Beach is easily accessible for swimming in summer and skating in the winter. Feels so safe here since its small town alberta. I'd have to recommend coming here for the winter festival with parade. I think its called the yuletide festival. A big Christmas market and parade with a 5 min fireworks show which is pretty good for a small town in sylvan lake!

Busy days are densely populated on the grassy area and hence garbage abounds. Although parking is scarce, they are attempting to correct this. However, more parking means the grassy area will be that much more populated and congested. This beach is definitely not what it used to be. Mind you, I am looking at this from a family perspective and also as a local. However, if you are looking for a social atmosphere, this is the beach for you.

I've been to Gull Lake three times now and it's a pretty good spot for a small gather (under 20…read morepeople). It's family friendly too so don't expect to bring your beer here and go skinny dipping. There's a beach that's about 1 KM long and you can walk pretty far out in the water before it even reaches four feet high. Probably over 100 yards. In the beach is also a fairly new playground for the kiddes and behind the beach is room for camp grounds and trailers. It's not exactly a huge Lake/ Camp area but it's nice. It feels secluded too because there's trees around the whole area. Bathrooms were descent and I didn't ever have to wait in line. The woman's washroom has a shower too but the men's don't. Not sure why. There's also a Bible Camp that runs just near the Lake and is the turn off just before it so if you get lost you'll know pretty quick.

I loved the hike we did in this area. We walked about 4 kilometers which included a few steep…read moreplaces but the path was well maintained and had good steps built in along with informative placards and railings. There were also some art pieces some great lookout spots and a bit of playground equipment for the kids to begin and end the path. We came on a great fall day and saw quite a few birds in and on the water along with a few other animals (deer among others). I would highly recommend this short hike -- it isn't too difficult (though if you have reduced mobility I'd stay on the flat area which is paved rather than on the dirt path). There is ample parking nearby and the gift shop building has restrooms and exhibits among other things.

The park is beautiful. The musical playground looks super fun. We will check that out next time. Family Day was a great day to go. Lots of activities for the children. The planetarium show was great. I am going to admit straight off the hop that there are other boat launches on Sylvan, but none as nicely set up as Sylvan Lake marina. It has a concrete launch, dock and parking. If you have a smaller fishing boat, then paying the exorbitant launch fee of $15 probably isn't worth it and I'd suggest you avoid this place, but if you have a nice new Wakesetter, then you are pretty stuck going here. (Note that this launch is privately owned and not a provincial dock) Despite the fact that the place can organize and speed through a long line of boat launches on a busy summer day, I think my major gripes is the tourists that come here with a boat but have little experience actually launching or picking up their boats and actually driving them. Sure they have a boat license, but there have been a number of times that we've seen or personally experienced drivers running into other boats in the docking area. The marina shop is a nice little shop, though. Filled with boating accessories, equipment and clothing, as well as minor sundry items, it has what you need when you are in a pinch. It's also home to the our most recognizable landmark, the Sylvan Lake lighthouse. While from a distance, it is looks pretty, I don't recommend actually walking up to it. It is filled with bird poop and the immediate grounds are left unkept and overrun with weeds. I find it disappointing because it is the most identifiable landmark in Sylvan. While that is true to a certain extent, but you'll find that that camper only gets towed somewhere a couple times a year and let's face it, gas is expensive. Then, consider storage fees if you can't keep your camper at your home. So here's the deal. Seasonal sites are sorta where it's at. They are a convenient distance from major Alberta centres. You can buzz down and have a relaxing weekend. You actually use your camper more than once or twice a year, which is a good thing because those things aren't cheap. And it's like a small community. You know your neighbours, they become your friends and your kids have a shangri-la of things to do and summer friends to hang out with. Starting to sound good? That brings us to Green Acres. This place is a members only site, so you can't just mosey on in and expect to join in on the fun. Well, you can, sort of, but you gotta know a member. But it's worth it. Firstly, the place is immaculate. Well manicured and well kept. The people there are so nice. Didn't bring food? That's ok, Lucy's has you covered with a full service restaurant. Need stuff to do? Great! Pick up the newsletter to hear about the camper walk & shop, dances on long weekends or the camper crawl. Or, just head down to Lucy's for a swim in the salt water pool, video games and pool tables. Oh yeah, and the book exchange. Go down to the lake and wade in the water or send the kids to one of three playgrounds. Oh, you'll never be bored! Maybe consider unplugging yourself from social media or Yelp (sorry, Yelp) because the reception in the valley is pretty weak and sometimes non-existent. However, cell service is ok. But who needs that when you are relaxing, right? Yep, love it there hanging with old friends and meeting new. Definitely a must go if a seasonal camping site is your thing.

Nothing for children to do but wander. Religous owners that have a need to control how you spend your free time. Security provided to police the campers and make you feel like your not allowed to have fun. Lease with rules is about 10 pages long, but if you go to the office/store and gossip everyday, the rules will be changed in your favor. Good luck enjoying a beer with your neighbors as you can't carry it to their campsite without risk of being caught and banned from park. Wouldnt reccommend campground to my worst enemy. Used to be nice place to go, but ownership has some serious issues.
