We were denied entrance and treated rudely, stating that because 1 person in our party did not have an I.D. we could not enter the club I showed a picture of my U.S. Drivers license. My son showed his drivers license. I also produced a copy of the confirmation email for the reservation, as well as my 2023 membership card from our Yacht Club back home, and we were still denied entrance by a Security person at the Front Desk. I checked the CYCA website before hand to make sure we understood the club rules for guests as well as any dress code. Below is the link to the CYCA website, and it clearly does not state anything about all parties needing to have identification. https://cyca.com.au/about-the-club/visit-the-club/ Lastly, I called to confirm the reservation at 430 and spoke to the Bar Manager, who indeed, confirmed the reservation. The owner/chef knows me and my mates and I think he makes it super spicy just to see us sweat! But I love it still! Every time! Hmmm... isn't that kind of the business and expectation that the sushi chef would be busy making/preparing sushi/sashimi? Anyway, we ordered our Bento boxes and they were nicely presented. But I think for $40 a bento box and the name Azuma, I was kind of expecting more in terms of quality and quantity. The tempura was not fantastic. It wasn't that light crispy tempura I was expecting. I can definitely get much better tempura at less fancy Japanese restaurants. There was no white radish with the tempura sauce which was disappointing and not not very traditional. The wagyu beef was quite tough and chewy. Didn't seem very wagyu to me. On the positive, the sashimi served were good in terms of freshness. Also, looking at the sushi bar, they didn't seem to have 'Uni' (sea urchins) at all. Overall, I had a higher expectation from Azuma given the price and what Azuma claims itself to be. According to the 'About Azuma' page, it says Kimitaka Azuma's "passion is to deliver new and dynamic Japanese cuisine that is both traditional and innovative drives him to expand his business, in the hope that all Sydneysiders will be able to enjoy the experience of 'real' Japan." Unfortunately, it was far from that experience and I definitely did not feel the 'real' Japan. Hands down best meal to eat is the Teriyaki Chicken Don. If you order this as a main meal you also get a miso soup for entree. A close second is the Katsu Don, which is essentially a pork fried schnitzel, tossed with a fried egg on top of rice. If you like your eggplant, you must order the eggplant entree!! They are sliced thinly and covered with a delicious sweet sauce. I usually save this to pour over the remaining rice in my Katsu Don, so that I don't waste any of it. Better yet, if you come in on your birthday, for three people dining, you get an entree free. For four or more you get a main meal free.

Some of my favourite dishes include the age moshi, chicken takoyaki and incredible gyoza. The sashimi is also also delicious, fresh and generously cut- no anorexic slivers to be seen. The only disappointing dish was the teriyaki beef, which was a little tough, but not bad enough that I didn't finish it. The chefs do a good job of entertaining the crowd and are always super-friendly, flamboyant and roll a mean California roll. Located on bustling King Georges Rd, your biggest issue will be finding a car park. Try securing a spot in one of the back streets (behind Beverly Hills Hotel are a few side streets that usually have a couple of empty spaces).

Seating is nice and cosy despite the small shopfront (hate the ones where you're elbow touching with the person next to you. ...) STRONGLY recommend the Salmon Lover (18 variations of salmon) and their Nanban Chicken.
