I experienced one of the absolute worst visits to a medical facility in my life today. At the ER. Medicaid discrimination is very prominent here. I was put through major emotional & physical distress due directly to being treated very poorly by multiple staff members on the medical team & the social worker also. I got injured in early June 2025 while on vacation. This hospital was the closest. I needed stitches in my leg after falling. The ER doctor failed to realize exactly how deep my wound was. He stitched it up with very little post-visit instructions and no antibiotics which led to me developing VERY painful cellulitis up to my knee. He was in too much of a hurry to handle my care to the extent it needed to be handled. It's now 3 months later and the injury is still open and has not healed. I am now forced to go to wound care 5 days per week because of how this injury was handled. The other staff were great and I have zero complaints in that department. read more

I am a teenage girl, mind you, and my parents switched our insurance and we began coming to Swedish around 6 months ago, and we have been disappointed every time. It takes months for you to get an appointment in any department, and scheduling a follow up is even worse. They are very disorganized, a lot of the employees are rude/disrespectful, and the parking is a complete disaster. Most of the doctors I have seen so far have been "bored" or uninterested in me every time I have gone to get my autoimmune issues checked out and have just refereed me to other departments. Insurance does not cover a ton either, this is possibly the worst hospital I have ever been to. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!! read more

RN Eric in ER!!!! behavior was absolutely unacceptable. My husband had been vomiting for nine days was super weak, and we simply asked for a wheelchair. Instead of helping, he rolled his eyes on me... Throughout our entire time there, he was extremely rude and unpleasant. People like him should not be working in the Emergency Room--or in the medical field at all. I will never return to this hospital. Updating after having 4 procedures done here this year. 5 stars for the doctors and nurses here. 4 stars because it took 4 ER visits before they finally figured out what was wrong. All of the surgeons, doctors, nurses and CNA's were top notch for those who diagnosed me properly and helped me. Techs were also fabulous, especially the one that asked me my choice of music during a 1 hour test. The lab people were also the most patient and compassionate lab people I have ever worked with. I've been in many hospitals in 3 states and have to get lab work done at least monthly. Finding a vein on me is very difficult. The lab folks here took their time and didn't blindly poke me or cause me undue pain. The place is clean and well taken care of. Visitors to the hospital are being limited due to covid to 1 visitor a day. read more

I genuinely had to make sure I didn't walk into a Group Health when I got in here. I get only having one visitor in at a time for patients, but to not allow those visitors to switch is absolutely asinine. That's a pretty common practice, considering people can't sit at a hospital all day. I went to visit my mom, and when her husband showed up the male nurse at admitting said he wasn't allowed in because I was there. No problem, I'll head home and take a shower / grab some dinner. Nope. They won't let him in because I had "already been there." ???? How does that make any sense??? Could've just been the staff working, because they seemed highly incompetent, but if not - that's an extremely outdated policy. In the two hours I was there, no one came to check on her. No one did the tests she was waiting on. The only person we saw was someone stocking the drawers in the rooms (who didn't even properly close the medcart. The drawers were full accessible). I would literally rather let some rando in the parking lot treat me, than step foot in this place. read more

This is a review for the Colon and rectal clinic, specifically Dr Bastawrous. I have seen him for various procedures and he is an excellent Dr. More than just knowledgeable, he is also customer oriented. I always get nervous for any type of care when I need sedation and he is really good at reassuring me that it will work out regardless of the outcome. Went for ER visit and for Dr Moen. ER visit took a long Time and was busy. Had a tough time hearing reception when walking in to answer questions. My son was in excruciating pain and I was trying to tend to him and get all info relayed they needed but it seemed like there was a lack of urgency. I noticed this with woman next to me also checking in and she was on verge of vomiting. But I was trying to hear right next to her. Maybe its the plexi glass but seemed like they could have spoken louder at checkin which would have helped move it along and get us all to treatment quicker. Dr Moen js 10 stars. Literally the best doctor I've encountered ever. My son broke his wrist and she was able to operate on him in Seattle then cast him in Issaquah a couple days later. She was too Notch and patient and covered most our questions before we even would ask them. She was also quick and efficient and has put my son on a fast track to recovery. There was confusion only from mychart where we didnt realize we needed to go to imaging first. But she alone is the reason I would give Swedish Issaquah a 10. The gift shop reminded me of a high end hallmark boutique. I could have stayed in there for hours. The starbucks was stocked and moved fast. The food truck outside was awesome given the cafe was only open to employees. Looks to be open to public Sept 27. read more

