I've used Sweep Away cleaning service for the last 4 years and referred family and friends to them. I book online and pay before is rendered and tip in cash. However, now I've had 3 bad cleaning services from 4 different cleaners they employ. They often speak no english and can be communicated with verbally. Often dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathroom cleaning is a hit or mostly a miss. I have communicated to company owners on multiple occasions. They only offer send the bad cleaners back or a $20 discount on a $130 + service. I deserve and expect better service!!! read more

I had scheduled a deep clean for my house because I have two toddlers and 2 dogs and wanted my house really clean for my newborn that was due at the end of January. I got the job scheduled for Friday, 1/28 not knowing I'd be coming home from the hospital with my newborn that day. When the female arrived to clean our house at 9:00 am, my children's nanny was there and kept us informed of everything that was going on, and we could see with our in home cameras. The female started cleaning our downstairs, and without finishing, left to complete another house. She didn't come back to finish my house until 7 pm!! I was livid because we were on our way home when we spoke to her and she informed us she brought someone else with her to finish the job. I did not want strangers in my house when I got home with my newborn but they were already there. Then! They asked to come back the next day to finish the job. I followed up with a text and phone call to the owner (left a message) about wanting to speak to them about the experience, and have not gotten any response back. The females did a half assed job and rushed through cleaning because of leaving not even halfway through completing my house. Sweep Away has been cleaning our house every two weeks for 7 or 8 years now, maybe more. Stephen and Josh are very professional, easy to work with and go the extra mile to accommodate us whenever we need to adjust our regular cleaning schedule. If short staffed, they will clean the house themselves! Their staff are neat in appearance and do a good job cleaning our house. They work steadily and don't waste time as they move through the house. In addition to the regular points they clean, we can leave a note asking them to pay particular attention to a specific area - like after the holidays or when a "sweet but shedding" granddog has visited :). I got the deal for Sweep Away Cleaning and I'm very disappointed. They did not do a good clean at all and I had to hire someone else to clean behind them. I will never use this service again. I like livingsocial and this is the first time I was so disappointed! they advertised 3 rooms for $39.00. Thier staff was very nice and professional. They were supposed to do living room, kitchen and bathroom. My entire apt is only about 700 sq feet so not a huge feat. They did not clean behind doors, sweep under dining table, and just kind of cleaned around counters. Not pleased at all!! They advertise a much more thorough checklist and I did not receive that quality of service at all. I realize this was an introduction deal but I should have rec'd the quality of cleaning as if it were full price. I wondered how they could get it all done in just an hour. Now I know - they literally just did a very cursory clean and left. Very Very disappointed and the second team I hired from another service was appalled at what your girls left undone less than a week ago. I scheduled a move out service. They sent one person for a 2200 square foot home. She basically cleaned the oven and the fridge. I started to clean the house myself until I became so angry with everything that was not done that I called them. They didn't wipe my cabinets or countertops in the kitchen. They wiped the front of the fridge only and scratched it. They didn't mop the floors. They didn't touch the bathrooms except one single swipe on the mirrors and the toilets. The baseboards were OK downstairs but not touched in the bathrooms. When I called they seemed very responsive and I really thought they would remedy the issues. They did come back out to complete the job I paid for, except they STILL didn't clean my tubs and showers. I ended up cleaning pretty much the whole house myself after they were given not one but two opportunities to do their job. I bought a Groupon for 3 rooms of cleaning and the two owners arrived promptly at the agreed upon time. One went upstairs to do the master bedroom, which he proceeded to do a great job dusting and running the vacuum cleaner on the carpet. I do not think he dusted the fan, but I could be wrong. There were items that were on the floor or on an extra table (not dresser) that needed to be dusted, but he seemed to only stick to the "traditional furniture" to dust. The other guy remained on the main floor and cleaned my kitchen. He did an ok job, I don't think he ran a sponge on the cabinets, but he cleaned the top of my oven and mopped the kitchen floor to some degree. Then the upstairs guy came down to work on the family room. He did alot of dusting of the knick knacks and he did dust the fan in this room. He also did a nice job of sweeping the floor and behind the couches, and of washing the hard wood floors. The three rooms that were cleaned were better than they had been, but the job felt very rushed and the opposite of thorough. I paid $39 for the Groupon and I got approximately one hour of cleaning from two guys for the $39. If I could offer constructive criticism to this company it would be to take more time when you are cleaning as it is the prized possessions of people and if you took more time then you would not miss things in the room that were screaming out for cleaning. Maybe it would add 15 minutes to each job, but I think you'd acquire more customers if they didn't feel like you were rushing though the cleaning. read more

