We have been so blessed by this swim school. We've taken all three of our kiddos and they are learning! Coach Gareth cares so much about these kiddos! His whole purpose is to make sure the children who come to him for lessons, know how to survive first, if they ever find themselves in the water alone Then become efficient in their swim skills. It's a tough love kind of lesson, but it's so necessary and we're so thankful for it every year we've taken our babies. They are becoming such strong swimmers and know without a thought if they get tired, roll and float. Something I honestly would have never even thought to teach them had I taught them swim. This place has a great reputation because of the previous operator (Sue). We wasted two summers here in group lessons. If you enjoy hearing screaming babies and an arrogant loudmouth (Gareth), while teenagers push the kids around in a circle, you'll love it here. If you'd just like to have your child quickly learn to swim, take them to Worden Aquatics for one on one lessons instead. One week of lessons and we were done. Wasted $1,000 on group lessons at The Sweetman's and endured abusive speech and behavior. You'll see on the first day of you decide to go there. *****BEWARE OF THIS PLACE**** My almost 2 year old contracted aspiration pneumonia from their methods. They are dangerous and reckless. They have no business teaching any child under the age of 3. *Firstly, we were told on the first day to hide so the kids can't see the parents. We were told we would be kicked out if we didn't abide. All of the littles screamed the entire time. *The second day, I got my 2 year old from the pool and he was in full blown respiratory distress. I'm a critical care nurse- I am not saying that lightly. He was short of breath, having retractions, was having stridor/wheezing and immediately developed a wet sounding cough that he didn't even have a hint of before lessons. He obviously did not go back to the pool the rest of the week. *Day 3, I observed poolside with my 5 year old. That's the ONLY reason I'm giving this place more than 1 star. My 5 year old had a much better swim experience. However, Gareth Sweetman made the comment to my 5 year old that he "doesn't allow kids to quit and he won't be allowed back at this pool" when asking where his brother was. I obviously addressed this in an email, and Terri (Gareth's wife) was very apologetic and said he would be put on a make up lesson list. I watched them dunk the littles over and over again while they were full blown hysterical. The kids that cried more got dunked more. I heard them tell a toddler that if he wanted to sit down (and stop getting dunked) that he would have to stop crying. At the end of class that day, they were throwing the kids (littles included) off the diving board to see if they could flip over to float in their backs. They were leaving them to flounder underwater for entirely too long. We're talking a GOOD 7-10 seconds. It was uncomfortable and scary to watch. -I emailed Sweetman's again to make them aware of my son being diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. I was not aggressive or ugly. I never asked for a refund. I WOULD have been interested in a second week of lessons for my 5 year old. I received zero response. Absolutely unacceptable. We will never go back. After posting our experience on local mom groups to save others from experiencing this, I got quite a response. Over 50 experiences of people saying their children were traumatized by this place for years to come. read more

Maybe coach Gareth has a passion for swimming, or he is a sheep in wolves clothing. On the other hand, his wife Terri makes it known she does not like, blacks, which is fine. You all have a private pool so its ok to post NO BLACKS ALLOWED and post signs in your yard, post signs on your internet registration page. Instead, you waste black peoples time to have them register, plan and show up to make up excuses why they are not working out. It's a pool, people wear sunscreen, people pee in pools (adults and kids), people come with hair spray, gel or whatever, but Terri has nothing to do but send emails to blacks accusing them of having products in their hair, not asking or not sending emails to the groups, only BLACKS. I say you don't have the nerve to post NO BLACKS ALLOWED, but as I stated you have a private pool so its ok to post signage. Blacks, there are other talented and rewarding instructors that welcome you and your kids for swim lessons. read more

This place works miracles with kids who don't want to swim or get their face wet. My 3 year old went from a drowning risk to an absolute fish in 3 weeks! Totally worth it and I'd recommend it to anyone. Make sure the person who takes your child to these lessons can handle hearing their child cry. Because there will be tears. Lots of them. But the results are SO worth it. They teach a life saving skill! If you're on the fence, just do it. It's worth it. read more

Verbally abusive...it's taken me a lot of money to undo what Gareth put my son through. If your child has any type of sensory issues this will set you back. My son became scared of water after Gareth threw him in and he vomited water. read more

Great school! My kids have retained their lessons for barely any time being taught that's a great value!

So thankful for Sweetman swim. This is lifesaving skills for your kiddos not a play class at all. Started both kids at 3 years old. It is not the easiest the first three days while they are teaching the kids to roll over if they accidentally fall in the pool, which by the way is LIFESAVING, but after it clicks the kiddos enjoy the rest of the week and future weeks learning how to swim, blow bubbles, tread water along with different types of strokes. I have been thoroughly impressed with the transformation of my boys in Mr. Sweetman's class. In just three days they have learned how to survive if they fall into a pool or the lake. The instruction received is excellent. Their fear of the water is diminishing quickly. Their confidence to try new things has improved tremendously. They asked if we could go swimming together as a family last night after class. We did! They are so proud of themselves and their new accomplishments! I thank Mr. Sweetman and his staff. read more
