The food is great, quality and value is excellent but they give 10% discount for cash. In a time when most places discourage cash for health and safety, this place pays you NOT to use touchless transactions then they hand you change that has been handled by countless people. Also the people who touch that dirty money also touch my food. The food is great so if you don't mind paying 11.1% more for touchless payment, go for it. I would have given 5 stars if they didn't encourage unsafe behaviour. read more

today I decided to order food for the family, and I walked into this restaurant and started to order an $80 party pack. I was surprised when the full price was rung up on the till since their menu clearly states 10% off for any takeout order. They told me they already gave such a good price that they won't offer 10%. I explain to them that they advertised this special and therefore they should honor it. They absolutely would not so they were told that I have been here many times and will not come anymore and cancel the order. Definitely lacks credibility in my view. read more

I see some of the reviews of this place are over a year old so I wanted to update a more recent review. We went In and ordered take out and only waited about 15 minutes at the restaurant. When we got home we found the sushi nice and fresh, and my yam roll was still hot. They provided lots of sauce on top of the spicy rolls we ordered and everything tasted great! We will come back and order again soon! read more

Wanted to get some lunch here and dine in but when I walked in they said that they were on lunch and wouldn't be ready for about 45 minutes, that's not how you run a restaurant, you don't close so you can take a break, take your breaks all at different times so people can still come in and eat. I am down grading Sama 1 star as I have found in the last four months they have been inconsistent. They are still in my top five but I wouldn't consider them in my top three at this point. Old review: Best sushi in Maple Ridge and I eat ALOT of sushi. This place is always consistent with the quality of their food. The sashimi is always fresh and the salmon here is the best I have had hands down. They recently added a few new rolls to the menu and my new favorite has become the snow white roll and the Golden bridge roll. Highly recommended. This place was my go to sushi restaurant in Maple Ridge for years. Over the years the food has gotten inadequate. I've had my order messed up many times, including today where I ordered a vegetable gyoza and received a pork gyoza. I did not know about the mistake until it was too late and ingested it. As someone who doesn't eat meat for personal reasons and have for half my life it was very upsetting. Will no longer be a returning customer to this restaurant. read more

This spot is so disappointing. We came to eat here dinner yesterday and the front desk girl is rude, the food took over an hour to arrive and when I went to the bathroom I saw a mouse!!! Disgusting and unhygienic - we couldn't even eat the food after knowing that it's mice and rat-infested! There are other delicious sushi places in maple ridge and this is definitely not one of them!! Worst place ever. 6 chefs sitting outside drinking drinking tea and laughing. 10 min into opening time they say they have no server to take orders or money. My husband and I waited 25 minutes... right in front of them. They could have said something to us. Instead we staid patient. 4 other groups of people got fed up and left. No service for anyone... and they just laughed . I am thinking this is a front. Money laundering or drugs. Been ordering here for years and just so happen to order on a "busy night" come to pick up my order that should have been made and ready to go at 7:35 and here I am 8:09 still waiting. Watching each item come up one by one... nothing fucking made. When my mom came in they didn't even know what she was talking about the male teen that works here "closest to management" did absolutely nothing for me. The food is ok, but the customer service is the worst I have experience in my entire life!!!! 1. a party of 5 walks in... no hello or acknowledgement that we were there.. a few min pass we are greet by "you are eating in?" 2. no water plate or utensil was given. only a menu. was left by ourselves for 20 to 30 mins. 3. no services. we had to go fetch the waiter to get our order. and later go to front desk and get an extra forks ourselves. 4. when the food finally came... we had to ask for plates a couple of times and my husband had to go to front desk and ask. Apparently they ran out of plates and had to wash more ... ??? WE HAD NO PLATES TO EAT OUR FOOD IN!!! 5. a table of two was serve before us who came and ordered after us. 4. no. how was ur meal? or any greeting at all. 5. no water refill ever!! we were there to close to 2 hrs. 6. when my husband confront him.. the waiter said because there's a big party and it's hard to keep up and excuses after excuses instead of I am sorry.. the restuarant is small.. only 1 big party of 12?? an another table of 2 and us. There were two server. EVEN IF THEY ARE BUSY.. IT IS only COURTESY TO ASK HOW THE FOOD IS OR AT LEAST COME TO THE TABLE AND SEE IF WE NEED ANYTHING! the only positive thing was... the food isn't too bad. This place is going down hill.... It saids free delivery over 40 dollars but they charged us 5 dollars for the delivery fee... Also when we opened the food... It was totally different ingredients than when we had it in a restraunt. They put less sashimi. Definitely overpriced. read more

