a cake with a bottle of beer on it

I had heard wonderful things about Sweet Confections Cakes so decided to order a cake from here for a very special birthday party. I send an order via email and got a call back pretty quickly to ensure the order was what I wanted. I had wanted a guinness shaped glass for the cake but was told that their "shaped cakes" do not have fillings so I instead opted for a traditional cake with filling (almond cake, raspberry filling) and just decorated with the Guinness logo/glass, ect. I told the bakery the slogan I wanted and let them take it from there to see what they could do for a creation. I picked up the cake and it was more than I could have ever imagined. The attention to detail was great and the birthday boy was beyond thrilled with the cake. Everyone raved about it, not only did it look good but it tasted great. I will say that I wish the filling had a bit more "flavor" but overall it was still delicious. Sweet Confections also provided a board for the cake to rest on. I was a bit worried about this detail prior to picking up the cake but my anxiety was at ease. The cakes are heavy and flimsy cardboard just isn't going to cut it. Also the cake "board" was covered in a foil material so it looked nice too. Be prepared that the prices are not like you will find at Giant or Costco, they are a bit pricey but well worth it. The cakes are huge!! We actually had a good bit left over so we froze it and are still eating it now and then (and its still delicious)! Everyone raved about it! I would recommend Sweet Confections to anyone!

The cake, cupcakes, and cookies created for my dad and step mom's wedding were delicious! The team was a pleasure to work with, and made my step mom's vision come to life, from the cake tasting and initial meeting to the reception where we saw all that hard work on display. Everyone at the reception was amazed by the creativity and they loved the flavors! Even my sister, who isn't a dessert person, loved them!

Personalized Pop-It cake with signature cupcakes!

Sweet Confections has been my go to bakery for the past 10 years for my daughters birthdays. My baby shower cake was also done by Sweet Confections. I can always count on a good tasting and eye catching cake/cupcakes! The service is always top notch!!!

Purchased my first cake from Sweet Confections for my future daughter in law's bridal shower. The cake was stunning and the hit party! The staff was amazing as well. Thorough in questions to ensure the cake would be created to meet my needs. Communicated clearly through email. The cake was absolutely delicious! One layer was strawberry/vanilla swirl, the other a white chocolate. Yummy! Everyone wanted to take cake home. Although the cost was higher than I wanted to pay, it was worth every penny. I will definitely use Sweet Confections again!

    Beer Mug Birthday Cake

Sweet Confections is unbelievable and completely exceeded our expectations. We reached out and requested a last minute specialty cake and not only did they deliver the coolest looking "beer mug" I have ever seen, but the cake was one of the tastiest we've had too! I would highly, highly recommend Sweet Confections and can't sing their praises enough.

This was my 3rd time ordering a birthday cake for my daughter from Sweet Confections Cakes, and I continue to be in awe-- the cake they created for me was a work of art. It was one of those cakes so beautiful and detailed that it was almost painful to cut into it, but I'm glad we did, because the cake was also delicious! My daughter will never forget this very special birthday cake, and all the guests were blown away by it. Thank you Sweet Confections for your great customer service and beautiful cakes -- you never disappoint!

Baby Shower Cake with fondant.... amazingly good!

Words cannot express how happy we were with our cake. I was traveling to Hershey for my sister's baby shower, and after my bakery dropped the ball with the cake, Sweet Confections was able to save me with a last minute cake and it was PERFECT! It looked awesome and tasted great. Thanks everyone at Sweet Confections Cakes for being so wonderful and helping to make my sister's baby shower so special!

    Cake!!!!

Can I tell you how much I enjoyed our wedding cake!!! We just had our wedding this past weekend and it was delicious! Our cake was white chocolate with strawberry moose, and one tier was strawberry cheesecake. Yes cheesecake!!!!!!! It was so good!!! Darmayne definitely took care of us. We live in California and she made the process easy for us to get in to taste and then she called and confirmed a month before the wedding. So glad that she called us because we thought our bottom layer was a different size and had a cake stand made. So she worked with use to make sure our cake would work with the stand. The delivery was so smooth I didn't even know they came in! Darmayne and sweet Confections Cakes is definitely the best and I recommend them 100%!!!!

I have tried several other bakeries in my area since moving from Maryland, and I must admit this bakery is as close as it it gets to one of my long time favorites in Baltimore. The customer service and the reasonable prices are a plus which pushes this business as my new #1 spot for cakes.

