Lighthouse Tutoring has been absolutely wonderful to work with for my son's college coursework…read more Their hourly rates are very comparable. It has been extremely easy to schedule tutoring for college level classes (currently receiving tutoring for 2 subjects). They are flexible, and they always try to provide a tutor that works around my son's class schedule. My son has had the same tutor throughout numerous tutoring sessions, thereby providing continuity in his studies. My son really enjoys the sessions, and he really feels it's worthwhile; the tutor has been extremely knowledgeable in his subjects. His grades have really improved. We strongly recommend Lighthouse Tutoring!

Interesting past reviews here on the Texas Tech University page, but I can read between the lines…read moreand just hope others can too. But this college in the dusty Panhandle town of Lubbock, Texas, ain't so bad as the low rated reviews say. It is NOT a big city. Bigger than most towns within 340 miles or so, but it's still got that small town vibe. My daughters' doctor and many other really good doctors in this vicinity studied and/or graduated from TTU. I have taken family members to Texas Tech health care facilities all over Lubbock. The staff members' compassion and competence have meant the world to me. I didn't attend Tech for a reason. I had the chance, but I didn't want to go to the same damn school as everyone else from my high school. Lol. I also didn't see the point in spending the tons of money since I knew I wouldn't be getting a full scholarship. My uncle graduated from here, though, and played baseball. Wreck 'Em! I have been here for all kinds of events and most recently my two young daughters and I walked across the campus during the day and then later on the night of April 25, 2026. The campus was well-lit in most areas. My daughter who is in seventh grade is already expressing interest in this place to become a vet. She has a while to go, but they are already pushing the college degree plan in her school. We'll see... The Red Raider mascot is one of the most unique in the country. There are traditions here. Sound ones. Good ones. It's not an ivy league... lololol, Klara K. (review from 7.25.2017). Oh man, that was funny. College is meant for meaningful degrees for significant work. Tech delivers on that. The only set back I have about it is the parking. That's most colleges. I get it. But what a pain that I don't miss.

It's a long not smooth drive from D/FW area...Once we got there on a Saturday at 8:30am, I expected…read morea very EXCITING welcome like when you tour LSU, especially since there was over 300 people/families present...NOPE...we just sat QUIETLY and ALONE for 30 mins, no presentation, no music, nothing...we was given plastic bags at arrival to carry around campus on a hot summer day (100 degrees) not backpacks like they give you at Baylor, Texas A&M, LSU and OU. They also gave us luke warm Dasani bottled water vs. ice cold as they told us it was going to be 100 degrees for the 2 hours we are in the heat. Ok, that wasn't it..we did not enter ANY of the academics buildings. stating that it was because it was a saturday and they were locked!! WELL UNLOCK them when you know you have 300 people coming from Dallas, Houston, New Mexico and California to TOUR!!! This was VERY disheartening...Don't keep us in the heat and talk to us about how NICE the honors college is with a chic fila and Starbucks or about the largest classroom but we can't see it...not when we JUST left Texas A&M and they toured us INSIDE 11 of their academic buildings on a SATURDAY in the cool air-conditioned seats and talked to us about their college of medicine, etc...and we had to drive farther to get here! Then, we only saw ONE dorm OPTION...NO WAY!!...we wanted to see at least 3 when you have over 8 or give us a map to tour off-campus apts as an alternative (like they do at TA&MU)...and the campus needs at least 1000 more trees on it...it looks very dry and desolate.. The kids (tourist) and the buildings were clean. Unless you are alumni kids or just love the color RED, I don't see the appeal personally...College Station is a nicer city, San Marcos is prettier, Austin is weirder (lol), Waco is smaller, Houston is more appealing and Dallas is classier so it comes down to legacy obviously..

I arrived today at 11:15 and the doors of the testing center were locked, the lights were out, and…read moreno one was present. There was not a note indicating that the testing center was closed and the only "sign" was a clock sign that said "sorry be back at 2:30". I waited until 11:30 and still no one from the tested center showed up to administer my test. I quickly called ETS (Educational Testing Service) through the number provided on my admission ticket and explained the situation. I waited until 1PM and no one from the testing center showed up. I was eventually informed by ETS that my test had been canceled. I was not notified by e-mail or phone by the testing center at all that the testing center would be closed. I was not even notified by the testing center that my test had been canceled, I had to go through an ETS supervisor to find out what was even going on. I am severely disappointed in this service. I sat in a parking lot for 2 hours, wasted a day I could have been teaching in my school, and now have to find a totally separate day to take off and plan for a sub in order for me to retake my exam. I even went back to the testing center a little past 2:30 hoping to talk to someone and get an explanation but no one was there despite what the sign on the door had indicated. I was not given 24 hours' notice like I was supposed to be given indicating that my testing center was closed. The testing center wasn't even listed on the website as closed; it just wasn't open. Even right now, 5 hours after my appointment, I have still not heard from the testing center - I have received all of my information from the ETS hotline. Hopefully I will never have to use this testing service again.
