Swap is my go-to place for clothes, shoes and purses. I especially want to commend Marion who has helped me tremendously. At the last minute I have twice, recently, needed a dress for two different dressy events. I asked Marion for help, and within 5 minutes, both times, she came up with the dress, the purse and the shoes. I would not have been able to find and put together the outfits that she did for me. Dropped in here the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the great variety of clothes and the reasonable prices they offered! My friend and I ended up getting a couple pieces each, all lightly worn and fairly priced. The front desk worker was super friendly as well. They explained that the sales and prices depend on timing. After one month, the item goes 15% off, after another few weeks, it will be marked down 25%, and so on. So if you have your eye on something but aren't sure it's worth that price you can always take a gamble and check back in a couple of weeks! Swap sold faulty shoes with latent defects that could not be determined until they were worn. Instead of offering to replace the shoes the best they would do is offer a 20% discount on a future purchase. Be careful when buying products here as you may end up with faulty products. read more

Had a mini-shopping-palooza today and hit a few of the clothing consignment shops (Prima Donna, Swap, Encore, and On the Other Hand) uptown in search of a formal gown that would fit my short, curvy self. So I feel confident in my comparisons. Swap is a newer store in the University Section and seems to cater mostly to the college crowd. That said there were some cute shoes, jackets, etc in mostly nicer mall brands (J. Crew, Banana Republic, Jessica Simpson). The prices were good and the shop was well organized. It was also the smallest of the four stores I went to, but that was OK since I was getting overwhelmed by volume, so it was nice to have some actual breathing room. read more

Swap is one of my favorite consignment shops in town. They have a fabulous selection of designer (and not so designer) clothing and accessories and prices are wide ranging. A lot of what they have here is practically new and super affordable. I have been on the hunt for the "perfect" light summer dress and I found it here. Not only was the dress like new, but it was fairly inexpensive. even though it was a "name" brand. The staff is friendly and will help you find anything you need and there is a nice selection of shoes and hand bags as well, to complete the outfit. read more

Swap has grown and so has my love for their merchandise. I can always in and ooh and aah over the items they receive. While there's no love for plus-sized clothing, I can pick up a great handbag in all price ranges. Their staff is friendly, and they use a discerning eye when picking items to sell. I still wish I could have purchased the Roger Vivier mustard-yellow handbag.... There's other locations, but this one is still Number One in my heart. read more

How do I begin to sing praises in order to convey the fantasticness/fabulousness/ all the other Rachel Zoe jargon conveying amazingness that is Swap? I will take a gander. Ultimately, Swap has singlehandedly eliminated my need to ever go to Lakeside Mall or Canal place, and has given me the wonderful ability of clicking delete when I get a sale notice from Banana or J. Crew because I know I can get the item at Swap in the same condition for less money. First, the owner, Michelle, is fabulous. It is like she has read every how to make your employees and people around you respect and love you book on the market. Or maybe it's innate for her. I don't know. Michelle is a genuinely kind person, who signs every single one of her business' emails with every single store associates name. In a world of faceless corporations, that means a considerable amount. Swap discounts items on a schedule. I know they do at 30 and 60 days, so you can take a gamble and watch an item if you are in love. Swap has only been open for a little over two years, and nearly half of my wardrobe went to be consigned there and the other half has been rejuvenated by it. My finds include Theory shirt dresses for 15 dollars, silk Club Monaco skirts for under 30, Coach wallets and wristlets, Tory Burch clutches for under 100, a Guess red peacoat that was Blair Waldorf worthy for under 70, banana republic silk tops, etc. How did this happen you say? Michelle opened her store in a section of town that has wealthier liberal arts schools literally 2,500 feet away (tulane and loyola) and is wedged in a wealthier part of new orleans. So, an influx of a revolving market with a disposable income. Brilliant! She works her butt off to get the word out about her store to New Orleans' ladies who lunch who then bring their garmets here. (Thankfully) There is no hipster ridiculous pretentiousness here (Im lookin' at you Buffalo Exchange) and they are always kind when you consign your items. I have never been treated anything but wonderfully by Michelle and her crew. If you are in the area, make a point to stop here. Honestly, I would work here for free if it were legal, but well, we both know there are labor laws. note: sign up for store emails because Swap loves coupons as much as you budget fashionistas do, and they also have an ebay edition of their store. read more

Swap is a cute, upscale consignment shop. They carry all kind of brands everything from Forever 21 to Marc Jacobs. The service is really top notch, personable and authentic. Their prices range from a few dollars to a hundred dollars and sometimes all over the place but I guess that is what you get when the consignors pick their price. read more

I really needed some "grown-up" clothes. I decided to go to both Swap locations to try and find some pieces that I could wear out with my husband or on an occasion that called for more than my usual jeans and tank top. I got two dresses and two tops for about $125. Nice, quality clothes! They fit so much better than what I usually buy. The best part was the staff. At both locations they were helpful. I really wanted to make sure what I was buying was current and right for my age and that I would be wearing it properly. These young women are an asset to this store, imo. I will be returning to buy clothing in the future. read more

Not a fan. I have never found anything at this store that warranted a purchase, at either the woman's or kids location. I find the quality of the merchandise to be of low quality and very expensive. I'm not paying a lot of money for a used dress, I don't care what the label. The clothes in the window are always cute, but nothing in the store even compares. read more
