Victorian furniture, stained glass, and an ornate dining room fit for kings. The owner, Mary, was a joy to talk to and made delicious iced tea for us to enjoy in the afternoon as we sat in the Mansion's "Secret Garden." The E.J. Roberts Suite was spacious and inviting (all red decor ... no frilly flowers you find in most B&Bs). The only downsides was that the bathroom was quite small (hard to find a big bathroom in most B&Bs anyway) with the sink outside of the room, and the king sized bed, while extremely comfortable, was really two smaller beds pushed together (we knew that beforehand from the website, and we thought we wouldn't notice, but we kept getting caught between the break). I look forward to trying out some of the other rooms on a future visit. Also, while I heard most visitors got a three or four course breakfast, we started with fruit, then had a breakfast burrito with a side of potatoes. A perfectly satisfying breakfast, but perhaps we should've stayed on a Friday or Saturday to get a full breakfast. But these were all very minor issues. Overall, the Mansion was a great place to stay and well worth the money. I can't wait to see what Mary does with the restaurant she's planning to open next door! Tip: Eat at the Elk Public House for lunch and dinner. Great neighborhood restaurant with outdoor seating. It's right around the corner from the Mansion (a 2 minute walk) and has great wine, beer, and sandwiches (I'm still thinking about how good the Santa Fe Chicken was).

It has become a repeated problem that seriously affects the surrounding neighbors. What is even more concerning is that, to our knowledge, the building still does not have a proper occupancy approval, despite concerns being brought to the county multiple times. Nothing meaningful seems to have been done to address the situation. As far as we can tell, there are also no wheelchair-accessible restrooms available for guests, only portable toilets outside. We understand people want a place to celebrate events, but there also needs to be responsibility, respect for neighbors, and compliance with basic safety and accessibility standards. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience.

Here is my experience: I purchased 2 VIP tickets for both Friday & Saturday events. This was to be a gift. A few days before I needed to give this gift, they cancelled the event. (But they did not really cancel. They changed the name "From the Ashes" to "Discovery Fire." I spoke with both people in charge of handling the event (the person who set everything up (From the Ashes) and the Settlers Inn person (Discovery Fire) who is now handling it. I was told that those who only bought the one day are fine but those who bought both days now had to buy again. They would NOT sell me tickets over the phone. They said I would need to go to the website again to purchase tickets. The website charges fees. The refund will not include fees. Not a big deal except I shouldn't have to pay additional fees that I have already paid. Their answer: So sorry. We cannot do anything about it. I am very angry. I have a very short time to try to find another gift for my son. Buyer beware: This event may or may not take place. IF you purchase tickets, they still may cancel the event. Customer service is very lacking. BEWARE: From the Ashes Idaho 2023 is now Discovery Fire, a live fire cooking event by Settlers Creek Events.

I spent over an hour trying to transfer them to my sister through their ticketing app. Nothing worked. When I called the main number for the theater for help, the manager picked up. She was immediately condescending and rude. She said, "Dear, I'm in the MIDDLE of OPENING and I'M the MANAGER and you can just go to the box office people and WORK IT OUT WITH THEM," and hung up on me. I never asked for a manager. I just needed help. They clearly don't have a real support system. No one was available to handle a simple ticketing issue. After everything I spent to attend, including hotel and airfare, being dismissed like that was unacceptable.
