My breakfast sandwich was good. His breakfast eggs were over done. His toast was barely toast and no butter on it. Our waitress Krystal was awesome!! Then the bill comes. Over charged us and everything is an up charge! Check your BILL!! Plus they charge you.35 cents for water cup. They choose all plastic throw away cups, cheep foam plates & plastic silverware then charge you for it extra!!!! Toast is an up charge even though it comes with your breakfast. So are sausage link. $2.50 more but at least the menu told you about the charge. But everything else is an up charge and it says nothing. Sourdough toast doesn't say it's an up charge. Only if you get rye bread or croissant was a dollar more. Then charged us $1 for up charge of sourdough. I should not have said I'm new to the area. The waitress Krystal is a gem! Great waitress! I was not that impressed by this restaurant and have never been back but I will give it another shot. Went here for lunch one day. Service was okay. Food wasn't really anything to write home about. We got the BLT and the Chicken Salad on croissants as the waitress recommended. There was a lot of hype around the chicken salad and it was definitely good and worth trying. The BLT on the other hand was not the greatest BLT, it was kind of weak to be honest and I didn't like it on the croissant. The fries were plain crinkle cut, definitely nothing made in house. The broccoli salad was good and I would say is better than the fries. Its vibe is small town diner in an old building. Parking is only on the street. What an AWESOME find on a drive out and about as we went through Lillington. Pay attention to their hours and make sure you come there during business hours as it will be worth your attention. Amara (I pray I've spelled that properly) was an absolute ROCKSTAR on menu recommendations. You could just tell that she cared that you got exactly what you wanted. In the past I've had less than desirable with results on grits, but she recommended theirs HIGHLY. She was totally SPOT ON!!!! The Western Omelet I had was the MOISTEST omelet I've ever eaten in my 72 years on this planet! All of our roads to Raleigh will definitely lead through this fine establishment. A friend surprised me this week by bringing me lunch to work. She is all about supporting local business during this time, so she decided on Sweet Magnolia's which neither of us had ever had. We both tried the chicken salad on croissant with sweet fries. The chicken salad had a significant amount of mayonnaise with mayo also lathered on the croissant and it was supposed to have pecans and grapes but there were none. The sweet fries were soggy and some were burnt. After reading the other reviews, I'd love to try a burger once things open back up but otherwise the food left much to be desired. read more

What a terrible experience! My family decided to give this a try today and were disappointed. From the time we walked in, our waitress seemed annoyed. Once we tried to place an order, she wouldn't listen from trying to talk over us and ended up getting the order wrong. Also two of the staff seemed to be having some type of argument at the time and did not attempt to hide it from the customers. Add that to the fact we did not get checked on our entire meal by our waitress and it just created a terrible experience. So confusing! When you walk in the place is charming and clean. The staff is friendly. We went for breakfast and ordered water to drink. It arrived in a Styrofoam cup. Ok, it's water. Moving on. We both ordered the Old Fashioned Breakfast. Mine with home fries and a croissant. His with grits and a biscuit. We both had bacon. This meal costs around $7 each. We waited about15 minutes to get our food. According to the decor im looking forward to it. The meals arrived on Styrofoam plate as with plastic silverware. What?!?! The only compliment that I can give in regards to the food is that the eggs and bacon were good. The biscuit was flat. We're in the south for heaven's sake. Biscuits are not flat. The croissant seemed to have been served fresh from the fridge still cold. I'm almost certain the potatoes were frozen and had no real flavor. So what was taking so long to cook our meal? It is sad really. A few minor tweaks and this place could be really good. We don't have that many restaurants in Lillington. We need a good breakfast place. read more

Yeah, switching to real service ware would add a little class, but we came here to eat and the food was great! Sandwiches on croissants, bread, grilled or panini style. All were creative and very good. Homemade potato soup with cheese and bacon. Great. Homemade chips. Great. Homemade desserts. Great. Old building nicely remodeled with an artist's eye. Clean. Polite attentive service. After less than stellar service at the County Seat the last couple of visits, we gave this place a try and are glad we did. We wish them the best of luck! read more

Just getting ready to leave after having lunch and had to make sure to write a review. The only reason I gave it two stars was because the rueben sandwich was wonderful. The service was a whole other story. First, they nickle and dime you (that's management). You want to split a sandwich? It's a $1 for the extra plate. You want it grilled, add .50 cents You didn't get enough thousand island dressing on your sandwich? That will be .50 cents. And you then you get the person who cooked said sandwich to come to the table and confrontationally say, "I heard something was wrong with the sandwich. I made that sandwich. What's wrong with it?". Umm, it was great, just didn't see or taste any dressing. We were abruptly told that dressing had definitely been put on the sandwich. This is how you treat customers??? On top of that, chips that were supposed to come with the meal were never brought even after asked for twice. Napkins had to be asked for and still not enough were brought. I was really hoping that this would be a great place to stop in and grab lunch, but I don't care how good the food is, I'm not paying someone to treat me like I am a serious inconvenience. The staff at Sweet Magnolias are indeed very sweet :) Our waitress gave great suggestions and was a pleasure to have at the table. The interior of the restaurant is homey and has alot of unique wall pieces. There's various kinds of seating as well, including a few one-seater couches and some high chairs by the store front windows. The menu prices are very reasonable. I ordered the half soup/half sandwich combo for $7 with the chicken salad sandwich and tomato-basil tortellini soup. The chicken salad sandwich did not have as much chicken salad on it as I had hoped, but was still tasty. I loved the tomato-basil tortellini soup and definitely recommend! The rest of my group ordered the burgers which start at $3.50 for a single patty. At a price like that, the burgers here are incredible and delicious! You can also add condiments to them, some for free and others for $0.50. For sides we tried the Mag chips and Strawberry Pretzel Salad. The Mag chips are great and are served with ranch. This was my first time trying a strawberry pretzel salad and I really liked the pretzel crust. Unfortunately, the strawberry jello(?) on top was a miss for me. Finally, we also got dessert! Sadly, many of their desserts were sold out by the time we arrived, but I did get to try the No-Bake Chocolate Peanut-Butter cookies and Glazed Cinnamon Chip cookie slice. Food: This is hands down the best cheeseburger in a 30 mile radius. So crispy and juicy and all the things I want in a quick burger especially considering that it's only $4.50 for a cheeseburger, it exceeds all of my expectations. For sides, I usually get the mag chips or the strawberry pretzel salad, both of which are delicious. I have tried their cookie slices before and thoroughly enjoyed them, but be warned that they sell out of dessert on busy days so if you go for dinner there may be a limited selection. Service: I have been here about 4-5 times and have never had anything short of friendly, attentive service. Atmosphere: Cute, tables but a little small however; I've never been there when the place is packed so it's never been an issue. Overall: if there were more places like Sweet Magnolia's in Lillington, it would be a better place. read more

Small little restaurant with big flavor. Traveling as I usually do and wanted to try this out. Not a lot of people for a Thursday night at 5:30 so I was happy. The waitress was very nice and made sure the food was good. I did a custom burger which is always a favorite of mine. Should have ordered a double but glad I didn't (we'll come back to that). Fresh off the grill and the crinkle fries were PERFECT! Really crispy and the waitress asked if I wanted ranch instead of ketchup. Who does that? This place and that's why they got 4 of these stars. The 5th star is because of the dessert. I had the chocolate eclair. Bless the person who makes this! (Robin much love!!) The eclair is NOT a pastry. It's more like a pudding and hot damn it's amazing. I didn't mind the styrofoam cups or bowls because it gives this place character. Complaining about the flatware food is served on is like complaining ice isn't cold enough. Can't wait to return here again and try something new! read more
