Our son is a very busy student athlete that needed additional help with Algebra 2 (same subject that our daughter need help with in HS). Prior to working with the tutors, he had a D for 1st quarter. By the end of the school year, he ended up with an A for his last semester, last quarter & final grade of the year!!! If it wasn't for the 3 different tutors (Jenn, Tracy & Mike) that worked together to accommodate his extremely busy schedule to fit in his once a week evening sessions, he would not have achieved earning that A. They all provided helpful tips/strategies to help him understand, prepare/study & apply it during the exam. The owner Tracy is always very quick to respond and does an excellent job coordinating with the tutors & student to fit in those sessions. We are so grateful for Quick Stars Tutoring and how much they have helped our kids. We highly recommend them for any students that need extra help & will definitely work with them again if we ever need it.

Scheduling sessions has always been easy, flexible, and consistent. They truly take the time to match students with the right tutor based on their individual needs, which reflects how professional and dedicated their team is. After taking about a year off, I noticed a slight decline in my son's study habits, which led us to enroll him again during his 8th grade year. Since returning, I have seen a tremendous improvement not only in his study habits, but also in his grades, confidence, and overall attitude toward learning. The support, structure, and encouragement provided by his tutors have made such a positive impact on his academic growth and motivation. His tutor this year, Theta, has especially helped build his confidence in math and strengthen his understanding of the material. As a result, he has received Honor Roll every quarter so far and felt much more confident taking the PSATs this year. I'm so grateful that we found Quick Stars Tutoring. Our son has genuinely enjoyed his experience and recognizes how much it has helped him academically over the years.

He was immediately tested for his grade level in all subjects. His test scores in Math showed that he was below the National average for his age and grade level. This is something that we already new, since his Math skills were very poor. The first year at Corvid was a struggle because he needed to catch up to his grade level and stay current with all other subjects. He finished the year not only testing at his grade level for Math, but excelling and surpassing his grade level in other subjects. Our son is now a High School Junior at Corvid Academy. He is on his way to graduating next year! Not only has he been able to excel in his studies, he also has the opportunity to gain public speaking, power point presentations and teaching skills. The highlight of his experience at Corvid Academy has been his participation in the amazing yearly Theater Productions. Through the direction of Ms. Shannon Sofa, Corvid Academy has put on spectacular full production musical plays such as "West Side Story". Our son has played major roles in "Grease" and "Disney". They students are now working on the biggest production yet...."Newsies"! I would have never thought that our son would act, sing and dance,be on a big stage, and learn backstage production! Performing has become his passion! We are very happy with Corvid Academy. We are grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Sofa for creating this amazing school. They and their staff, truly care about all of their students!

