I know, I gave it 5 stars and that never happens...but this place is really special. First, it is a carry-out only. Just enough room to get in, get your order and a few drinks and move on. We have been here twice in the past 3 weeks and tried different dishes each time. They have hit it out of the park with each one. Curry Goat - excellent, not too spicy. Curry Chicken - spot on perfect. Jerk Chicken - very good but not spicy enough for me. Still very tasty. Rice and peas - not overly dry like many I have had, very flavorful and cooked tender. (these are as good as the ones I cook). Plantains - excellent, sweet and nicely done. I always get a few Tings to chase it all down. It is hard to find these drinks in the states. They have a large assortment of caribbean sodas. I love this place and I will go back every Friday for my BBF until we pull out of Lakeland and head north for the summer. read more

In all fairness, I just returned from Ohio Rios, where I had authentic jerk pork! I was hoping for a repeat performance, but sadly, that was not the case. Further covering the jerk pork with what I think was oxtail gravy only brought out the point, the pork was dry. The cabbage was cold, so I'm not sure exactly what I was waiting for to get my meal. Great caring staff and a clean setting with delicious rib sticking food, in the words of Jr "That hit the spot". Ordered the jerk chicken that was spiced & had the heat perfectly for me. Jr ordered the stewed chicken & Nancy got the ox tail. The gravy for all 3 was so good we soaked it up with their coco bread. With rice and peas and plantains, you can not leave there empty. Too bad Corona 19 kept the stores closed. We needed to walk it off. They also introduced us to sorrel. Hibiscus tea mixed with ginger that was cold and refreshing. This is the absolute worst Caribbean food that I have ever had. The Jerk Chicken tastes like baked chicken with Jerk sauce. The entree was said to be large I had a plate of bones. The rice and peas have absolutely no flavor and the cabbage taste like it is from a can. I called ahead and ordered and still waited over twenty minutes with one person ahead of me. Every now and then Vicky and I discover a new place that really puts out great food this time, it was here. We both got jerk ckicken and we were just astonished at the flavors bursting forth. It was warm dining in, perhaps the AC was on the fritz. If it's out again, we'll just do takeaway. But, our hosts were very nice and we got to chat a bit.
