My son and I were driving up to Spokane and stopped in Couer d'Alene for a few house to check out…read morethe town. Being a pretty nice day outside we thought to kill an hour at a local outdoor mini golf course. We found this one on Yelp and gave it a try. It was not a great sign when I drove right by it and didn't see it...because the plot of land it's on is tiny, like this was someone's backyard and not a commercial plot. We paid our $7 each and picked out our golf balls. The course and holes are tiny. Each hole is only about 20 ft long and about 6 ft wide. There's typically one barrier or decoration on each hole to avoid. Most shots you have to stand outside the boundary of the hole to putt because it's so narrow. The worst part was...the green don't roll true at all. There's little breaks and movement like there's invisible pinball bumpers impacting your ball the whole time. There's very little skill involved here. Our favorite hole was one where you had to make it in or the ball would roll all the way back down and off the green every time. And with the random nature of each putt, we each tried 8 or so times and then just picked up and moved on. One of the few nice things were the porcelain creatures and decorations around. It added a little bit of a fun element. The trees and shade in certain spots was also nice so the sun isn't beating down on you the whole time. I was on the border of giving this 2 stars but decided 3 stars is fair for those who don't care about their score or getting rewarded for hitting good putts. It's just decent enough that you can still get some enjoyment out here. Bonus note, after the round we got a BOGO coupon for future rounds. there's also a chance to get a free game on the 19th hole machine.

For a place that should make people happy, it was quite the disappointment overall…read more Only thing going for this place is their outdoor mini-golf. The only reason being is that it's the only outdoor mini course in Spokane. Staff - The only gal who was working was quite pleasant and tried to make the place fun, while three other guys just looked surly and bored to be there. Arcade - The worst I've played at. Over a third of the games were offline or not working. The ones that we tried either errored out or were claw machines. Beware of the claw machines! I overheard a staff member tell another patron that they are on the highest setting for limited payout. We probably tried one that contained various Sonic characters around 30 times, and still wasn't on payout. Prize Counter - pretty sad looking and only tailored to kids, which I get, but a lot of arcades now tend to have a mixture that would lure adults. If we do come back, it would only be for the outside mini golf, but I would rather drive 40 minutes to go to Triple Plays outside mini golf, along with a decent arcade.

At first I thought it was a little expensive. But after 11 hours of fun there with my daughter…read moreand granddaughter, I have changed my mind. I would say we definitely received value for the money we spent! We stayed at the attached hotel (which did not impress me, see my separate review for them) so we hit the amusement park right at opening at 10am. We enjoyed the attractions and arcades until dinner time, then we went back to the room, changed clothes and hit the water park until about 9pm. My granddaughter was on sensory overload the entire day. Never a dull moment for her. The reason I deducted a star from what otherwise was a 5 star experience? Their pricing for children is unfair in my opinion. It is based on age (e.g. kids "X" and under pay less) when it should be based on height. My granddaughter is quite small for her age. Because of this, she was shut out of many of the attractions. Which I totally understand and agree with for safety. However....we had to pay full price for her even though she could not enjoy a quarter of the attractions. They really should consider changing their policy to "kids under 40 inches pay less" type pricing instead of basing it on age. Since height is really what determines what they can and cannot enjoy here. But, despite this set back, the three of us managed to have a GREAT day at this park. Would I go back there? Oh...heck ya! And I would suggest you do likewise.

Triple Play gets the job done for a quick, local place to kill a few hours with your kids. They do…read morea lot of things, but none of them terribly well, and it costs an arm and a leg. You're paying for the convience of something right in town rather than taking a trip to Silverwood or out to Silver Mountain. The amusements are scaled-down to fit in a commercial building and nothing is terribly thrilling. I think the age-range sweet spot is maybe 6 to 12, older kids would probably be a bit underwhelmed. Food is pretty affordable and what you'd expect (pizza, french fries, ice cream). Seating for grown ups is hard to come by and really uncomfortable so if you're bringing your kids out prepare to be bored with a sore ass and/or feet. I reccomend headphones and an audiobook. The arcade is insanely expensive IMO. Games start around $1-2 and range up to $7 for a single game. You can go through $20 per kid n half an hour easily. The indoor water park is a nice option in winter. It's $30 and you can stay all day. Come early to grab your beach chairs or they will be gone. I posted a video showing the size and scope. Not amazing but pretty decent. Adults can pay $5 rather than $30 if you're simply going to watch your kids, but this puts you up on barren balcony of sadness that looks like an afterthought / fire escape with really uncomfortable seating.

Coeur d' Alene has been on my list as everyone says how great it is. So, a friend flew to visit over the summer and we spent 2 nights at the resort in their North Wing room. Then another friend came to visit this month, so we returned (with a much better experience). Arrival: Both visits were easy and we self parked. Be aware that there is an elevator from the parking garage to the resort and it is not the same one that will bring you to your room. Easy if you don't have a lot of stuff, but one visit I brought my dog and I could have used a luggage cart. So unload up front and then go park. Check in: Very quick. No wait. On the 2nd stay we were allowed to check in early which was nice. Rooms: North Wing- yikes. It does say on the site it is for the "value minded traveler." It shows. Summer is expensive there and since we were going to be outside the majority of the time it wasn't horrible. However, the room is much like a motel with the window facing a walkway. Ours was right next to the elevator. ugh. The inside was just okay. As others have mentioned, it could use updating. My second stay we stayed in the Lake Tower Room with double beds and fireplace and balcony. It was lovely. Nice room, beds comfortable, but the best was the view. Housekeeping: Unfortunately, both stays no one came to service the room. The Lake Tower even had a button to push when you want it serviced. We were out of the room by late morning and had the button turned on. Oh well. When I called, they did offer to service the room but we were tired and wanted to relax. One minor thing is that there is quite the push for tipping. I believe it came in an email and text. Just thought it was tacky. I've never seen that done before. Amenities: Visited the outdoor Blu pool during the summer. It was busy. My friend and I found an area that was "adults only" (not near the pool) and enjoyed the lake more than the kids in the pool crowd. Restaurants: Dined at Beverly's and Dockside. I will write separate reviews for them. All positive and will be back. The pre fixe dinner (early bird) was a great deal at Beverly's! ***Only policy I would suggest a change on is their charge for pet fee. It's one of the highest I've paid (and I've stayed at 5 star resorts) There is a DAILY $75 fee (someone said they cap at $150). I understand a fee is necessary, but I think that is a bit over the top. Our pup is crated (and prefers it) so does not require that deep level of clean other dogs might need. It might be better to have a standard reasonable fee and then charge the owner if the animal's stay requires additional cleaning.