At least my experience due to my chronic illnesses ER visits can be multiple so overtime I do get to know the staff only one time today every here nurses talking nasty about me, I confronted them politely I reported it situation was remedied as far as I know I did not have to deal with her again. After being with the Swedish Team for almost all my life from age 11. Finally, I had the worse experience with Dr. Eric Michael Schultz. I had Amazing Doctors in the past and this was for sure not like all the Amazing and Kind and wonderful Swedish Doctors that I know and have come to love and respect. I have been having sinus and ear pain. I went to see Doctor Shultz. He came in the room very cold and seemed upset. Did not ask anything about me or even my name. He came to look in my ear when i told him my ear hurts and i may have an infection and when out of reflux i reached out he yelled "Do NOT touch me". I was just shocked. Then he said he said i see inflammation in your ear. I asked if i have Sinus infection. Without looking or checking he immediately said No. I was thinking I am wearing a Mask how would you know? Which I am sure i do have sinus infection and now i have to go see another Doctor for it. Then he tried prescribing me Cortisone which ALL over my file it is stated that I am severely Allergic. I told him I am severely allergic to cortisone, and he still prescribe the Cortisone based and a steroid. At this point I thought he has no idea what he is doing and left. read more

Swedish is one of the most disorganized, disagreeable hospitals I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with. I'd give negative 5 stars if it were possible. Let's start with the medical staff. If the problems ended here they would've gotten a 3-star review from me. The staff was dismissive of my concerns and kept pivoting me away from the healthcare plan that I wanted to stay on without much of an explanation. I felt a lot of judgement from the staff which made me uncomfortable and didn't inspire me to trust them enough to come forward with any other concerns. I got a second opinion UW Medicine and they treated me like a human being - not just a case. Now for their billing system. What a raging ball of chaos and negligence. It doesn't matter what kind of insurance you have, they will take forever and a year to file it. I switched insurance companies in August 2022 and updated my information then, thinking that I may have another visit with them in the future. Let's make insurance A pre-August 2022 and insurance B post-August 2022. My last visit was in March 2022. I didn't get the bill untill Nov 2022 where I found out that they billed insurance B instead of insurance A. Strike one, it took them AT LEAST five months to bill me. Strike two, billing the wrong insurance - because of course insurance B won't cover anything before August 2022. When I tried calling to tell them they billed the wrong insurance, (which, by the way, they WILL HANG UP without picking up after 30 minutes! I had to call six times before finally talking to a human!) they told me they no longer have my previous records and that it wasn't their problem. That phonecall left me breathtakingly astounded. Strike three, blatant negligence. Strike four (?!?) unreasonably long wait times on the phone. I mean, do you want this bill paid or not?? They had me running around in circles calling a bunch of different departments who all said it wasn't their responsibility, and told me to call again after I found my old records and hung up. That one call took me over an hour on a business day. Not everyone has that kind of time to burn on a useless phonecall. I've made multiple phonecalls where I've just had to hang up because I didn't have enough time to wait around for them to get me off of hold. I contacted insurance A to help me out -- life happened, so after a big move etc., it had been months and Swedish was threatening to send my bill to collections. I'm not paying this out of principle because I KNOW it's covered by insurance A. So I call insurance A and they offered to mediate and call them for me while I'm on the line. You'd think Swedish would have a special line just for insurance companies, but no, that call took over 2 hours most of which we were just waiting around on hold. Insurance A was also redirected multiple times to different departments (after being hung up on and calling different numbers) before the matter was finally resolved. Jesus H. Christ. What an unnecessarily stressful ordeal. And no, I didn't have to pay a single cent. Moral of the story: if you want to keep your hair from going white stay far, far away from Swedish. My wife came here with a pregnancy complication at 20 weeks. Dr Fox properly diagnosed the issue but said she'd lose the fetus and to terminate - no other options presented. After a rough night thinking we'd lose the kid we went for a second opinion at UW Valley. They presented other options and while they weren't likely to work we tried them. BTW this wasn't revolutionary stuff, a Google search can find studies of treatment options Swedish failed to present. 13 weeks later my son was born at UW Valley and is healthy. Needless to say I'm very displeased with the quality of care here after needlessly suggesting terminating my son and being less useful than Google. I'm sure for routine things Swedish would be fine, but no way I'd entrust my family here again. read more

