The lead teacher, Ms. Karla, is incredibly warm and caring, and has been meeting the unique needs of each of my children. This is a true Montessori school: the environment is carefully prepared and when you observe the children in class, they attend to their own work happily and independently to the sounds of instrumental music. BUT, YMCA is the gym facing to family, almost EVERY TIME you can meet HORRIBLE NOISE persons, they come for talking, not for exercise, they are keeping talking mixing with horrible laughing all the time, they are doing just like at their own house, is not in public place, without any care about any others. You still can hear their horrible noise even you are using headphone. What a wonderful home education they got, as noise as 500 sparrows around you.

The Southington branch of the YMCA violated their very own oath from a trainer (NR) to the Health and Wellness Director (JM) and up to the Branch Executive Director (JJ). As a longtime member of the Southington branch of the YMCA I am both saddened and disgusted. I had participated in their Strength Training class for several years but have been increasingly disappointed with NR mostly because she treats this class as HER time to engage in personal conversation with her friends in the class. Also, I noticed that she would often ignore me and send me clear across the weight room away from her group of friends. Then, a new member (EB) joined this class and eventually EB succeeded in not only ostracizing me even further from the group but began to bully me. The bullying included yelling at me, becoming argumentative and confrontational, treating the weight room as if it belonged to her and not me but most of all she succeeded in turning the other class members against me. I took my concerns to NR on three separate occasions to no avail. So, I then went to the Health and Wellness Director (JM). Previously, I had several positive encounters with JM (she always had a sympathetic ear) as I've been navigating a broken back due to cancer as well as dealing with my daughter's cancer diagnosis. Then... NOTHING. I firmly believe that NR gave her a pack of lies. So, I took my concerns to the Branch Executive Directo (JJ). Then... NOTHING. Again, I believe there were more lies from NR. I now belong to Big Sky and can't believe I didn't move sooner! Big Sky is everything the YMCA Southing branch is NOT! The facility is clean and pristine with a massive amount of equipment and staffed with amazing and professional people. The members are courteous, respectful, helpful and quietly go about exercising. The trainers never talk about their kids, vacations etc. like NR did in every single class. I spoke to the trainers about my horrifying experience with NR and the trainers all said the same thing - that NR acted extremely unprofessional and likely felt intimidated and threatened by me because I'm a serious weight lifter. My second child is attending now and will "graduate" this summer. The teachers are kind and engaged. The director has been extremely personable and supportive of my kids' various needs - medical and otherwise. Both of my kids have learned a lot of skills they can carry into grade school, including becoming very social kids who play well with others, through being able to write their own names. I recommend this business!

Both enjoy going each day and have had wonderful teachers that are also super educational. They both have learned so much as far as talking and also great manners. I have had a bad experience prior, and I had another today. They did mention this may take a month and a half or so, as they had to wait for Care 4 Kids to send their August payment. I was fine with this. Fast forward to November, I haven't heard from them or received any mailings. I called the Cheshire Stork Club on 11/23. The lady (Jen) was pleasant and referred me to the corporate office in Meriden. I'm not sure of his name ( possibly Merle Gandolfo), but he was rude. He stated he would check with the Cheshire office and call me back. I did receive a timely voicemail the next day, but it stated I owed a balance of just over $62! Again, I was never notified or informed of this in any way. I left a voicemail and a message with the answering service on Sunday 11/29, stating the issue and explaining what I thought the cause was. I never got a returned call. I called back Monday morning (11/30). The man said he was on the other line, took down my number, and promised to call back. He didn't. I called back again, and he refused to speak to me or even answer my question. He was told he can no longer speak with me verbally and if I called him any more I would be reported to the police for harassment! Funny thing is, what I believe to be the issue is simple. My daughter was charged for a week she did not attend (it listed the charge for the week on her statement and two lines under it listed her last day being the prior week). This is an easy fix and I am dumbfounded that it is turning into this haven huge thing. Parents, it's not worth the hassle and disrespect I endured. Also, I still haven't received my money back. I would not recommend this place to anyone

From the first day I went in for a trial Sally Darrow went above and beyond to answer any questions and make sure I was being served at the best capabilities. Before the Y I would make up so many excuses why I didn't have to go to the gym. The Y has such a great environment and so many things that contribute to making it a great gym of choice. I am so thankful a friend recommended this gym to me and so thankful Sally was very generous with assisting me. I am happy I fell back in love with fitness again and I owe it all to the Y.
