They both helped him progress well in a short period of time. Our youngest is now with coach Josh who helped him transition from beginner to intermediate. Coach Josh is very patient. He understands the student's needs and tailors the lessons accordingly. Our youngest one also has private lessons with coach Kim for the past few months. She has been instrumental in getting him to relax and feel comfortable in the water. She makes the lessons fun and encourages him when he gets the strokes/kicks right. When We first stated with Elly, she committed to teaching private swimming lessons for $45/hour at our pool. She did this 4 times and then said she couldn't do it anymore and we would have to come to her pool. This was strange because she advertises herself as a mobile swim coach that will come to you. Since we started with her, we decided to just go to her pool. You would think that her pricing would change since she was no longer coming to our pool and we were driving to her, but it didn't. We noticed that she was NEVER on time for our set swimming lesson. She was always 5-10 minute late to start the lesson, which become very frustrating. Mostly because she wouldn't give you the full 30 minutes you paid for. She'd cut the lesson short 5-10 minutes early to start her next lesson! When I asked her about this she become confrontational and defensive, as opposed to apologetic. I noticed she would engage in long conversations with other parents during the time I was paying her to teach my daughter! I honestly couldn't believe this. When someone pays you for a private lesson, you focus your time and attention to what they're paying you to do. Every lesson I noticed she would be talking to other parents for 5 minutes minimum during our swim lesson. I kept giving her another chance and trying to let it go since my daughter liked her. But at the end of the day, it was so professional and just NOT worth it. There are so many other swim instructors in San Diego, don't waste your time or money with this scatter brain.

Prior to this class, my daughter would absolutely not put her head under water which made any swim lessons prior to this less than effective. I let Nicole about our struggle and she assured me that she would be fine within the first four days. I had my doubts, but her results blew me away. Her fear was gone by day three and, four weeks into the program, she can swim from one end the pool to the other using the swim-float-swim combo taught by Nicole. Probably the most telling about how great Nicole is has to do with my daughter's excitement to go every day. Even though she started with a huge fear of going under water, she was excited to see Nicole at day 2. Nicole has a gift of making children feel safe while still keeping them on track with the important lesson they are learning. I could not recommend her enough!!

It led to my daughter crying whenever I mentioned going to swim lessons and almost hyperventilating. We decided to cancel and switch to SwimSynergy. I really wanted to nip the fear asap so wanted to be seen the following week vs waiting until the next session. They were super accommodating and worked with our schedule to make it work for our daughter. My daughter absolutely fell in love with Krista in particular. She liked her sweet nature and went from finding swim terrifying to asking "is today a swim day?!" And being super excited when it was! After a few short weeks my daughter could actually swim. It was amazing how quick she learned after being stagnant with her previous instructor. We completed the 10 weeks and will be looking into maintenance lessons as well. After the positive and improved experience, I worried my 6 yo son may not have the same safety skills as my daughter so I had him take lessons for a few weeks and he enjoyed his experience as well. Both of my kids earned a swim medal which they were so excited about. The very first swim we did at our HOA pool after my son received his medal, both of my kids wore their medals to the pool haha. They were so proud of what they earned! We also had great experiences with the other instructors that would partner with Krista. We have friends at other pools with different Swim Synergy instructors who have also had great experiences. I enthusiastically recommend!! Only negative thing is that now when my daughter goes to a friend's pool she hasn't been to before, she asks "is this a saltwater pool?" Haha.. She is spoiled by this place in the best way. :)

If I could give this school a hundred stars, I would. I'm an adult in my 40's and I've off and on…read moretried regular swim classes and was never able to learn. I don't have a fear of water but something about how my brain was approaching learning to swim and body movements didn't click. Krista and her methods work! She approaches it logically, breaking lessons down to bite sized bits, and adjusting to how she sees you learning or not learning. I had a few months of classes, and I'm not saying I can swim across an Olympic sized pool (although I might!!) but I can tread, and make it across a normal lap pool, and I can do the backstroke and side stroke. It's been amazing! These lessons made my recent Caribbean vacation so much better and made my husband worry less with my swimming ability. I loved that the lessons are in heated pools (hardest part was getting out of the pool), and that they are located in different neighborhoods so that the one closest to me was less than a ten minute drive. This has been a fantastic experience and I intend to return for some follow up lessons to continue improving my swimming in the fall. Highly, highly recommend!

I agree with what everyone is saying, Francis is calm, patient and truly aims to get your kiddo confident with swimming while still having fun. Just some background... our daughter has thrown herself at water from birth. She would crawl toward the ocean as a tiny baby, repeatedly trying to get into pools whenever near. It was terrifying. So we got her in swim lessons as early as 6 months old, first at Waterworks and later at Noonan. By three, she could hold her breath, push from the wall, glide and float assisted, but ZERO SKILLS TO ACTUALLY SWIM and keep her head above water. The final straw was the day we watched as our daughter's hands slipped off the wall and she went under the water- little fingers reaching for the surface, literally drowning DURING A LESSON. The instructor had taken her eyes off for one minute, turning toward another student. It is so loud in these overcrowded indoor pools that she couldn't hear me screaming from across the pool "SHE'S DROWNING!!!!!! HELP! OMG!!!" Thankfully, my daughter had at least learned to hold her breath, which she did long enough for my husband to sprint across the length of the pool and fish her out- the instructor's mouth in awe. Imagine if we had been staring at our phones instead of watching her lesson like every other parent. It still makes me nauseous. Needless to say my kid learned to fear the water. What had once given her nothing but pleasure now made her scared and anxious. This is how we found Krista. She is absolutely unparalleled. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, the lessons are only 15 minutes. Yes, it's a weekly commitment. And YES, it's 150% worth it. The skills and confidence my daughter learned in just 2 weeks with Krista completely outshined the crappy instruction, oodles of money and time I spent dragging my kid to those other swim schools- for YEARS!! We have Krista to thank for so much more than just swim lessons- our daughter's confidence and happiness was restored and we can finally relax knowing she is safe near water.