I'm a personal alumni of Corvid Academy, and all I can really say is that I honestly miss the…read moreschool. This school has impacted me on not only my school life but personal life. Being placed in that school was probably the best thing that my parents could have done for me. I'm not gonna lie and say that going to that school was a perfect experience, because it wasn't. When I first started, I was supposed to be placed in 5th grade, but due to low testing scores was placed a year back. I had a terrible problem with math first coming Corvid. I was a 4th grader who couldn't do simple subtraction, but through numerous one-on-one time with Mr. Johnathan (a teacher at the time) and Mrs. Sofa, I eventually got the hang of it. They took my strength, reading comprehension, and wrote out instructions on how to do it for me to read it and I got it! They then began to do this for each of my math difficulties. I stayed there for the rest of my grades and slowly but surely got caught back up. It was not easy, there were times when I fell behind and thought that I should just give up, but I can guarantee tell you that the teachers do NOT give up on you. No matter how difficult you may be. There were times where I wasn't a good student and I did some things, but they never turned their back on me. Mrs. Sofa cares so much about her students and she wants to see each and every one succeed, even hard-headed students like myself. I believe that I was a junior in High school when Mrs. Sofa and I had a personal talk about what I should do after High School. She suggested that since I wasn't as strong in Math, that I should become an English teacher. She was always telling me how good I was with my English skills and comprehension, so I really took that to heart. She was not the only one who really made an impact on me. Mrs. Shannon also did. She's like a big sister (or even a mom) to me. She's always be there for me to talk to when I felt like I couldn't talk to anyone. She was always there to make sure that I was on track to graduating and when I fell behind she made sure to get me caught up. She made countless schedules and made sure I kept up with them and helped me with the hard lessons. She's also the very one who brought musical theater into my life. She really believed in me and cast me as "Anita" in the production of "West Side Story", "Rizzo" in "Grease", and even the lead of Peter Pan in "Disney Enchanted Dreams." She worked constantly with me on each role. From rolling my r's to becoming more young-boy-like, she was there constantly helping me to perfect my singing and acting. Then there was also Ms. Mary, she's the High School TA, I have to give her props. She's always their making sure we know what we have to be on, and she's always updating our weekly lists so that we don't get behind. Even if we do get behind, she's always there to help make a list to get us back on track. She's aIso an amazing confidant to talk to. I've had a lot of talks and vents with her, and she gives amazing advice that I always take to heart. I will forever be grateful for everything that Corvid has done for me and I will never forget the memories that I made here. I'm currently at Leeward Community College and getting my associates in Secondary Teaching. I hope to transfer to a 4-year-college after my 2 years. I sometimes come by to help out with the kids to get volunteer hours for a college class, and I hope to do more in the future. I like to think of it as giving back to the school for all those years. I don't think I could ever really leave the school, the teachers and faculty have really become like family to me. I credit where I am today to Corvid Academy.

My son who has ADHD was failing his classes in the 4th grade. He couldn't remember his multiplication and he would always dread doing any homework or practicing his vocabulary or multiplication. When I enrolled him, he never complained once going to his session. This place is small and offers one on one attention to the student. Kumon, for example, doesn't work well for my son. He needs someone to be there to explain, motivate, and help him understand step by step. Although you don't get the same tutors each time you go, the tutors here are Amazing. I sit in the waiting area and hear each one of them tutoring the kids. The tutors are kind and understanding of the needs of the child. I was really impressed with how they handle each student's learning styles and caters to them. Kudos to this place. My sons learned so much even after a few sessions and it's made such a big difference. Plus each time you go, you get what's called "wiz dollars" and my son gets excited each time so he could earn enough to get a toy. This place may be more than other tutoring centers but it is 100 percent worth it.

While Wizkidz is $720 for a 70 mins per session (20session plus registration) twice week for almost 3 months. They just do not focus on 1 sudject for preK's they cover everything and make learning so fun. I wish I could continue my toodler for another session but due to work sched change and distance these will be there last wk. I do highly recommend Wizkids will definitely come back.

