I'm really disappointed with my experience with Suzie Q's Bakery. I reached out to place a cookie order and I confirmed my preference after being given pricing and options. From my perspective, everything was set and moving forward. Fast forward to the week of my event, I followed up to confirm pickup--only to be told there was no order because they "never received my reply." I understand that technical issues can happen, but this left me scrambling last minute to find an alternative for an event I had been planning. While I did receive an apology, I was also told it's "unrealistic" to follow up with customers who don't respond. Unfortunately, in situations like this--especially when it involves custom orders and time-sensitive events--some sort of confirmation system or follow-up would go a long way in preventing exactly this kind of issue. Not to mention I only ordered a dozen of cookies and was still not accommodated after showing I did respond well in advance. Overall, this experience was frustrating and stressful. I can't speak to the quality of the cookies, but from a customer service and communication standpoint, this was very disappointing. read more

I ate one of the best Pumpkin loaf breads ever - from Suzie Q's Bakery. I know it says on their business profile that they're in Corona - but I lucked out this past weekend when I stopped by their stand they had setup at the Irvine Modern Maker's Mart - over at that plaza where the AMC is, in Woodbridge. Just finished up seeing a movie, and decided to stroll the plaza for food ideas, when I saw the open-air market setup, and checked out the different vendors. Suzie Q had her stand setup near the end of my walk. I was warmly greeted right away as I stepped up to their booth. So many different treats, but what stood out for me was the pumpkin bread - I asked what was inside/what the bread was like. Suzie herself described it as moist (that alone piqued my interest, since I dislike dry breads) - spices, pumpkin. SOLD! Was bummed they didn't have another one - I picked up the last pumpkin loaf ($12). The pumpkin bread itself was DELICIOUS! If you love pumpkin like I do - this is it. The topping/crust has just the right amount of cinnamon-sugar crumbles - sorta like a coffee cake - but the loaf itself... each slice was full of pumpkin. I sliced out thick proportions sorta like a pound cake - and had a slice for with milk for breakfast these past few days. The bread maintained its moisture until the last bite - perfect. There's other goodies at their stand, but nothing that stood out to me since I wanted pumpkin stuff. Suzie shared that she's usually setting up shop at some of the other farmer's markets in the area. You can place an order on her website (she doesn't have a storefront) - but you'd have to make the trek up to Corona to pick your order up. read more

I ordered a custom 2-tier cake for my daughter-in-law's baby shower. Placing an order was very easy and Suzie was very prompt and clear in our communications back and forth. The theme for the baby shower was an unusual one - The Great British Baking Show - but Suzie managed to accommodate the theme in a creative and cute way, right down to matching the colors of the tv show set and the little fondant cutouts on the side of the cake (for example, a "chef's coat" onesie complete with the family name in tiny cursive). Not only was the cake beautiful; it was delicious. You could taste the quality ingredients. Everyone raved about the cake in appearance and taste. My favorite was the vanilla buttercream filling. It was better than any other vanilla buttercream I have tasted in any purchased cakes or what I have made myself. I was concerned about transporting a two-tier cake myself 30 miles to the shower, but Suzie boxed the cake on a very sturdy cake board and surrounding box and the cake arrived at its destination without any mishaps. Although custom cakes can be expensive, Suzie's prices are competitive and actually on the lower side compared to some of the other places I checked out. I highly recommend Suzie Q's Bakery. If I am ever in need of another special cake (or cookies) for a special occasion, I will be using Suzie Q's Bakery. read more

Most recently I ordered a selection of custom decorated cookies for a garden themed baby shower and they were absolutely perfect not only in appearance but in taste and consistency as well. A little over a year ago I ordered a selection of cookies, birthday cake pops and a vanilla cake with strawberry and whipped cream filling. Each was yummy, although I will neutrally say that the cake was more on the dense side. I need to try again! As for service, great communication, easy payment and pick up process. If you've found this business and now wondering if you should consider Suzanne to help bring your vision to life by making/designing a cake or making your dessert treats, I highly recommend her. I found her business on google and glad I did. I reached out to her through email about 3 weeks before I needed the cake/desserts. Her reply was fast, professional, and knowledgeable and had the date i needed available. (Her site does say it's best to book 4-6 weeks in advance) After we decided on everything I wanted, including items and flavors, as well as the theme and color schemes, she sent over an organized and detail invoice for payment. About one week before my pick up date, I emailed about a tiny addition and she was able to accommodate. Suzanne is very easy to work with. Her communication about picking up my order was clear and she is punctual. The day of pick up went smooth. I called her letting her know i was headed over and called again once i arrived. She was ready with my order and brought everything out to the car. I was extremely satisfied with her work and so was everyone at the party. For reference- cake is vanilla with fresh strawberries, 3 layers/ 10", and used Italian cream (we don't like sweet and it was perfect). Cake was dense (not a bad thing) and still very moist. Cake pop flavors were vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Mini shooters were lemon raspberry, chocolate oreo, and banana pudding. The dessert table was beautiful!
