Despite years of lessons, she still cannot swim independently. We later learned that other swim programs are able to teach independent swimming skills in a matter of weeks at a lower costs. Other programs come with a guarantee of independent swim once completing the program. waterworks feels like just an endless cycle of classes with no real accountability to ensure your child progresses. Lessons are 20-minute sessions that are scheduled back-to-back. This leads to transition time between students cutting into already short lessons. When paying a premium per minute, that lost instruction time adds up. We also experienced a high level of instructor turnover. It was difficult for our child to build comfort and consistency with a teacher before being reassigned. While the school indicates that progress notes are shared between instructors, in reality it often felt like the first 1-2 lessons with a new instructor were spent simply getting them up to speed with our child's abilities. Of course lessons that we have to pay for. Make-up lessons are also restrictive. Even when they cancel your lesson, which happens frequently they issue a makeup lesson instead of a paid lesson or refund. Make-up lessons must be used within the same week and are subject to limited availability, which made them difficult to actually schedule. They also expire quickly if you aren't paying for and scheduling new lessons. During summer months, the pool is extremely crowded and noisy, and the kids can't even hear the instructors. While the instructors were kind, the overall structure and lack of continuity is not conducive to any actual progress. Save your time and money and look elsewhere.

It's been truly remarkable to watch her progress, and her instructor, Miss Isabella, has made every lesson fun, encouraging, and safe from day one. The lessons are short, which seems typical for this age group, but if you stay consistent, the progress happens quickly. The staff is also very open to feedback and always responsive whenever we've had questions or concerns about a lesson. Going into this summer, I feel confident she'll be able to swim independently, and I'm so grateful she's developed a genuine love for the water.

Unfortunately, we have noticed that staff members, including one of our favorite instructors have left and are planning on leaving their employment at this location. I have learned that this is not because of the job itself, but because of the conduct and behavior of the owner whom I shall refer to as "B" "B" does not seem to value his staff in the way we, the customers, do. It is my understanding that he is often rude, dismissive, abrupt, and insensitive to staff. I have also learned that there is hardly a staff member at the school that has not been brought to tears by the words of 'B" I have personally observed some of his interactions with staff, and was horrified that they would be spoken to in the manner that he did. This type of business relies on their staff, specifically their teachers. Without them, there is no business. I am quite concerned that there will be a continued turnover, which will have a direct negative impact on the students at the school, including my son. I know that this is a family owned and operated business. I have great respect for the Callan family. Unfortunately "B" is risking their good reputation, and I truly hope someone in the family business can step in and change the course such that the staff be treated as they deserve. I know that many families, mine included, will follow our child's instructor if they should leave this location. This 5 star rating is only because of the employees.

I actually scheduled swim lessons for our daughter, Emmy, with Krista before we even moved here! Emmy started lessons when she was 2, continued again the next summer at 3, and this past summer our son Hayes joined in at just 1.5 years old. Krista has such a gift with young children -- she's patient (yet firm), calm, and knows exactly how to make them feel comfortable and confident in the water. We've seen incredible progress each summer. Both kids have not only learned essential water safety skills, but they also love being in the pool now. The peace of mind knowing my young children are safe around water is truly priceless, and it makes living in Southern California (and being around so much water) so much less stressful. These swim lessons are taught by ICAC's most seasoned competitive swimmers. Each session is 2 weeks long, Mon- Thurs for 30 minutes of private instructions. The cost was $140 per each 2-week long session. My son loved these lessons from the very first. He was always fearful of water. I tried having him take group lessons before but he did not care for those. I am so glad we switched to ICAC. From not being able to swim even for 5 secs to completely swimming the length of an Olympic size pool took 6 weeks. After the end of the summer, he tried out and even made the swim team! He has been on the teal swim team (beginners) for about 2 months now. He is able to swim multiple laps (200m). They do all kinds of fun swim related activities during practice such as practicing their dives from the diving board and from the side of the pool. They play swim games with toys and pretend they are sharks and minnows. What a fantastic opportunity to gain confidence in his ability to swim. He is quite fearless now about being in the water and we owe it all to ICAC! Plus head coach and ICAC founder, Scott, is so nice and very dedicated. I see him all the time at the pool. The other coaches are the same.

Las Posas pool is smaller than Woodland Park pool- there's no diving board but it's heated and there is a fun splash pad. The shaded area is smaller than woodland park pool...something to keep in mind. The lifeguards are friendly and enforce rules. I prefer Woodland Park pool simply because it's closer to my house and there's more shade, but Las Posas still earns 5 stars!

I assume they had to build a personal training area because the actual gym is over crowded and the available equipment is lacking. With the expansion of San Marcos and college area this gym is stuck trying to accommodate everyone and it's unable to keep up. If you plan to hit the gym after work and standing around waiting for random machines is your workout plan, this place is for you.

Just some background... our daughter has thrown herself at water from birth. She would crawl toward the ocean as a tiny baby, repeatedly trying to get into pools whenever near. It was terrifying. So we got her in swim lessons as early as 6 months old, first at Waterworks and later at Noonan. By three, she could hold her breath, push from the wall, glide and float assisted, but ZERO SKILLS TO ACTUALLY SWIM and keep her head above water. The final straw was the day we watched as our daughter's hands slipped off the wall and she went under the water- little fingers reaching for the surface, literally drowning DURING A LESSON. The instructor had taken her eyes off for one minute, turning toward another student. It is so loud in these overcrowded indoor pools that she couldn't hear me screaming from across the pool "SHE'S DROWNING!!!!!! HELP! OMG!!!" Thankfully, my daughter had at least learned to hold her breath, which she did long enough for my husband to sprint across the length of the pool and fish her out- the instructor's mouth in awe. Imagine if we had been staring at our phones instead of watching her lesson like every other parent. It still makes me nauseous. Needless to say my kid learned to fear the water. What had once given her nothing but pleasure now made her scared and anxious. This is how we found Krista. She is absolutely unparalleled. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, the lessons are only 15 minutes. Yes, it's a weekly commitment. And YES, it's 150% worth it. The skills and confidence my daughter learned in just 2 weeks with Krista completely outshined the crappy instruction, oodles of money and time I spent dragging my kid to those other swim schools- for YEARS!! We have Krista to thank for so much more than just swim lessons- our daughter's confidence and happiness was restored and we can finally relax knowing she is safe near water.