I heard great things from parents who use the service for their children about Kumon learning and read some great reviews both from Yelp (albeit a few) and Google reviews (from the company overall not just this location) but I can't confirm. The male employee who was at the desk gave me great information about their schedule, prices, and a brochure and stated that Maureen would be calling me to schedule a placement test (I think that was the test they mentioned but it's been so long I forgot). However, nobody ever followed up. I realize that businesses have been struggling with getting back into their normal routine but, at least give me the courtesy of a call to say you are full or busy and will get back to me. Every teacher there felt like they were born to be a pre-school teacher! We feel incredibly grateful to have found Ewa Plains Enrichment in Ewa Beach for our son. From the very beginning, it felt personal. We were not just enrolling in a school but becoming part of a warm, loving community that felt like family. Miss Jessica and the entire team of teachers are everything you would hope for in a preschool. They are warm, kind, intelligent, and fully engaged with the children. Their sincerity and care were evident every single day. It was almost tangible how much they truly loved each child, including ours. The mission of Ewa Plains Enrichment feels centered in love. Every lesson, classroom moment, and interaction reflects that. Our son not only learned how to read here, but something lit up inside him. It was as if a light switched on, and now he reads his own bedtime stories with joy and confidence. This milestone was nurtured by the school's incredible literacy program and the encouragement of his teachers. The school's focus on literacy is truly outstanding. The dedication and joy the teachers bring to reading is something our family will never forget. We also deeply appreciated the school's commitment to Hawaiian culture. Field trips to the lo'i, the pumpkin patch, and the library helped connect learning to the land and the community. Through songs, stories, and hands-on experiences, the children developed a strong sense of place and respect. As a Buddhist family, we always felt completely welcomed and respected at this Christian school. The values of kindness, compassion, gratitude, and responsibility were shared in a loving and inclusive way that felt deeply aligned with our home life. Our son also had the opportunity to share his own heritage during Culture Week and to learn about the cultures of his classmates. Seeing his identity honored and celebrated was incredibly meaningful and helped him feel proud and connected. The school created beautiful memories throughout the year, from Christmas and Easter performances to a heartfelt Mother's Day celebration. Preschool graduation was one of the best graduation events I have ever attended. It was thoughtful, joyful, and full of love. You could see how much the staff cared about each and every child. During a year when our family needed to take extended international trips, the school was flexible, understanding, and supportive. They even prepared homework packets for our son to bring with him, so he could stay connected and continue learning while we traveled. That level of care and thoughtfulness meant so much to us. Ewa Plains Enrichment has been around for many years, and that experience shows in the most beautiful ways. The staff have worked with so many different types of children and family situations, and their understanding, flexibility, and wisdom come through in how they support each student. You can tell they have truly seen it all and are prepared to meet each child where they are, with love and confidence. Ewa Plains Enrichment consistently goes above and beyond what is expected. They are always thinking about the children and their future. This is not just a school. It is a place where children are truly seen, nurtured, and loved. We will be forever grateful to this school, which is a true gift to the community and island!

I was looking for a preschool that wasn't a daycare. All the preschools I found are just that,…read moredaycare with education. I don't need my child to eat snacks, play at recess, or nap on my dime. Being a stay at home mom, I can take care of this stuff. What I need is a professional preschool teacher who knows how to hold my child's attention enough to teach her something. I can teach my daughter too, but after a few minutes she goofs off and just doesn't take me too seriously. I found the perfect solution! At Planet Preschool, Tamara Jenkins, who's been a preschool teacher for 15 years. You might better know her as the "Kindergarten Coach." As of almost a year, she decided to open up her own preschool in her own home. She transformed her lower floor of her Kapolei home into a full fledged preschool. Her methods are to learn through play. Children will do art, play, sing with a specific curriculum in mind, so kids don't realize their learning because they're essentially playing. Genius idea! Mrs. Jenkins believes each child is different and thus learns at a different pace so she guides her teaching specific to each child's pace. If one child already knows her ABC's, then there's no need to waste a ton of time on it, so she'll move on to reading for that particular child. Her goal is to prepare your child for kindergarten but won't stop there. If your child wants to read or beyond, Mrs. Jenkins will take your child as far as your child wants to go. Currently she's got about 5 students in each class, so there's plenty of one on one time for each child. Each class will have a maximum of 10 students. You have a choice of either Tues and Thurs classes, Mon, Wed, and Fri classes, or daily classes. All classes start at 9am or 12:30pm. She's thinking about starting an afternoon class. I believe she's also starting a Kinderjam, a mommy and me class that incorporates "fun, exciting, and high-energy Music and Movement program that emphasizes the kinesthetic and tactile learning of pre-academic skills and concepts while promoting positive parent engagement." I was so desperate to find a preschool program that's not a daycare and not a parent participation preschool that was affordable. I feel so fortunate that I've finally found it! School tuition is about to increase a bit unless you enroll by May. Still affordable, but every bit of savings count. Because she's holding classes at her own home, that's why she can afford to offer classes such a low tuition rate. She's licensed so there's no need to worry. She doesn't have the fancy computers or traditional workbooks of typical preschool, but she makes it work. Check it out!

As we became cognizant of the lack of awareness regarding learning disorders in spite of their prevalence, we embarked on an incredible journey of self-discovery, acceptance, hard work, self-advocating and empowerment.
