this visit and received a $$ reward that was applied to my purchase.

So I went on living social and found a deal that The Artful Yarn was having. Knitting lessons for 2- for 2 days!!! I couldn't beat the deal! So after a lot of back and forth with the Owner, Cathy, my friend and I finally found some dates that work for us! When we arrived to the store, we both were in amazement! They have everything you can think of! And Cathy!!!! I just heart her! When she discovered who I was, ran up and gave me one of the best hugs ever! She totally won me over that day! The knitting class that we took was very worthwhile. Not only did we learn how to do 3 stitches, they also gave as some history about knitting and some vocabulary. After the second class, my friend and I feel as though we are pros! LOL! Not really, but we are more confidenet know to bust out our needles. With the class we receive knitting needles, a book, a bag, and some NICE thread. They offer a lot more classes, even have like a "help-line", and a knitting corner- where you can bring in your latest project and just knit and chat with the ladies. I for sure will be back!

My family and I happened upon this shop on a previous trip and, peeking through the windows adoringly at all the lovely fabrics and baubles, made a note to return. We finally got our chance to visit a couple weeks ago and were absolutely delighted by the selection of fabrics and notions. They have many contemporary fine fabric designers and styles from which to choose in addition to high quality threads and various notions you may need for different projects from garment construction to quilting to other household crafts. They stock quite a bit of Liberty of London fabrics, high-end cottons that feel like buttery silk, which would make for some dreamy apparel, as well as many contemporary and fun designs in all sorts of bolts and rolls. Their independent patterns selection was also awesome with an entire wall for garment-project inspiration from Deer & Doe, Colette, Cashmerette, Closet Case, Grainline Studio, Liesl + Co, Megan Nielsen, Merchant & Mills, and others. I was instantly inspired to get my sewing machine running again in hopes of finishing some projects I'd already planned along with new ones catalyzed by this shopping trip. They also feature some sewing craft kits; embroidery and stitch art kits, supplies and hoops; and a selection of yarns and such for the crochet and yarn enthusiasts. I only wish I were closer to the store (or that it was closer to me) so that I could visit more frequently and perhaps also attend some classes. As it was, I left with some beautiful fabric including a discounted remnant of the lovely Liberty cotton and a new t-shirt pattern I'm looking forward to trying my hand at. I hope to return for more patterns, fabrics, and perhaps find a project in which to incorporate some of that lovely ribbon by which I was absolutely mesmerized. Just when you think it can't get any better than having some new raw materials and a dream of a garment to take form, they wrap up your purchase in paper and tie it with string!

You know how you suddenly think of a new crafting hobby then maybe or maybe not do it after getting all the supplies. Today I was in the mood for cross stitching, something I was really good at in childhood and never attempted recently. It seems like fun fall pastime. And so, I found myself at a local Michael's in Beachwood. STORE: The store is very clean and well stocked. Everything is meticulously organized. It's really impressive. I also found it to be very well lit so you can inspect all your craft finds. I was looking for a cross stitch kit but also found a lot of embroidery kits. No designs really worked for what I wanted - something nature-y. But there were some fun ones - cafes, pasta, and more. Cross stitch kits seem to be phasing out, but here they are between $11-20, not a bad value. The store is full of seasonal stuff - Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. You can get everything from seasonal plates to nut crackers. I was most into Christmas merry go round. SERVICE: The service is very friendly. I was able to ask an associate on her way to clock in some questions about what I was looking for. She suggested where to find my products, and some alternative finds. So, really really good service. I would come to this store again for my obscure hobbies. Next time I'm planning for more time to look for cross stitch kits and other hobbies I've abandoned years ago.