And instead of apologizing and suggesting returning to make it right, they got defensive and derogatory and told me our house was filthy, which it wasn't, and besides, they are cleaning service and that is what they were hired to do - to clean! read more

I purchased a Living Social deal from Sweep Away Cleaning of Raleigh. When I noticed the cleaning lady (Vanessa) had not shown up for my appt. an hour after the scheduled time, I called the service only to be told that the cleaning lady had came and had been "afraid to get out of her car because she said she felt unsafe". I suppose because I live in an apartment complex instead of some big fancy house. There was not a single person outside, or barely even any other vehicles in the parking lot besides mine and one neighbor b/c everyone is at work during the day, so I don't know how exactly she felt unsafe. I've lived here for five years, no one has ever bothered me or anyone else for that matter. It was the most insulting experience I've ever had, I didn't even know how to respond. The manager (Steven) was not even going to call me to let me know that Vanessa wasn't keeping my appt. Very unprofessional. And to think, I had planned to give her $100 under the table to do a full cleaning and extra stuff like wash dishes and clean the oven, instead of just the three rooms that came with the voucher. After reading the previous reviews however, I'm glad I didn't b/c it looks like it would have been a waste of my money anyway. Oh well.Be careful about using this service- apparently they stereotype to get out of servicing homes that don't appear rich and fancy. read more

I pay $75 to have my apartment cleaned every other week. They do a good job! I wouldn't let these other reviews scare you away. They seem to be expecting a deep clean without paying for a deep clean, which just isn't reasonable. No they don't spit shine every corner of your house to complete, hospital-like perfection, but they do a great job helping me keep up with the dog hair and smell (I have 3 dogs) and making sure my place is fresh and clean with minimal effort on my part. They are also great communicators, really awesome about working around my dogs, flexible, willing to "customize," and take many forms of payment to make it as easy as possible. I have been using this company for approx a year. In the beginning it was pretty good. They sent several different cleaners. One was particularly great and I requested to have her do all of the cleanings at my place because she was so good. The guy I text with said he would. I also asked to always have early morning appts because I work night shift and need to sleep. He again agreed with no problem. Since then he sends the wrong cleaner, cleaners show up at different hours than agreed upon, different days than agreed upon and sometimes not at all. Almost every scheduled day I have to text and find out why the cleaner is late. (And no not just a couple minutes late, at least 30-45 minutes) Most recently he tried to tell me my cleaner was out of the country to help her sick mother. One day she was in Peru, one day Morocco. I don't think he can keep up with his lies. I am sorry to lose the great lady that did such a great job, but this guy is a jerk and never does what he says. Then when I told him his offer of 10 dollars off was hardly enough to cover all the problems I've had with him, he told me I was rude and should find another service. Just wow. There was nothing special about the services rendered, at all. They didnt even move anything on the counters to clean under them. I started using this service about a year ago, when we first started a different cleaner would come to our house every time and inconsistently clean my house, after about 5 cleanings we had our first successful clean and requested this specific cleaner to come to our house for every clean and we would make our cleanings more frequent. About only 50% of the time did this specific person ever come out to our house, and there were three separate instances where we confirmed a cleaning and no one came to clean or we asked for the cleaner to not come on a specific week due to us being out of the country. We recently had our cleaner not show up and then was confronted via text for money for the cleaning that was not done. After airing our grievances multiple times (which we never received an apology for) we received no feedback, and decided to state that we were looking into other services. The ONLY response we received was a very childish response of "" and that was it. This company is very poorly run, very inconsistent, and communication via text is unprofessional with broken sentences and poor use of emojis. There is no loyalty for consistent long term customers. I was not happy with the work they did at all. Used Living Social to get more business, but I don't think they could handle the business they got. My house was rushed through, they missed cleaning several things...i.e chandlier above kitchen table and also counter tops in kitchen. Under the appliances were not clean at all. Very disappointed!! Bought a Living Social coupon from this company and after scheduling the day and time for them to come was informed I was to far out of their area. Mind you I had already given the address more then 2 conversations previous and was given an earlier day to come and clean because they were going to be up in my neighborhood. In the fine print on the coupon you had to be within a 20 mile radius of downtown Raleigh which depending on where in downtown you map from I was well within the limits. When I called back to question again, being they were supposed to be at my house a half hour earlier to clean, I was told they were 12 miles away. OK then what is the problem be on your way !! To say the least they never came and I was told they would not come to my neighborhood. Very bad business practice since they had my address days before , sopke to them to comfirm the day before and they even called me the day of the cleaning in the morning to make sure I would be home and when they are supposed to be here a half hour later call me to say they are not coming.