This hospital is a joke. None of the doctors seem invested in their patients and their health and they just pass you around to as many specialist and tests as your insurance will allow and nothing actionable seems to come from their results and diagnosis. The doctors are asked to see too many patients, And they don't listen to what you have to say they are just in a hurry to collect on their next appointment. I've spent a lot of time and money seeing doctors here and am ready for a practice that actually will help. I've gotten similar opinions from people without expressing my own first. On top of that they've been cancelling appointments for the last two months during this covid issue, which IMO you can take precautions but you're a hospital that is probably well equipped and are leaving people with serious conditions out to hang. I've been going to Swedish Issaquah for about 18 years now. Dr. Kim Pruess-Nevins has been my doctor throughout this time. I have two other family members that see her as well- we all love her. I've delivered three babies at Swedish and saw Dr. Emily Reus for each. My three children see Dr. Sarah Stanos. Each of these doctors has been personable and genuinely cared about me and my family's wellbeing. I'm so grateful for them! For the last three years, we have lived 40 minutes away and still continue to visit our doctor's at Swedish. Thank you! read more

5 stars for the doctors and nurses here. 1 star for Swedish/Providence upper management. This review is mainly for the OB/GYN and Labor and Delivery doctors and nurses. I've delivered two babies here and while each was vastly different from the other as far as circumstances and degree of difficulty, both times, the doctors and nurses from conception, checkups to delivery and discharge were nothing short of INCREDIBLE. My primary OB/GYN is Dr. Kipa-Joseph and she's amazing. She's so knowledgeable and thorough, but also has this way of making you feel calm, collected and - dare I even say it - confident! She's so good at easing all your nerves and fears and putting you in the best frame of mind in preparation for birth. She's seriously the best. I also have to shout out the highest praise for the nursing staff in labor and delivery, as well as in post partum care. They work incredibly long shifts and literally do everything for patients. The nurses taking care of me were so dedicated and diligent, I literally never saw them take a lunch break (even though they assured me they ate!). They are all so caring and compassionate. My first baby was difficult and the nursing staff and all the doctors I saw were beyond amazing at making me feel comfortable and taken care of. Nurses even stayed beyond their shift to make sure everything was okay. Which leads me to my next point. I really despise supporting an organization that doesn't recognize the hard work and labor of their most important employees - the doctors and nurses. It's obvious that this hospital needs more staffing. It's also obvious that the current staff is amazing and has stepped up way beyond what they should to make sure the patients don't feel like the hospital is short staffed. This isn't their job. They deserve WAY more compensation than the idiotic upper management bureaucrats that have literally done nothing for patients while these nurses and doctors do everything. Sorry not sorry to go off on a rant, but the nurses and doctors at this location are the only reason I keep coming back. The lack of integrity of this company and obvious lack of care for patients from their upper management makes me want to run screaming to any other hospital in the area. PAY YOUR NURSES, HIRE MORE NURSES, STOP TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HOW AMAZING THEY ARE. Also, to the "volunteer" who came to my post partum room yesterday to ask how often the nurses stop by, etc, I hope you wrote down my answer - the nurses all stopped by more frequently than the number you were quoting me as gospel and they are perfect and amazing in every way. read more

