The issue is not Dr. Bodor, it is the staff and the office's new business model. I have been a patient of Dr. Bodor's since shortly after the pandemic. I appreciated everything about my interactions with her. Back then, she actually responded to most of the messages I sent through the MyChart portal. I could also, typically, get a live person on the phone. Or if I left a message, I could get a relatively prompt reply. I re-initiated care after a year or two and things have changed drastically. Dr. Bodor no longer responds to messages, the staff do that. And when they respond their replies are terse and usually don't address the matter your trying to resolve. Recently, Dr. Bodor referred me to specialists and when I went into the portal to check updates about my referrals, the messages were completely unhelpful. The messages said: "Complete as directed by your provider...Contact your organization for instructions on how to complete this test or procedure." So I tried to send a message for clarification and I was unable to send a message from MyChart. It was only after several failed attempts that I learned Dr. Bodor's office had transitioned to a different patient portal. There was ZERO notification of this. So I called the office to get clarification. The woman who I spoke with told me to make an appointment with the specialists and provide this information to the office so they could add it to the referrals. I did that. Over a week ago, I sent a message (through the new portal) with the appointment and doctor information, and I left a voicemail. I still haven't gotten a response. I have an appointment with one of the specialists tomorrow and still haven't received confirmation from Dr. Bodor's office that they have received the information I provided and that I am all set to keep the appointment. Do I cancel it? Do I go and risk wasting my time all to find out they don't have my referral? When you are unwell and you just want to get better, you should not have to worry about any of this. With all of the healthcare options available these days, you would think physicians' offices would strive to support patients in need of their care. But no. This abysmal conduct is unacceptable. Open enrollment is coming in the fall. I am searching for a new doctor. read more

Dr. Bodor is great, but her office is impossible to deal with. It also seems impossible to communicate with Dr. Bodor between appointments. Voicemails left for her are not returned, and their online portal is unbelievably quirky and antiquated, and not effective for communicating with the doctor. Trying to call the office and speak with somebody is an absolute nightmare. Nobody seems to ever answer, the queue is ridiculously long (e.g., "you are currently caller number 12 waiting to speak with a representative") and I never get through to somebody no matter how long I wait. They have an option to request a call back, but their system doesn't call back to either cell phone numbers or Google Voice. So if it works at all, it's only for land lines which almost nobody has any more. read more

My first experience with Dr. Bodor was ok but her recapped notes of our visit felt very off from our actual conversation. This made me feel uneasy and confused. When I responded with questions on the notes that she put in my file regarding our visit, I never heard back. Maybe she could be a good provider but the front desk staff is so unprofessional and unwilling to provide basic service, that it makes the whole experience very off-putting and unsettling. They faxed my mammogram paperwork to the wrong number (I had to follow-up with the correct fax number), this happened to me previously when I was seeing another provider in the same office. Come on, why do you not have the correct information when you send SO many people to the same imaging center? And I have blood work that I have been waiting on for 7 wks. I've emailed the doctor's office multiple times and called labcorp and labcorp is saying that they are waiting on the doctor's office for my insurance authorization and around and around we go. Every time I talk to the front office, they are rude and condescending and act really put out when you ask for assistance. I have many examples of how rude they have been when I have walked into the office, on my way out, via their messaging center, and on the phone but it's too much to go into here. Please hire new front desk staff. It is a direct reflection of you as the doctor if you allow such poor behavior and lack of support from your front desk staff. read more

