#67 for 2021
We've been coming here to the Westpoint Shopping Center several days now and seen pedestrians enjoying the food of Sushi Maru. After a little shopping, we planned to have lunch here before watching a movie which happened to be next door.
First up we ordered the Nigiri Deluxe platter. Every thing was fantastic. Fresh. Nothing smelly or slimy. Clean taste with the wasabi and lightly dipped soy sauce made a wonderful start for the rest yet to come. There are larger platters you can order for take out. The prices varied depending on quality, quantity and add on. Very reasonable for Americans with the dollar stronger. It's nice to watch the sushi pass by on the conveyor belt. The dishes were covered with plexiglass. That made me feel comfortable pulling the dishes off the conveyor belt.
I love soft shell crab but the hand roll did not appeal to me. I guess I'm just use to having the whole crab. I could barely taste it. If it wasn't for the crunch I wouldn't have known it was there. Ok maybe I'm exaggerating a little. The rest of the ingredients were fresh and nice.
Most of what we ordered were salmon because that's what my wife likes. I went along enjoying what was coming out. Most of it anyway. The chicken katsu roll was nice but I could do without the mayo. Salmon avocado was good too after I scraped the mayo off. Don't get me wrong. I like mayo just not a big gob on my sushi. There are times where I won't scrap it off. Just my preference.
There were some nice desserts but I needed to cut down on my sweet intake. It was very tempting though. Anyway I was hanging on to my Resees's Peanut Butter mega deluxe cup.
Like other sushi restaurants, the color plates represent a specific price. Like most customers I like to pile my plates according to color to make it easy for the service staff to count. Even after I get my bill it's a good idea to make sure you are not over billed. Understand that? The counts may be wrong but just make sure you're not over billed. lol
Service was excellent here. It might have been robotic but at least they were attentive. It's a nice to visit for a quick grab n go between train rides or on a movie day. I would definite come back here. Great place to bring a small group to enjoy the scenery and a little shopping. read more