I would not give any stars for this shit hole if that was a choice. I'm currently standing in theER with my wife, who is in extreme pain, throwing up, with sweat running down her forehead, and they're treating her as though she just has a stubbed toe or some other ridiculous condition. A nurse came by and got her info, and made some snarky remark about not being able to materialize a bed when my wife asked for one. Now they rolled her back out to the lobby, making her sit in a wheelchair in front of other people waiting to see a doctor for whatever crap they're not in severe pain for. Meanwhile she's puking her guts out in public, while I stand here, unable to do anything. If this is how people are treated here I am never coming back, and I will make sure to leave a nasty review on every site I can find. Swedish, you are a disgrace. read more

We came here because my husband was bleeding a lot. The floor where he was standing was full of blood. No one showed urgency. I observed that the woman that opened the door after a long wait, the nurse and the doctor were snarky, snotty and lacked compassion in every single aspect. I am appalled and I am trying to figure out why this treatment towards my husband. No one offered him water, a blanket or changed his soaked bloody towel for 2 hours. They will come to check on him but will leave fast like they did not want to be bothered by us. I had to ask a staff helper that was cleaning the floor for these. He was the only nice person that provided these without hesitation. It was a horrible experience and we are glad he was taken to another hospital that really cared for him and showed compassion. It helped us forget our experience. One observation, the gentleman that gave my husband water and a blanket was a person of color like us. The other staff members that lacked compassion were not. We will NEVER return! read more

I had an extraordinary experience with the OB-GYN/Labor & Delivery department. I recently gave birth to my second child at this location, and I was beyond impressed with the quality of care I received. I had a poor experience giving birth with my first child at Overlake, and my excellent experience with Swedish Issaquah has done wonders in erasing that bad experience from my memory. I truly have never been at an institution with a higher caliber of people. From receptionists to doctors, Swedish clearly has a high standard for their hiring process and they clearly pick the finest quality of people. Furthermore, they must have a clear mission statement, because I felt treated the same by everyone I encountered. It seems everyone has the same standards and philosophies when it comes to patient care. I cannot speak highly enough about Swedish Issaquah. It was a wonderful experience. Childbirth is possibly the most important event in anyone's life, and I was so lucky to have such extraordinary people beside me during my child's arrival. read more

For workers and patients alike, this is one of the best hospitals I have seen. Every single person there is kind, gentle, smiling, and willing to help. I love coming here and seeing the shops on the first floor, and all the people who come here knowing it is a nice place to relax besides being a hospital. The piano in the back of the front entrance is huge and there is always someone playing something beautiful there. I love the huge fireplace with the seats right next to it which make it so comfortable and relaxing. I have never heard one complaint from anyone of this place, and I completely agree Swedish Issaquah is amazing. read more

NEVER GOING BACK! Was seen here for breast care. Ended up being diagnosed with breast cancer. The lack of compassion and care was horrendous. They did not properly explain my cancer to me at the onset - scheduled me to work with a Nurse Practitioner at my initial appointment, she had a bedside manner that was awful - almost walked out of my appt because I said that I really wanted to hear this from a MD. She accused me of "insulting" her! I was appalled. Because of this, I was put on the back burner and they scheduled my surgery/treatment out 8.5 weeks after diagnosis. This was 3 weeks past the time frame recommended by the American Cancer Society for this type of cancer. When I pleaded to have it reviewed and done earlier, I was met with emails that were Dripping with sarcasm and told to ask my second opinion on what they thought about time frames! I did and they were shocked as well. Needless to say, I discharged them from my xareteam. I wasted six crucial weeks of time with these people. They think they are God, playing with peoples lives. My 4th baby arrived in the world unexpectedly at 34 weeks and spent 22 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Swedish Issaquah's Level 2 Nursery. Prior to her birth, I received prenatal care under the supervision of Swedish Issaquah's midwives. My experience points to major, systemic failures in the care of women and their babies who are born early. I entered the NICU as an experienced mother who had previously breastfed three children. I was startled by the lack of support and at times outright hostility from care providers, especially Dr. Faranek Davalian, over my decision to breastfeed my preterm baby and outdated feeding protocols that operate to disadvantage mothers who breastfeed. Dr. Davalian initially refused to allow me to breastfeed my baby on an emptied breast. It is well established that non-nutritive sucking improves breastfeeding rates and enances mother-infant bonding. Only after I challenged her decision was I allowed to breastfeed my baby, a task that required enormous emotional energy at an intensely vulnerable moment just days postpartum. Feeding protocols in the NICU require babies to be fed by bottles by limiting the number of breastfeeding attempts. This is despite evidence that focusing on breastfeeding first increases rates of breastfeeding at discharge. Seattle Children's recommends a "72 hour protocol" in which mothers are allowed to focus exclusively on breastfeeding for 3 days with no "strings attached". When asked about the rationale for this protocol, providers traveled in misinformation, claiming that breastfeeding was more difficult than bottle feeding, that babies would tire out more quickly when breastfeeding, and that if I wanted my baby discharged, I should just focus on bottlefeeding. Dr. Davalian was especially discouraging, claiming without evidence that when my baby was discharged she would likely only be breastfeeding 1-2 times per day. Peer institutions in the region, including Seattle Childrens and Evergreen Healthcare, do far more to support women and babies in the NICU. Swedish should learn from their example. Until they do, beware of having them care for your preterm baby. read more

