I come away from services with things to think about, issues to ponder perhaps differently than I had been to that point, a depth or nuance of perspective on something I may have thought I already knew but didn't, and regular challenges to put faith into practice day by day where it makes a difference in action and isn't just a passive belief system. This church has people who are faithful and understand faithfulness. A lot of people think a lot of other things matter so much when it comes to church and what church is for and what the definition of a "successful" church is and how to turn church into what "we" may want, but Mountain Ridge isn't about a lot of these other things. We are about faithfulness to God. To what He asks of us. And to how to best serve others. This church's people try to keep its core purposes simple and undistracted, have for decades now, which I respect. I appreciate that there are honorable, thinking, and thoughtful people here who are doing their best to live out being faithful to God and to loving one's neighbors faithfully and well. I have been with this church since its beginning. I have been amazed at all God has done. How God has provided beyond what we could have imagined. How we are led over and over again to serve one another and our community, to love bigger and courageously, not small-mindedly and self-protectively, and to be thinkers and thoughtful in our faith. God has been ever present here. So many stories I could tell of his incredible faithfulness to us, his presence, his guidance, his provision. Just really thankful for being able to be a part of this church for so long and witness all God wanted to do here over the last two decades, and then some. God has led it. He has gone before it and will go after it. I have grown in my faith and as a person because of being a faithful part of Mountain Ridge. I have been changed by it. Nothing else in life challenges me more than this faith. Challenges me to serve others when I feel like serving myself. Challenges me to love people who are unlike myself. Challenges me to make effort to understand. Challenges me to be sacrificial. Challenges me to forgive. Nothing else challenges me to be my best self and give of my best to others more than this faith. Nothing. Mountain Ridge Community Church is about these kinds of core things. Not much else. And that's something I will always appreciate about the people and ministry here.

The gathering isn't just a sermon, but an opportunity to gather as the Church to grow to be more like Jesus together. I trust all of the pastors and leaders there, and not just because they do the right things, but because I have personally witnessed their vulnerability and humility, and I see how they are continuing to pursue Jesus, and pursue a life that looks more like him, and they desire for others to experience the same. Practically speaking, the kids ministry is great, and my kids love it, so not only does it give us an opportunity to focus on the gathering, but they are actually excited to go every week! The church is also very good at connecting new people with a small group (MC) where they will feel comfortable and grow. Also, they serve great coffee. :)

My kids were born, raised, and baptized at the Image Church. The feeling of community that the senior pastors managed to foster among the "members" is second to none. They lead by example, with grace, and an open home. They invest into people generously without expecting anything in return. Although every ministry is operating with excellence, my favorite ministry is the Image KidZ ministry. My kids have never once asked to skip any event. From weekly Sunday services, to occasional movie nights, community events, camps, bake sales and holiday parties, my kids have cleared their schedules and mine to attend. And you know how you know if it's good? When your kids are too old to participate and still sign up to volunteer. You will find your community. You will find a family, even if you've never had one. You will find shoulders to cry on and stand on. You will find people to celebrate you, challenge you, and walk alongside your deepest valleys and highest mountains. No one claims to be perfect, far from it...the authenticity and vulnerability is yours to see and share, as you feel comfortable. But most importantly, Holy Spirit is here in the most real, precious, and powerful way. It is impossible not to see him in the genuine smiles and feel him in the warm embraces. I have matured and grown as a person, a friend, a child of God in this church family. But don't take my word for it. Come see for yourself and discover something you didn't know you were missing.
