The kids playground is a lot of fun and has some unique features. There is a petting zoo as well, basketball and tennis / pickleball courts. So much to do! I guess it is considered off-season right now because only one of the doors out of four was unlocked and there was poop smeared on the walls and on the floor... I understand not wanting to have to clean four separate showers but leaving one shower for everyone to have to use considering their isn't someone cleaning it daily is unprofessional and inconsiderate. Also, we asked for firewood and saw a pallet of it behind the building but wasn't allowed to purchase any. The hours on the store are flaky and I'm never coming in late April again. We wanted to avoid the crowds but that wasn't a good choice I guess. Also, tent camping left us hearing the neighboring tent guests sounding like hound dogs from midnight until 3 am. I went to sleep about 10 and woke up to sex sounds louder than anything I've ever heard. I was about to go offer them a pair of socks to shove in their mouths. Maybe I'm not meant for this lifestyle if there are no standards

Beautiful and easy walking trail located in Brandenburg Kentucky. We decided to check this place…read moreout after stopping by in popular Brandenburg attraction jailhouse pizza. The gps with the current yelp address took us to some industrial area with construction called buttermilk falls commerce. It said we had another 1.5 miles to go but there was a sign that said trails with an arrow pointing left. Right past that is a security shack for the commercial buildings. The very nice gentleman there told us the gps is wrong that we can park in a gravel lot right behind us where the trails sign was. Or if we were out of Towners he recommended parking at riverfront park right by jailhouse pizza and grabbing some pizza and walking the calories off as the other entrance is located there. We literally had just left that area so we did some unnecessary driving. After popping a u turn and parking in the Gravel parking lot you enter a park entrance that is gravel and has a sign. Buttermilk falls is about 2.5 miles one way and on a straight line that ends at the river front park. We took the concrete road and about 1/4 a mile in you see a break off nature path called "Emmett falls trail" you could either go here or stay on the concrete path. We took the scenic wooded path. It was about .5 miles of real beautiful and pretty scenery until we reached the very large and wonderful Emmett falls. They have a lovely seating area right at the bottom and you can climb to the top of th waterfall as well. Emmett falls is the only "large" waterfall in buttermilk falls. At the tail End of the trail towards the riverfront parks you hit stretch of several beautiful small ones. But Emmett is the big boy! After that you you can trek back onto the path you was in before veering left to the waterfall and continue forward which will take you back to the concrete path you was originally on. Or you can cross over to the concrete path immediately and then head back to the gravel parking lot by hanging a right or continue left and move forward on the concrete path. Once back on the concrete path you will cross a few lovely bridges and scenic opportunities. You will encounter one port o pot about the halfway point. You continue along the concrete trials and as you get closer to the riverfront park entrance there are several very small and beautiful water falls everywhere on both sides of the concrete path. Very lovely and great photo ops. Once reaching the other small waterfalls we turned around and took the concrete path all the way back. So we kinda created are own loop. Very nice, simple and beautiful walking trails. As for where to park for out towners like myself it depends on want you want to see. If you want to see the huge Emmett falls first then I would park at the entrance of buttermilk falls commerce as it is closer to that entrance. If you want to see several tiny ones first then start at the river front park entrance. If your gonna see both then either is good. It would of been nice if we had known you could enter through river front park as we had literally just left that area after eating jailhouse pizza. But either way we still had a great time and enjoyed. I will give a warning at least for AT&T users. You will not have great reception here. Calls and texts are spotty and internet is a no go. So bring plenty of charge and do some pre planning if that's a necessity for you. Overall absolutely worth checking out. We spent a day in Brandenburg all in that same vicinity and the entire family and group of friends we went with had a wonderful and memorable time.

The cave tour was amazing and our guide was really knowledgeable and entertaining. All of the cave formations were really cool to view, there were so many different types of stalactites and stalagmites throughout the cave. Marengo cave offers activities for all ages, cave tours, crawling tours,slides, putt putt, and a casual restaurant. From what I hear they're gonna offer an additional amenity soon.

Our kids have never been in a deep cave like this, so I thought it would be fun to give them that experience. I'm glad we stopped. Beautiful cave with many unique features and sights. The mirror pool is really cool as well as the organ wall where they used to hold weddings. Most of the cave is pretty easy to navigate and accessible. Our tour guide was really friendly and knew a lot about the history of the cave and area. Cool story on how the cave was found and great history to explore. Prices were reasonable for the time spent in the cave, well worth the time and money for a great caving experience.

Wildcat Cove Lodge…read more You know how some places you rent don't end up being as nice as the photos in the listing? Not Wildcat Cove Cottage! This place is better than the photos show! Upon our arrival the house was impeccably spotless. Thoughtful touches. Fly swatter on the patio table and indoors on the desk. Nice. Apple device charger next to the desk. Nice. Frosty, frozen beer mugs in the freezer. Nice. Even though we brought our own, masks and hand sanitizer we're provided. Nice. Ample hangers in closets. Nice. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Nice. Master bath needs handrail(s) for safer jacuzzi tub entry / exit. A towel bar to hang wet towels would be a nice touch. We may be more outdoorsey than some, but we would have liked to open the windows at night, but there are no screens. This house has everything, how can it not have screens? State Park style BBQ is literally indestructible, but not a great device for making steaks. We understand having it away from the house, but a standard charcoal BBQ could be installed so it cannot be brought close to the house and be much better to cook on. The grounds are nicely maintained. Chairs and rocking chairs on the front porch were perfect for watching the 3 turkeys. There's a picnic table to the side of the house and down the hill in back a fire pit and horseshoes. This location is great. 10 minutes to the heart of French Lick and less than 15 minutes to the entrance to Patoka Lake. We have never stayed in a place that has supplied wine on a honor basis to just leave money if you open a bottle. What a great idea. If we were to return to French Lick and Patoka Lake we would definitely rent this house from Randy again.

This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that is attractive, nicely decorated, and convenient to French Lick, Patoka Lake and other area attractions like Spring Mill Park. The fully equipped kitchen is really great and has all you need you need to make everything from a snack to a full dinner (provided you supply the food.) Lots of sitting areas outside including a large front porch, a garden sitting area on the side of the house and in the back a grill and fire pit. The house also has a large laundry room and a jetted tub in master suite with a shower. Although this place would be great for hunters and fishermen, it is much nicer than your average hunting lodge and would work well for families, or a get-away week or weekend.