I called back again 10 minutes later and told them to forget it and they said yeah okay thanks bye and hung up on me! I have been a repeat customer a long time! Never been treated this way! I've been coming here for about 5 years with my mom and my girlfriend about 2-3 times a week. Just let me start off with how friendly the service is. They always greet me with a smile. The best Sushi in town. As an Asian inheritance, I would say this is the most authentic and the best taste Sushi place in town. Not to mention their Don Katsu and other side such as rolls. I will definitely spare my time to visit there again whenever I trip to Vancouver area. read more

My wife and I have been to this recently opened sushi restaurant about 10 times and have never been disappointed. One of the meals we tried was the Veggie Box; an assortment of tasty, filling food that leaves you stuffed all for $8.95! I eat sushi very often and Sushi Sama is the best I have found. The food is delicious, fresh and plated wonderfully. Their customer service is friendly and fast, and the price makes it a terrific value. They have a lot of options on their menu to choose from, with some of my favourites being the Red Dragon roll and Kamikaze roll. This will continue to be my go-to sushi. I've been to all sushi restaurant in Maple Ridge. This probably the best one so far. The quality is average, and i have not yet have any complaints on their food. They give you a lot of quantities for the price you pay and sometimes add in extra pieces of sashimi. I phoned here earlier and placed an order for delivery, it was ovbs a delivery when they go over your address on the phone. They said 25 minutes, I waited about an hour before phoning to see where they were. I was then rudely spoken to on the phone were they claimed it was pick up, and ready 40 minutes ago... I said politely back that I clearly specified delivery, that's why I gave my address, and was then told "I wasn't specific enough". Then told it would take another 20 minutes to get our food to us, I was taken back from the rude snappy tone so I just agreed. After hanging up the phone and speaking to my husband I decided we no longer wanted to go through then for our order, the food would be cold and possibly unsafe being left out that long, and receiving no apology for there error and treated with disrespect like that wasn't okay... so I phoned and cancelled our order with the reasons I said above. I was hung up on. I wouldn't recommend anybody going here and especially not ordering for delivery through them... they clearly lack respect for there customers. After hanging up, we found a sushi place close by Maple Sushi... who were incredibly polite and the food was great! read more

Went to dine in the other day and they were not busy inside. It took 20 mins of attempting to make eye contact with staff to take our order at which time we also requested beverages. 20 mins to ask for water! We placed our order and waited. During that time the young man bussing tables asked another couple how their meal was. "Actually , not very good" the customer replied. The employee turned away and went back to clearing the other table. A full 40 mins later, 1/2 my friends meal came and I had to remind the waitress about my water and she apologized and went back and got me a glass of water. My friend finished the first half of her food and mine still hadn't come. One hour 20 mins after entering, and one hour since ordering, we asked for the remainder of her order that never came and my entire order that never arrived, to be boxed to go. At the register I voiced my concerns to the same young man who ignored the earlier complaint. He advised me that they were extremely busy with take out orders and fell behind. The sushi chefs were also apologetic. However in my eyes, you should be serving the pants off the dine in customers first, your walk in take away orders 2nd, and letting your telephone orders know there's a wait and their order may be a 45 min- hour wait time before bothering to pick it up. I was further disappointed at having to pay the full $42 bill. I did not tip. I will order take out or delivery if they offer it as I quite enjoyed the food and found it to be one of the better sushi restaurants in Maple Ridge, but I will never set foot inside as a dine-in patron.