I primarily come here to the 4th floor for Neuro appointments and I LOVE Kate Kennedy and her team! They are extremely attentive and make a point to explain any medical terms in digestible forms. Campus is beautiful, nurses are nice, but beware, their business practices are criminal. * Up-coding to insurance company - costing you more in out of pocket expenses. * Unauthorized procedure resulting in a part of my body being sent off to a lab for storage. They failed to return phone calls to discuss the situation and instead, their billing department credited me $300 that the lab charged. A discussion surrounding the incompetence of the matter and a real solution is still pending after 7 months. * Fail to send itemized statements or chart notes as requested on 17 occasions. * Fail continuously to return 38 phone messages to the billing department, operations department and the hospital administrator over 7 month period. * The business office is scripted so no matter who you speak to, you will never get a supervisor even if you call daily for months - they are always out on vacation. read more

Dr. Bretz came off as very dismissive. Tests were run for the mix of swelling, numbness, tingling and pain on the right side of my body only for me to leave with a discharge form saying the medical term for my symptoms. No actual diagnosis, no help with the horrible feeling that has caused restless nights that I can not afford as I have 3 children, a job and home to tend to alone. Just a "well, you're not dying" type attitude and told to follow up with my primary physician so she can help. So basically, suffer until then or come back if you're almost dead. Every concern I voiced was interrupted and passed through as if it didn't matter what I felt or was going through. Swedish has really fallen off over the years as far as real treatment goes for both people and their sicknesses. I will go where there are more empathetic doctors that will hear you out, find a diagnosis and actually help. I got no relief, not even advice on home remedies for relief. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS EMERGENCY DEPT. *update* turns out even my doctors office couldn't believe there was no relief provided by the emergency doctor, as they made their diagnosis as to why I was in so much pain. It ended up being more serious than the ER treated it. read more

I recently broke my ankle hiking on late Friday afternoon. I arrived at the ER in mild shock and considerable pain. My care was flawless from the orderly who picked me up in a wheelchair at the curb to Malena at the desk, the nurses (Pam) in admitting and XRay (Kimberlee, and Jessica), and Robert who made sure I knew how to use the crutches and wouldn't hurt myself doing so. A double thanks to Dr Stephen Bretz who not only showed me and explained my injury, but he took the time to make sure I understood and knew what steps to take after leaving the ER. Dr Bretz called me a few days later to check on my condition, make sure I was following directions for care, and offered to help. This is fabulous care! While it is my first experience, my family has been to this ER. Care has always been at this level of quality. Because of this, this ER is our Go-To for emergencies. Just trying to get an appointment has been a process!!!!! Transferring over to swedish since they are the one place that accept coordinated care insurance, I've not been able to get beyond the receptionist!!! I keep getting told the doctor is looking over our transfer (from Evergreen) files for over a week! Worse is the attitude of the receptionists (esp Danielle)!! Its one thing to take their time processing in the backend and rhen it's a whole entire thing where keeping the patient and their family informed with status updates instead of leaving them in the dark and a weird "radio silence"!!! I've not had this kind of an experience where we cant even get ti the doctor or nurses to have a proper conversation with!! read more
