Although this location is mostly a takeout spot, we were traveling through Central Florida, and I'm always looking at places with good yelp reviews so we stopped and ate lunch. We had traveled to Jamaican in the last two years and enjoy the food so we're always looking to see if there's a spot we can try BNG had good reviews so we stopped in this little unassuming spot in a strip mall to Joy, some curry and beef patties. The curry was excellent, we both enjoyed it and would definitely stop here again maybe for takeout or just sit down for a quick lunch again. Gentleman Running shop was extremely friendly and was very glad that we made the time to eat at his restaurant.. I decided to give B&G Prestige another chance for lunch recently and had a better experience this time around. On this occasion I ordered the Jerk Chicken. The meat was tender and covered in a flavorful spicy jerk sauce and sat on a bed of soft rice. The side of cabbage and carrots was nicely tender. So glad I came across this spot through Yelp because the food was amazing!! All the reviews were correct! The curry goat was some of the best I've had! So favorable and tender. Got the small portion and was still a large portion. The cheesy cornbread was sweet and yummy! If you're a cornbread lover, you'll love it! Looking for a new restaurant to try in Bartow led us to B&G Prestige Jamaican Restaurant located in the strip mall at 1220 N. Broadway Ave., in Bartow. This is a very small restaurant with only two people on staff. I ordered the Large Jerk Chicken which came on a bed of rice and beans. For my sides I had the mac and cheese and green beans. The chicken was very flavorful, and I liked it. My wife had the small order of turkey neck which also came on a bed of rice and beans, and she had a side of green beans. She said it was not spicy (which is a good thing for her), but she wished that there was more meat on the neck bones. There are only 4 tables in this restaurant and most of their business is take out, so the food was served in take-out containers. Drove 30 minutes just to pick up dinner to go last night based upon previous Yelp reviews, and they were spot on. The food was downright delicious. We tried the jerk chicken, curried goat, and the oxtail, and they were all fantastic. Nothing but good old fashioned Jamaican home cooking. Well worth the drive! read more

This review is in two parts, part 1 is from my son, who is a kiddo with pretty limiting dietary restrictions who was dying to go to this restaurant while we were visiting from out of town. Part 1: This place is delicious! Great food and a variety of drinks you can choose from. Everyone there is also very helpful and kind, and Jamaican food is hard to find, so I was happy when I went to this place. Part 2: The owners spoke to me when I called on the phone prior to eating there. They were SO accommodating for my son's dietary needs and when we arrived were ready to make him a bit of a special plate. Our party of five loved the delicious food, and the way we were treated by staff was awesome. I have been in Polk county working for the past few weeks and have eaten at many places and so far, hands down B&G takes the #1 spot! Customer service was amazing and the food even more. Goat dry. Mac and cheese BLAND. Cabbage BLAND no seasoning. Rice and peas barely tasted of anything. And to add insult to injury I kept telling the girl on the phone that I wanted only ONE plate and I reiterated twice over the phone and had her repeat back to me the ONE plate I wanted. This is the best Jamaican food I've ever had and to be clear this is the first time I've ever ate Jamaican food. What you do is walk up to the counter and order your food and then sit down and they bring it to you in styrofoam containers in bags with napkins and forks people were very friendly. Inside their is about 4 or 5 tables to sit with can or bottle drinks with hot sauces available and a tv playing reggae videos. I had the curry goat red beans and rice with cabbage and Jamaican slaw I loved everything the meat super tender cabbage was sweet and slaw was really good. My wife had oxtail red beans and rice and cabbage with corn bread only thing she was disappointed with was she didn't have as much meat as I did, but she loved everything as well oxtail was delicious and tender. Family owned restaurant very friendly like I said please come support your community and hard working people who make delicious food.