I was referred to Dr. Bodor by another physician for my elderly father who is on Medicare. Before speaking to a live voice, I was a little concerned by the fact their recorded message states they want patients to reach out to their doctor via the on-line patient portal and it will take up to 48 hours to receive a call back. Between my parents and my own family, I deal with 16 different doctors and have never heard of a medical professional asking this to be the first line of communication. At the same time I scheduled my dad's appointment, I asked to schedule an appointment for my mom. When asking for my mom's insurance, I explained that she is on Medicare/Medi-Cal and also has private pay insurance. I was told by the scheduler that they couldn't accept my mom because of the Medi-cal. I explained that all my mom's doctors outside of the Skilled Nursing Facility where my mom lives, bill Medicare first and the medicare supplement policy second. I also told her my husband is a Health Care Administrator who deals with the Medicare/Medi-cal system and the explanation she was giving me was incorrect. She checked with another employee who also said they weren't allowed to take my mom because of the Medi-cal and they would get in trouble if they took my mom as a patient. To make a very long story short, I contacted Medicare and Medi-cal who told me the doctor's office was incorrect. I called Dr. Bodor's office to inform them and after being on hold for 4 minutes, hung up. My husband called the doctor's office and left a message. No one ever called him back. Subsequently, I found a doctor at Sutter who also told me Dr. Bodor's office was incorrect. He is taking my mom as a new patient. Having been given incorrect information, no return phone call and my initial concern, I decided I didn't want to take a chance on taking my dad to Dr. Bodor and would take him to my mom's new doctor. I contacted Dr. Bodor's office to cancel my dad's appointment and told the person who answered the phone that I was cancelling my dad's appointment because of the misinformation given to me about my mom and also for the lack of a return phone call. There were no apologies given. While I believe Dr. Bodor is a good doctor, her staff leaves a lot to be desired. Having managed my dad's business for the past 30 years, I know staff can make or break a business and are often the face of the business owner. If I was already having issues before stepping into the door with my dad, what was coming down the line? I didn't want to take chances. read more

Last update. Dr. Bodor eventually called me, apparently. She left a message that was somewhat helpful. I wasn't able to actually describe and discuss with her the pain I'm feeling...Which, in a way, is what I should have expected. Again, if and when you get to Dr. Bodor, you'll have a great experience. She is smart, responsive, warm - a great PCP. The problem is getting to her and I attribute that to her staff - not her. Or perhaps her, since she is ultimately responsible for them - or maybe it's a Brown & Toland problem. In any case, I felt it was only fair to comment on what's good about Dr. Bodor and that is the quality of the interaction if and when you get to her. read more

DR. BODOR ROCKS Dr. Bodor is a lovely person. She has the best bedside manner of any physician I've ever had in my 60+ years of trying to stay alive. She's very pleasant, has a great personality, listens well, and is very thorough. Perhaps most important in my book, though, is that if she doesn't know what ails me, she says she doesn't know. This is huge. So many doctors think they have to pretend to know it all. It can be iffy trying to call the office, but you can text Dr. Bodor with prescription and referral requests and whatnot, and she always responds promptly. read more

I am so happy to have found Dr. Bodor. After receiving all my care at CPMC in San Francisco, and deciding to find doctors in the East Bay instead, it took me a while to find the perfect one for me. She is not just knowledgeable; she is kind and patient; she customizes my care taking into consideration my incorporation of acupuncture, herbs and other holistic modes without prejudice Dr. Bodor also makes herself available in an acute situation or one of her partners will see you. Best g.p. I've ever had or could imagine. I'm with Kaiser, where I've found great care at the specialist and emergency care levels, less so with the gatekeeper g.p.'s, who I suspect (clearly I have trust issues) of being graded by stinting on the more expensive levels of care. So - I go to Dr. Bodor when I have some general issue requiring thought and concern. She's helped me a great deal in getting my anti-depressant and anti-anxiety meds and dosages straight, as well as trying to disentangle side-effects. She's a great listener; I sometimes leave her office embarrassed I've taken so much of her time, but she *never* indicates I have. She's the only doctor I trust when she tells me something I don't want to hear. She is patient and thorough, but if I could only one word to describe her it would be one used in Sari M.'s review - compassionate. read more

I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Bodor, an excellent and caring physician. She is patient and an excellent listener. As an elder, I especially appreciate being treated as an intelligent person while she is still understanding the impacts of aging.
