This was fun. Whole family had a site near the beach with multiple families that we are friends with at multiple nearby sites. Very relaxing and fun. A place where parents can have alot of fun while their kids do too. Fireworks on Sept long weekend were great. Shout out to gram who was working 9am to 10pm when we arrived. Bring her a drink if you see her. Works way too hard not to be rewarded. We booked again for next year. Book in advance as they book up quickly. read more

We have been coming here for 5-6 years and keep coming back (back in the day they used to have horse drawn wagon rides). Been in group sites, double sites and single power & no power sites. It is such a fantastic place for families with kids and we come out at least twice a year. And we keep bringing new families and friends with us who leave loving it as much as we do. There are many things to do for all ages at this campground. The Merry Go Round is .25cents per ride, the Train Ride $1, wagon rides, Arcades, horseshoe pits, entertainment and crafts + a smallish farmers market. They have indoor mini golf, playgrounds all over, boat rentals & an ice cream shop at the beach, go cart rentals...the list goes on and on. The beach (Buffalo Lake) is decent and you can walk out quite a ways safely (on Saturday's they have sand castle competitions). July & September long weekend they do fire works on the beach. Grandma's Kitchen puts out some good grub and is also a store for necessities you may require. And they even have a special (separate) coffee shop! There are cabin rentals if you are not a camper and even a motel on site. This place is family run, clean and well taken care of. And it appears they are always trying new things to improve and help entertain families (ie: glitter tattoo artists were there last year/this year as well as last July they had Sumo Wrestling Suits available). Great place...but book early as it fills quickly. We are headed back there in 3 days for our final camping trip of the year. read more

If it was possible to give this place a zero rating I would. This was our second group trip out to Ol' MacDonald Resort staying in the overflow lot. Our first experience (2 years ago) we were hassled by the owner "Kevin" on multiple occasions from how our tents were positioned to our dog barking at him when he abruptly approached us. We were threatened to be kicked out which left a very bad taste in our mouths especially since we are very aware of quiet time and rules. We were reluctant to go back but decided that we would try a different part of the overflow lot this year as it could easily accommodate our party of 20 (7 adults and 13 children ranging from 8-15). Our first 3 days were fine but in our 4th day we experienced the unthinkable from once again, the owner Kevin. 3 of the 13 kids in our party were racially profiled by a woman and accused of stealing a purse from the playground structure (this definitely did NOT happen). 1 of the 3 black kids in our party was on the structure with another white kid from our party when this allegedly happened. He stormed on to our site accusing the black kids of theft. Brought a "witness" to point out the black kids (again 2 of which were not on the structure at the time). Neither of them made any mention of the white kid who was actually on this structure. He had to speak up and say himself that he was there. He condoned her racist behavior and wanted to speak to the kids without a parent or guardian present. When we would not allow this he told us we could leave. Then suddenly his focus changed to 2 other kids coming back to our site. He then accused them of being there. Once one of the male parents tried to explain to him what he was doing by profiling these kids and changing his story once others arrived. He then said we could stay but the kids could not leave the site, not even to go to the bathroom. We packed up and demanded a refund. I will NEVER go back nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. It is so unfortunate that the management is so poor. If you are a person of color, be aware that this type of disgraceful behavior may also be your experience if you cross paths with the owner, Kevin. read more

Upon pulling into the resort we discovered our reservation was lost (but my credit card was charged) so after much discussion with the people at the gate, we had to make a visit to the office to solve the mystery. The site for our 21 foot trailer was so small, that our slide was too close to the firepit we couldn't have a fire. There are designated hours of operation for running generators which starts at 8 a.m. I feel like that is still pretty early, when you just want to enjoy some peace in nature. Frankly, there is just too much going on at this "campground". It appears there is a lot of free-range parenting going on here, as unsupervised kids on trikes (rentals) and bikes are racing down the roads and not being courteous to people hauling their trailers or pedestrians walking down the gravel roads. The "farmers market" consists of reps selling their products from multi-level marketing companies, which was a bit of a disappointment. Bathrooms/showers are dirty. Thank goodness I have my own in my trailer. We did really enjoy the tie-dying activity. That was great! The beach did appear clean and looked like a fun place to be (80's music pumping, concession etc.) but unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check out the water before a storm came. It was almost a 3 hr. drive - For $40 a night, in a tiny site with no services and no fire - we will never be back! read more

I come here annually with the kids and always meet with a group of friends and their families so it is always fun. I get excited when I 1st arrive and am sad when we have to leave, but I always look forward to the next year. read more

This campsite almost deserves zero stars. I took my two nephews and niece here for a week and actually left the next day. The one guy at gate charged me the wrong price when the security guy came and informed me he was very rude and almost yelling. The bathrooms were dirty. I find they nickel and dime you for everything. I recommend going somewhere else. read more

Great family camping on Buffalo Lake - several playgrounds, train and carousel rides ($) and a variety of pedal cars ($). Good variety of campsites available (no service, part and full service) plus several partly-serviced grass sites with fire pit and tables for groups. Nice sandy beach and good marina. Nice to see fire pits and sturdy tables at each site. A few of the full service sites are quite narrow and could use some pea gravel or more grass. Be aware of the sticky poplar seeds that cover the ground in late May/early June - tough on dogs with longer hair! Price is a bit on the high side but the variety of amenities make up for it. There is an extra charge of $5/day for a dog - obviously they have had some irresponsible dog owners. Overall this is one of the better private RV parks that we have visited. read more

My family has been camping there every year for 10 plus years and each year it gets worse! Our very first day this year my daughter and younger sister took the money they saved up to go buy a treat at the gift shop and were accused of trying to steal when they had money and every intention of paying. I'm not a person to overreact and told assumed it was just a miss understanding and didn't give it much thought but it turns out it's common practice at the gift shop. They yell at kids for touching the very small selection of toys they have in there and will kick them out for simply touching things I have seen this with other kids and was appalled but don't dare say anything to the staff about it because they just fly off the handle they can't handle complaints. Don't let your kids go to the stores alone unless u want them leaving in tears! Now the upkeep has gone downhill big time!! There is one stall in the ladies bathroom that locks and they are filthy! But don't you dare tell them that cuz they don't like complaints and they won't fix them anyway! The only good part of our camping experience was the beach. It's very disappointing because we've gone for years and loved it but it gets worse every year! I'm sad to say that I wouldn't recommend this place anymore. Customer service means a lot to us. As a family with young children we appreciate a campground with lots of amenities. With that said, I don't completely understand why it's necessary to be so blantaly rude and unhelpful. Cool place to camp but not very friendly on the customer service front. read more

Staff members rude and obnoxious. Not enough bathrooms for over 400 camping spots, and hope next time you use the washroom that the toilet is not blocked or dirty. Won't go back there again! read more

We loved this campground! Kids from 5 to 13 enjoyed their time here. The beach was raked every morning, the view was spectacular from our site. Loved the fireworks every night (campers bought and set off.) I don't like being around people and even on weekends this campground was spacious enough for me. The sites are divided and quiet time enforced. My son and I sat quietly around the fire late into the night without others bothering us. I would have, if I had had, taken my animals with me despite a dog beach moratorium. Animal, kid friendly and clean place. Missed last year but won't miss it again. read more
