There is a reason Kent deleted their Fecbook page because this is not an isolated incident. Pathetic business and untrustworthy people.

It's a fairly small hardware store, so I shouldn't have been surprised to find they only had three compost bins in stock, but I was disappointed with the lack of range and also the lack of interest displayed by the salesperson. The compost bins didn't have prices on them and the salesperson could only give prices "off the top of his head", which didn't really make me want to buy from there. I also went to look at some small flowering plants inside, but didn't find anything of interest and found it a bit expensive. I went there just for the nursery side of things, so can't comment on the hardware section of the store, but would recommend going elsewhere for plants and gardening needs.

Once we decided, we booked in a time for delivery and the guys showed up on time - bonus! - however, there was a slight problem ...they delivered the wrong rocks!! We called them back once we realised and while they couldn't rectify it immediately as it was a busy Sunday (and their supplier was closed), it was pretty close! Craig (CJ) came back at the end of the day to have a chat, understand the issue and agree a way forward. He arrived bright and early Monday to remove the incorrect rocks (without us even hearing him!) and returned as agreed to re-lay the correct blue stone. He was extremely apologetic, did this all on his own time, and did it all with a smile on his face. Yes, it would have been terrific if this hadn't happened in the first place, however, we all know things can go wrong! The thing we liked the most was the great customer service we received from CJ as soon as he found out we hadn't received what we were supposed to! Right from that point he was only focused on rectifying the situation and ensuring we were satisfied customers. For that, we'd like to say Thank You!

So what a blessing it was when Bunnings decided on Keperra to open a new outlet, as we had previously been using the Stafford store. Bunnings, whether you love or loathe their variety of Chinese-made goods, is a God send when you need it. There's almost everything you need when emergencies arise, and a variety of items for just DIY scenarios around the house or in the garden. It's of little surprise when I meet my neighbours most days and ask they about their plans for it. Bunnings Keperra seems to be always on the agenda. Nice one!

Paths between merchandise veer off unexpectedly, making it a bit of a 'choose your own adventure' type experience. You never know what you'll find but if you go the wrong way you'll struggle to find your way back. When I entered the store I expected something like Bunnings (probably the only hardware store I've ever been to) with its lofty ceilings and manicured aisles. I was surprised at the low-ceilinged but deceptively large shop that greeted me. Apart from the ceiling height difference, this place sold everything any other hardware store does. Each section also had its own information desk, with a staff member waiting patiently for customers with queries. I kept arriving at 'clearings' to find an eager shop assistant gazing anxiously at me as I tried to back away while maintaining eye contact. The odd mix of charming, maze-like layout, head ducking and exceptional customer service combine to make this a place I would highly recommend.

After visiting Mitre 10 and its peers back in the day as a little girl with my father, this is a positive mansion of hardware needs. When I was little, Dad's workshop (attached to the house) was out-of-bounds for kids. Of course this meant I snuck in there as often as possible. I used to ooh and ahh over the smell of cut wood, the jars of different sized nails and screws, curly wood shavings on the floor. It felt like being in Santa's workshop. And it also felt like this here. Now, Paddington Hardware isn't Santa's workshop - that I'm aware of. For all I know he could be stuffed in the back, pumping out dinner tables amongst a group of singing elves. The store's that big. I'm somehow sounding sentimental about a hardware store. In spite of its size, though, the staff are so friendly that it contributes to the happy-wonder vibe of the place. From a stock perspective, the scope of hardware is so extensive that I think most handymen would find what they wanted here. As an aside, I came to Paddington Hardware to buy a shower curtain because I was moving out of my rental property and they wanted it replaced. Shower curtains are sneakily expensive. However, Paddington Hardware was the only place in Paddington I could find a shower curtain. It was a damn nice curtain, so I hope the new tenants enjoyed it. A word about parking here: there is on-site parking, but since Paddington Hardware is sandwiched between boutiques and restaurants, it was once packed with cars from non-patrons. However, there is a strict Hardware Parking Only sign on site, and increased security on this front means that legitimate Hardware store customers should be able to find a spot.

They never reply to your emails promptly, they ask for your money up front which means if you are dissatisfied you have nothing to bargain with. There seems to be three different staff you talk too with three different replies. Our cupboards cost us $4200 and we had issues with ordering handles, so just asked for our money back, but found out that it was an expensive experience where they will bill you for very expensive products but when you ask for the cost of the handles back believe it or not their handles are just $8 each. Cheaper then Bunning's.

That's right, nowhere. While you have a little coffee to de-insane your mind. My second favourite spot in this massive warehouse is the garden centre. They have cool terracotta pots and statues for your garden, they even have chicken coups and guinea pig cages. Pretty sure they have bird aviaries as well. They sell trees, flowers, plants, plastic plants, marbles, stones, aquarium rocks, moss... everything for your gardening needs. And the prices won't break your bank either. My third favourite section is the section right inside of the garden area, where they sell kids chairs and playhouses, and slides and swings and how cute is that kiddy lounge chair? They're pretty cheap too from $10. Not sure how long they'll last, but I bought some anyway. My fourth favourite section is the art supplies section. They sell little wooden bread boxes you can paint, they sell paint brushes and a really cool range of acryllic and oil based paints and they sell rollers as well for painting walls. In a different section you can get your perfect paint colour made up and shaken too. My fifth and last favourite section is the lighting section near the back of the shop. Here we bought our exhaust fan/normal lights/heating lights for our bathroom and they look spectacular, even though we had no idea, someone was always around to give us one, or what they thought, sometimes they didn't even work there. That's the kind of person that shops at Bunnings. Definetely worth going there, if not for the cheap insect catchers and mini garden pots and number plate signs for your house or business. Absolutely anything seems possible. Fortunately I tend to snap to before I attempt to jam the entire warehouse into my car. Instead I'll usually just wander up to one of the many friendly and knowledgable staff and ask about this that and the other. Tools, colours, key cutting - These guys know it all.
