My wife and I had dinner at SV at 5pm on August 26th. We have been patronizing SV since 2015 and it is our only "go to" restaurant in either Tucson or Oro Valley. Last night, we had cucumber salad to begin; followed by miso soup; and then a shrimp tempura roll; a handmade tempura roll; and a salmon roe nigiri. For dessert, we had the mango mochi. The difference between SV and other sushi restaurants is the "freshness and quality" of everything they use--especially their Scottish Salmon, which all but melts in your mouth. Way out in North Oro Valley. On our return from the Biosphere 2 we desired an Asian meal. Sushi Valley popped up on Yelp. We opted for a couple noodle and vegetable dishes. They were delivered promptly, sizzling hot, and both were delicious. The Sushi looked good but we opted for cooked food. No bar but they beer and wine. Family run it seems. The decor is Japanese. The food, while good, is not exactly Japanese. For example, the gyoza (pot stickers) are deep fried instead of the usual pan method that gave them their name, and there are 6 in the servicing vs the traditional 5. Sushi servings are generous, so points for generosity if not authenticity. TIP: the cash discount, once 10% but now 7%, is worth asking for. Far better than any credit card rebate. read more

This place is so cute! A small place with lots of surprises! It is family-owned and operated. I love watching the family help run this business. I love their decor. The place is neat and very relaxing inside. And the food is great, as well--from the soup to the entrée and the rolls. It's a little pricey, but I think it's well worth it. Haven't updated my review in 8 years, it's about time! This has become our go-to sushi spot - it's so convenient and their fish is so good. Do not be put off with the price of the nigiri - they are easily twice the size of other sushi restaurants. My favorite is the eel (see photo). Their rolls are wonderful, but I would avoid some of the expensive specialty rolls - they get too carried away with all the sauces, etc. and the fish can get lost. This is such a quiet little restaurant - we love coming here as we can always get a table and the service is great. read more

I found the ambiance to be right on, especially because it's in a strip. After you order, miso soup arrives (if it is part of your meal). I like miso soup, but this one had some crab meat, which I could taste, so I demurred. The spouse had it and liked it. We both went with the chef specials or whatever is listed on the menu, on the right and low. She angled for Teriyaki chicken, which was a large amount along with fresh veggies. It brcame clear immediately that one dish will easily cover two people. She enjoyed the meal, nothing though to rave though, just solid. I went Shrimp Tempura with vegetables. My God was the dish massive. The shrimp tempura was light and fantastic. I ate them all. The veggies were eggplant, carrot, broccoli and zucchini which I gave to the spouse. There is so much on the plate, I had to ask for a to go bag. The dish included rice which wasn't a need. My dogs though loves it. Overall wonderful place. read more

Overall this restaurant has a nice appeal to it. Personally I am a huge fan of sushi and I enjoy these smaller places which dedicate their entire menu to sushi. When that is the case you know it's going to be delicious. Unfortunately, the prices of the sushi rolls and the service were both enough of an issue to reconsider my wanting to dine here again. The service was very slow, our main dishes were brought out separately which caused a delay in our dining. The prices are outrageous, especially for the non-sushi dishes. A plate of chicken fried rice costs $20. Really?! For rice? That seems a bit extreme. I can understand the prices for sushi but rice and some of the other traditional dishes seemed way over priced. Overall they had a decent sushi selection but I think it may be a while before we come back. read more

(The menu prices in the picture are false advertising) The Nigiri was chewy, the rice was mushy, the rolls all covered in mystery sauces. Wish I could give negative stars. Let's start with the positives. The place was clean and the fish seemed to be fresh. No off smell. So, that's good!! I'm honestly a little disappointed in the rolls. At over $20 each, I was expecting much more. The spicy salmon in the Ultimate salmon roll was not spicy at all. The entire roll fell apart when I tried to pick up each piece. I have been frequenting Sushi Valley for 7 years now and I must say I am still impressed. Their roll quality is excellent and the freshness of the fish is commendable. I primarily pick up sushi to go or order for delivery. They are now on Door Dash to make it even easier for their patrons to order. They stand out in the areas of sashimi and signature rolls. My personal favorite is the Pink Lady Roll which is a simple roll which is very heavy on the fish and wrapped in a cute pink soy paper (hence the name). If you like a spicy tuna but want something a bit more fun, try the Monkey Brain roll! It is a very different take on a roll with the rice on the bottom and stacked on top is avocado and a spicy tuna filling drizzled with eel sauce. It looks just awesome and tastes even better. read more

