I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE‼‼…read more It was my first time in Steamboat to celebrate my friend's birthday over the weekend. This shop was our last stop before heading back to Denver. The place was clean, and at first, the owner and wife were amiable and professional, and the service was good. Then, while there, I checked in on Yelp, and another of my friends, and both got a deal (picture posted) that said 50% off of a plain caramel apple. To our surprise, our 50% coupon was not honored because they had never seen anything like that before, and they don't use Yelp to promote their business to provide customer coupons. He seemed unhappy and even asked his wife to take a picture of my coupon. I explained to the owner that sometimes, when I check in to restaurants or other businesses, I get a coupon. Still, he kept repeating that he had never seen it before and added, "Why would he do something of such since he is the one losing money?" and said it more than twice. I replied that it was the first time a business did not honor a coupon from Yelp. Once again, I explained that I always go to Yelp to check in and do reviews about the shop, food, and service. He then changed his attitude and offered to honor it. I said no thank you. I didn't want the poor man to lose four bucks from a caramel apple. The coupon now posted in my photos is showing 25%, but at the time, it was for 50%; it seems it was updated. Never again will I step foot in Rocky Mountain Chocolate, nor will my friends, extended family, and others. I don't recommend this shop! Find a different one. Update! It seems like the owner has been responding to other reviews. Interestingly, they claimed they didn't use Yelp for anything. I see other poor reviews, no wonder why.

My husband and son were skiing for the week to celebrate my husband's birthday. I ordered the basket by phone, and Barbara stayed in touch with me throughout the process until delivery. She even changed the delivery date when my family was not able to get to Vail because of a major storm. They were so surprised and thankful for the snacks when they finally in the Valley tired and hungry. Also, since the snacks were in individual bags, they were able to stuff them in their pockets for a quick pick-me-up while skiing. I recommend that you call Barbara, and she is guaranteed to make your gift-giving so easy!

We ended up splitting some soups (get the tomato crab), the beet salad, and the Market Fish (salmon) on a bed of cous cous and red cabbage. It was very nice that they split all the dishes for us. My partner enjoyed his sommeliers choice wine Complementary bread (2 small pieces) with olive oil and olives. Pretty good Tomato and crab bisque (shared) was super rich creamy and delicious The duck breast was meh for me. Meat was fine but the rest of it all together was off The venison short loin (red elk) was amazing. It was cooked perfectly- rare to medium rare. Mashed potatoes were good. Asparagus was just ok Crème brûlée was also super delicious. The vanilla bean inside was great We were ready to come back on our last night to order the venison again before we drove back home 3 hours bc the food was so good My biggest complaint and why I dropped two stars were the services. the server was super nice and attentive at the start. But once we finished the entree, he spent most of the time chatting with the table across from us. We heard the whole convo as we were waiting for him to remove our plates and bring us the dessert menu. It was 8pm and he only had two tables left: Our table and the other table. He chatted with the other table about furbo and ring cameras for their pets for a very long time. Maybe ten minutes later he took our plate and said he'd bring the dessert menu. Then he brought them wine , chatted with them for a bit about growing up in steamboat and the neighbors and then he eventually brought our dessert menu. Then while we were eating dessert, chatted with them for another good 20 minutes without even looking at us. We just wanted the check but my partner didn't want to be rude and interrupt him. By 9pm we got tired of waiting and we got up, put our coats on and walked to the front to try to pay at the front. That's when he came over. No apology, just said oh you want to pay? Charged our card and gave us the receipt to sign. We noticed he over charged us. He was already back chatting with the other couple and my partner didn't want to interrupt him so then I went to go ask another employee for help which then got the servers attention and he came over. Then we waited like 10 minutes until he was able to refund and recharge the correct amount. We had just driven 3 hours after having a medical emergency all morning and almost cancelled our trip. We had an absolutely heart wrenching day with the news we received from the doctor. But we decided to move forward with the trip and just have a nice dinner as we recovered for our first night. So while the food was good, this was not a pleasant ending to our already terrifying day. Pay attention to ALL of your customers! Not just the ones who are clearly wealthy and keep ordering more glasses of wine.

A steamboat treasure! Their cinnamon roll was heavily recommended to me, so, knowing me, I gotta try it! We popped in before hitting the road and ordered a cinnamon roll (surprise!), a peach scone, and green chili grits. Cinnamon Roll: you gotta try this bad boy. It's huuuuuuggeeee! The frosting, melting in front of my eyes, coating the entire roll made my mouth start to water. Once it finally hit my lips... oooooooooowwwweeeeeeee! Skip skiing if you have to, but don't miss this cinnamon roll. Now let's talk about the things you can skip. The peach scone was a little hard and wasn't very peachy to me. Maybe it's because we ate it on the road. Or maybe it is because I'm not a big scone guy. The green chili grits were also mid. I love a good green chili and don't like grits, hence why it was mid. I wouldn't order either of those again, but that's more personal preference on me not liking scones and grits. Anyways get the cinnamon roll, you square!
