I appreciated everything about my interactions with her. Back then, she actually responded to most of the messages I sent through the MyChart portal. I could also, typically, get a live person on the phone. Or if I left a message, I could get a relatively prompt reply. I re-initiated care after a year or two and things have changed drastically. Dr. Bodor no longer responds to messages, the staff do that. And when they respond their replies are terse and usually don't address the matter your trying to resolve. Recently, Dr. Bodor referred me to specialists and when I went into the portal to check updates about my referrals, the messages were completely unhelpful. The messages said: "Complete as directed by your provider...Contact your organization for instructions on how to complete this test or procedure." So I tried to send a message for clarification and I was unable to send a message from MyChart. It was only after several failed attempts that I learned Dr. Bodor's office had transitioned to a different patient portal. There was ZERO notification of this. So I called the office to get clarification. The woman who I spoke with told me to make an appointment with the specialists and provide this information to the office so they could add it to the referrals. I did that. Over a week ago, I sent a message (through the new portal) with the appointment and doctor information, and I left a voicemail. I still haven't gotten a response. I have an appointment with one of the specialists tomorrow and still haven't received confirmation from Dr. Bodor's office that they have received the information I provided and that I am all set to keep the appointment. Do I cancel it? Do I go and risk wasting my time all to find out they don't have my referral? When you are unwell and you just want to get better, you should not have to worry about any of this. With all of the healthcare options available these days, you would think physicians' offices would strive to support patients in need of their care. But no. This abysmal conduct is unacceptable. Open enrollment is coming in the fall. I am searching for a new doctor.

She appears to be knowledgeable and competent, and I believe her initial clinical impressions of my symptoms may very well have been accurate. She also ordered the lab work I requested, which I appreciated. However, what stayed with me most was not the medical advice itself, but how I felt during the interaction. I left feeling patronized, judged, and disappointed by what I experienced as a lack of empathy and consideration in her tone and demeanor. There is nothing wrong with being direct, and I understand that physicians may disagree with a patient's own interpretation of their symptoms. But those conversations can still be handled with warmth, curiosity, and compassion--especially in a primary care setting where patients often arrive feeling vulnerable or anxious. My impression was that the communication style lacked that sense of empathy. Rather than leaving the appointment feeling informed and supported, I left feeling emotionally deflated and without any particularly meaningful insight beyond having my requested lab work ordered. I don't believe Dr. Womack-Batzdorf is a bad doctor or a bad person. She may simply have a communication style that works better for some patients than others. For me, though, the interaction left me feeling unheard and emotionally sensitive at a time when I was seeking both medical guidance and compassionate care.

She didn't read my chart and completely missed a pretty life-threatening issue. Just kept telling me to eat chicken soup. On a subsequent different appointment online she didn't even ask me what my temperature was. She was completely unhelpful, cold, and rude. Avoid!

PCPs in general are a challenge to find in my area, and thankfully she "appeared" just at the right time. I've hit have period where symptoms and remedies can interact, overlap and confuse and Dr. Beale is a star for identifying cause and untangling treatment and drug interactions. Upbeat, proactive and positive, I'm confident I've found a partner for the third chapter in my life.

I was dealing with several new medical diagnoses at the time--which is never ideal when transitioning to a new doctor--but Dr. Beal has been absolutely incredible. This is my first experience with a provider outside of Kaiser, and I can honestly say I've never felt so heard or understood by a doctor. I used to think the doctors on TV who really get to know their patients were fictional--but not with Dr. Beal! She takes her time, never rushes appointments, and genuinely listens. She encourages questions and never makes me feel silly for asking anything, no matter how basic it might seem. Dr. Beal is working with me to build a care plan that actually fits me--not a one-size-fits-all solution. I'm honestly so thankful that I had to leave Kaiser, because it led me to her. Highly recommend!