Service was fine and the decor is cute and cozy. One of my pet peeves is the overuse of cucumber in sushi rolls- the flavor overpowers the fish. Salmon roll had more cucumber than salmon. At $14.95 for a regular size roll, it was a huge disappointment. Very expensive. read more

Just completed a meal at Sushi Valley . 4 rolls and 2 lemon adds - $84.00 - the rolls were full of fillers vegetables and cream cheese - I have had sushi where their was more fish in one roll then all 4 of sushi valley. Who ever said that was the best sushi they ever had eaten must not have eaten much sushi. I would compare their Japanese sushi to Korean sushi where it is all vegetables - no fish. Their sushi had no flavor. Yes, should have left was seeing $20 rolls on the menu. The soup was good. I did a $5 tip normally I leave 20%. I figured tops they spent 4 to 6 dollars to make their $20.00 roll.Maybe they could use some of their profit to hire a dishwasher. It is a family business, so be patient on busy weekends. It will be worth the time. My only note is the rolls are barely closed on the bottom rather than fully wrapped, but the flavor isn't impacted. Nice family restaurant run by non-Japanese owner. Ordered the tempera dinner and soft shell crab roll. Tempera was heavy and not light and airy as I normally get at a traditional Japanese restaurants. The batter may has been over beaten.. The soft shell crab roll had too much sauce, which overwhelmed the subtle flavors of the soft shell carp and the other ingredients in the roll. Being from California we were a bit hesitant to try sushi this far away from the ocean. I'm glad we did though. Our dinner started out with Miso soup, normally I'm not a big fan of miso but figured I'd try it. It was probably one of the best miso soups I've had. Went on to the spicy tuna roll, nice flavor in the tuna with a hint of spice. I would prefer to have a bit more tuna in it but it was still good. Ordered 2 pieces of tuna sushi and 3 salmon. All 5 were great with no fish smell at all and good portion of fish to rice. The rice had a good flavor without a strong vinegar taste. We ordered the Nogales roll also. Good flavor but I wasn't as big a fan as Bobbie of the cream cheese on it. To me the cheese over powered the rest of the roll. Over all a good meal and we will be back in the future. read more

I rarely leave not-so-great reviews, but I feel like transparency is important. I stopped by for a quick dinner with my kids. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the owners are very kind. They had their 3-year-old daughter playing in the restaurant and she was immediately drawn to my baby and older daughter. Honestly, sometimes I love a family feel so this wasn't a problem. She played with them the entire time and it was adorable! Where the disappointment came in was with the pricing and quality of food. I am a ramen FIEND, so of course I ordered the spicy shrimp ramen (for around $14 I figured it had to be GOOD stuff). The ramen was literally just doctored-up packaged ramen that you buy in the store. They did add fresh vegetables and shrimp, but for $14 that is NOT okay. I also ordered a California roll and spicy salmon roll (which came out to around $17 on their own, which is pretty steep for basic rolls). With that being said, the owners were very sweet and the server was nice. I would just enjoy getting better quality for the price. read more

This a good version of "quick sushi" if you have the urge. I can only give it 4 stars, because it's not prime grade sushi. My experience with the rice is that it's too hard and sticky. The sushi itself is farm raised fish, which in fairness is what most Sushi locations use, but still I'd give the actual quality of fish a 3 out of 5 and the quality of the rice is a 3 out of 5. The rolls on the other hand Ill give a 4.5 out of 5. They very good. Service and delivery is 4.5 out of 5 as well. Overall I'd give this a 3.8/5 but rounded to 4 stars read more
