During my most recent visit, however, the new hygienist caused me so much pain that I would never consider returning or recommending the practice to others. I have never had a cavity but apparently had mild inflammation around a couple of teeth. This hygienist used a machine to scrape my teeth that was loud, repeatedly splashed water all over my face and caused my mouth to bleed so terribly it had to be packed with gauze. Some discomfort is one thing, but for someone with a generally healthy mouth to not be able to eat or drink for hours after a cleaning because of extreme pain is not normal. I genuinely felt like he was torturing me and was shaking after. I had never even had an uncomfortable cleaning before and after my absolutely horrible experience I am nervous to return to any dentist.

During the filling she checked in about my comfort a few times. Her assistant (zach?) was skilled and experienced. They worked together efficiently and I was done quickly. This dentistry office had trouble filling all their hygienist positions for a few years through covid, but they have been back to full staffing for about a year and once again seem to be able to schedule 6 month cleanings without a problem.

She sat on my lap the entire time during my cleaning and the hygienist was amazing with her. They've expanded into two offices in the same building and even have a relaxation room if you get there early which I did. Because I had been unable to get a cleaning for a little while, she was even thoughtful enough to split my cleaning into two different appointments with two separate codes for insurance so that my teeth and gums would not be unnecessarily aggravated. This dentist quoted me for 10 fillings which seemed high so I went and got a second opinion. Second opinion told me I only needed 3 fillings and to watch 3 other spots.