The oatmeal creme pie was decent, however the filling was extremely sweet and generally unbalanced. The texture of the cookie was impressive though, and it was good size. The brownie was just okay. The texture was okay, but the flavor was really lacking. The texture of the crème on top was nice but tasted of soap in a weird way. It's you and you in this world, not you versus you. The fat signal lights up the ambrosia sky and I jiggle my rolls into my fat mobile. Trusting my instinct, I drive. My pet mule Pacho's friend chimpanzee was right, sometimes you just gotta throw that brown stuff at the wall and see if it sticks. Before I tangent, let me compliment the staff. A very friendly woman asked me my favorite shape. I was flustered and confused. What does that mean and why. What is my favorite shape? Turns out I don't have one. "Triangle" slips out from between my unconvincing and partially shamed moist and ever succulent lips. She had hoped for a more complex shape. I failed her. But she didn't fail me. Tangent time. The rubber on my near rubber-less tires squeal as I continue my marathon thru PA. For what have I done to deserve such wear and tear? Yells my poorly crafted American vehicle. You guess the brand. You're probably thinking something exquisite and luxurious but think again. Linguini is a working man - like YOU - but not like you at the same time. As so, I've traveled near, far and between PA. I have hit it all. How? I'm not sure. But that's how life goes. One day you're staring at your reflection in the mirror - pondering - and the next day the mirror shatters at the sight of you as you spend not a second in thought. I navigated this downtown in Simpsons Road Rage style. Rippin thru walkways and going oppo on one way streets. No cops. The citizens trolly around in their hipster gear without a worry. This town is like if Albany had an ugly baby. Took no genes from the father. Some question who the father really is. Not me I can promise you that... this time. The scents from the homeless soaking in the Susquehanna River detracts from the chocolate wind breezing over from nearby Hershey. And now I've got the squirts. Some innocent porta-potty is gonna pay for this. (Confirming, one did. An elementary aged girl was the next one into that potty. I'm sorry. You didn't need that trauma.) Anyways. My cinnamon bun was frosted right in front of me and my cookie was slipped into a paper bag for me to enjoy on the run. I'm an important person, I don't have time for leisurely walks. My days of pondering are over, thank goodness I used them, wisely? I leisurely walk out of this bakery in thought and immediately forget where I parked. Trouble? No. I'm surrounded by me, a cookie and a cinnamon bun. What could go wrong? Well, I take one bite of my delicious cookie and lose my sense. I immediately get accosted by a street preacher. She squares me up, disrespects me and the cross around my neck. "Anyone can wear one of those" she proudly attempts in a mogging fashion, with a mug face. Straight from the playbook, but I'm eating a cookie and I can't remember where my car is. So I entertain her. Fool? Maybe. Her heart is in the right place, but her approach and sense of superiority diminish her message. I decided to humble myself, for the Lord, as she couldn't... and I shared in prayer. I told her "hey I'm walking to my car and I'm gonna be eating this cookie but please help yourself." Help yourself she did. Educated me, LB, the dimwit. And as I used her as decoy to find my car, out of thin air, apparently, I was reborn. I now, out of the blue of the tantalizing and persuasive moon, turned born again Christian in the midst of Harrisburg. Or so I was told. I munched down the last bits of my fantastic cookie as I looked this woman dead in the eyes and prophecized "Have a great rest of your day." If not me, then who? Not YOU. The cookie was really scrumptious though... every once in a while I looked over at her as she pestered me down the street and I mumbled "man this is a good cookie" as if she cared any bit about me, my life and my experiences. Self-righteous joke deeep out the pocket, good one LB. And yet, after all of that, i still haven't got to the best part. With the truth of god leading me, flowing through my body, I physically cannot lead you astray. One of the best buns I've ever had - and it's crafted to my very liking. As if manifested just for LB. The icing was sufficient and very frosty. And oh... AMAZING BUN. If this thing was cooked for 1 less second it would be raw. Moist. I could've polished back a few but I couldn't go back for 99 reasons. And, unfortunately, I likely will never be back. But we'll always have this moment. And I hope that YOU, the reader, has this same moment one day. An amazing bakery in the heart of the heart of freedom. A country built on the word of God. 250 years in, with no semblance of the true meaning of Freedom and Pursuit of happiness we trek on. Proud, superior and hosting the World Cup. Cheers to us, Cheers to cinnamon buns!

When I saw PA Bakery advertising mini King Cakes for Mardi Gras, I was genuinely thrilled. A…read morereasonably sized King Cake felt like a dream come true -- all the fun of the tradition without committing to feeding an entire village. I immediately pre-ordered two mini King Cakes at $5.50 each (total $11), already imagining the moment I'd get to gloat when I found the hidden baby! The mini King Cakes were actually quite generous in size. Easily enough for 3-4 people...although I personally demolished mine in one sitting and have zero regrets. Now for the part that caught me off guard. The plastic baby -- arguably the entire point of a traditional King Cake -- was perched on top instead of hidden inside. I was fully anticipating that moment of excitement that comes from discovering the baby mid-bite, because that's kind of the magic of a King Cake tradition. Without that element, what I ended up with felt more like a very festive brioche-style cinnamon roll wearing Mardi Gras colors than a King Cake. To be clear, it tasted good. The cake itself was soft without being dry, had plenty of cinnamon-esque filling without tipping into overly gooey territory, and was generously finished with frosting and sugary crystals. Flavor-wise, no complaints. But if you're marketing something specifically as a King Cake, the expectation is that the baby is hidden within. Otherwise, it changes the experience entirely. For food safety purposes, there are plenty of creative alternatives -- an edible marzipan baby, a clearly oversized non-choking-hazard version, sticker on the box, etc. -- but the surprise element is part of what makes a King Cake a King Cake. Overall, not a bad experience -- just not quite the Mardi Gras moment I was hoping for. Next year, I'll probably seek out a bakery that leans into the full King Cake tradition...because if I'm chasing the thrill of finding a tiny plastic baby in my dessert, I want to earn that victory properly. If the baby isn't going in the cake, just let me know up front so I can manage my expectations (and my Mardi Gras excitement) accordingly.
