We came here for a quick lunch and it was well worth it. The bento boxes are the way to go, a little bit of everything to satisfy all your Japanese cravings. The tempura were super fresh and crispy, you can tell they were straight from the fryer. The sashimi was super fresh and just melted on your tongue. The stewed chicken and veggies were tasty as well. Everything was only around $15 and if you dined in you also got miso soup. You get a lot of value especially with the 8 pieces sashimi. One of the better sushi places in Tucson. Been to several sushi places in Tucson, but very few have been impressive. We went here on a weekday. The service was prompt and our food was prepared in a timely fashion. The restaurant is clean with ample amount of room. The place has a relatively chill atmosphere. For appetizer we ordered the fried jalapeño without cream cheese and have to say it was very spicy, but still enjoyed it. Also tried the La playa roll, it was delicious. Usually I have noticed the rice content to fish content is always unequal, but the roll we tried had just enough rice, not too empowering. We also tried the sashimi salad, only thing we were not too pleased with. I felt the ginger dressing was too sparse and the greens did not seem that fresh. The sashimi quality is quite fresh. We are sushi lovers and sashimi is a must try thing for both my husband and I. We tried the sashimi boat ($35) and we were impressed by the quality of fish along with the portion. There were about 3 pieces of each type of fish, and if I am not mistaken, it was combination of 8-9 different types. My favorites were salmon and yellowtail. Fatty tuna was also pretty good. I was not a fan of the Octopus. It was too chewy for me. Will definitely be back when we are in the neighborhood to try some more rolls. read more

**3.5 Stars** I came to this small (seems like a family owned) Japanese restaurant with my family one night. Not that I don't expect all restaurants to be clean, but the tables, dishes, and floors were impressively clean. The staff and servers were extremely kind and helpful. However not the most attentive - it took me several minutes of awkwardly waving my hand in the air at my server with barely any other customers around to get her attention. We ordered fried tofu for an appetizer. I loved it. Flakey, not too much batter, and just enough taste in the sauce to not over power the tofu. For my main course, I ordered the small sashimi which came with 14 slices, a bowl of rice, small salad, and miso soup. Honestly not a bad deal for $16. Out of the 5 types of fish only 1 was NOT fresh. I'm not sure if this was an off day for that selected type but I could definitely taste and smell how unfresh their albacore was. I had a sample of their chicken teriyaki and I was not impressed. Seem almost like steamed plain chicken breast with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce on top. Healthy? Probably. Tasty? Not my cup of tea. Overall, everything was pretty good. They have some steep prices but at least they don't skimp out on their fish and roll sizes. If you are v looking for fried rolls, stuffed with cream cheese or overflowing with sauces, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for tasty, healthy meals, it is. Tucked away near in a strip mall this place is really good. I arrived early on a Saturday with a large party. We were seated promptly and the service was good. This restaurant is clean and we'll decorated for a strip mall Japanese eatery. I ordered more food than I knew I would be able to eat, but I did it to try more of their food. I ordered a bento box and ramen. The bento box was good and the ramen was great. The ramen had an excellent pork broth with a lot of depth in flavor. The pork in the ramen was great. The whole was far greater sum of it's parts. Since I planned to have leftovers the waiter was kind enough to offer to pack my leftover ramen. He was an expert for sure. He put the noodles and other items in a box and the broth in a liquid to go container. This was smart as some noodles dissolve or expand in broth making the dish much different than intended. The ramen heated up well and was really good a couple of days later. If you're in the area, check this place out good Japanese place. read more

Waiter got the order wrong and didn't even bother to fix his mistake, it was unbelievable. Yet, he had time to go talk about his plans to teach English in Japan or some such nonsense. Decided to try a new sushi spot, but was disappointed in this place. Got the salmon roll and, for the price, was extremely underwhelmed. The portion sizes were so small, and the roll consisted of just salmon. Other places I've been to have salmon rolls that contain salmon, cucumber, and avocado for the same price or even cheaper. The Rainbow rolls were a little disappointing - usually our goto sushi. One rather odd and annoying thing was the fact that we ordered $130 worth of rolls al a carte and asked about miso. The policy is one 4oz bowl of miso per order regardless of the number of rolls ordered. I asked if they would give more bowls and they said no. It's located in a strip mall that is fairly nondescript, but in a busy location with a Whole Foods not far away. Anyway, this is another fine dining spot in Tucson. Stepping inside takes you on a journey far from Arizona. The vibe of the place is very relaxing, jazz music is playing in the background, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. For my meal, I had a spicy crab roll, and an "Are you killing me" (or something similar) roll. The latter roll was the total bomb - a fabulously spicy roll with a spicy sauce on the side. The heat from this roll lingers in the back of the mouth and it's great for people who love spicy food (like me). Also, their wasabi is quite strong, which is something else that I truly appreciate. My friend and I had two kinds of nigiri sushi (Japanese scallop and smoked salmon), plus three appetizers: gyoza, tempura appetizer and agedashi tofu. The Japanese scallop nigiri was creamy and delicious; the tofu dish was very good; the tempura, gyoza and smoked salmon nigiri were the same as what you get at other Japanese restaurants. Their sashimi is fresh and served with traditional Japanses sushi rice. We ordered chirashi and Japanese beef curry. Good service, nice and calm indoor seating. Tonkotsu Ramen- Overall pretty good! The broth was great, I think the tare could have been a tad saltier to round out the flavors of the dashii. Noodles were okay, they were already a little soggy when it came to me but not too bad. The toppings is where good ramen can turn disappointing... The chashu was decent but the way it was cut provided some awkward bites and chew (not rolled and cut evenly) The narutomaki was the worst part, one giant thick piece rather than 2 or 3 smaller thin slices. This interrupts the flow of eating and provided uneven chunky chewy bites. The egg didn't even seem like agitama, more like a hard boiled egg with a very chalky inside Menma was good but there were super tiny pieces and big chunks which meant they weren't evenly soaked in the broth Scallions and other aromatics were great! Overall I would come here again because the base of the ramen was great, but the execution in the final product leaves some to be desired! read more

Don't waste your time. Seriously. We had a reservation on a Thursday, showed up a few minutes early. Was told to take a seat in our reserved spot. We sat and waited. Waiters ignored us for twenty minutes while they sat a two walk-ins (no reservations) and got them menus, silverware, and took their drink orders. We got nothing. Not a drink. Not a napkin. Not a menu. Not an apology. Nothing. And it's not like they were understaffed. The sushi chef even looked at us numerous time and didn't seem to care. The best sushi I've had on Tucson this far. While they don't offer a happy hour or any discount prices the prices themselves are on par with most; rolls being between $8-$10. The service was hospitable and knowledgeable and they catered to my gluten allergy. Their sushi rice contains a small amount of soy sauce so they recommended regular rice. They brought me gluten free soy sauce and their wasabi is really good and hot. Clears your sinuses right up from all these AZ allergies.
