I dropped off a pitbull mix at this animal shelter today that I found running around. he look very…read moreuneasy, uncomfortable, not well taken care of, he even had a shock collar on which is not good for dogs including rashes down both of his back legs and this lady gonna sit here and tell me it's just a flee problem, that poor baby was weak and skinny for his bred. then I asked if I could say bye to him cuz I've been holding him for a min and this lady gonna asking " is he your?" I said "no" ofc then she gonna say " ain't no point to see him then". like thats so messed up in my opinion because you don't know what I could've gone through with that dog with the short amount of time I was with him.

We adopted our cat Daisy from the shelter about 1.5 years ago. She was considered 'high risk' due…read moreto the previous owner claiming she had attacked their toddler. My husband wanted her regardless and she has proven to be a wonderful addition to our household. She definitely needed some TLC at first and we had to navigate some bad behavior, but she is the best! Cats are different from dogs and sometimes people shouldn't own them due to their individual personalities and needs. Understanding that this is a "thing" with cats is very important. She is now our sweet, floofy girl, who has a DEFINITE personality and we respect that. She is awesome! Thank you to the Suffolk Animal Shelter for taking her in and allowing us the opportunity to adopt her!

They did a great job with our dog... My only advice is don't let them talk you into extra services…read morethat you don't want. They encouraged us to get our dogs teeth cleaned even though we wanted to wait for our tax return. We weren't ready to pay for it and they said they would bill us so we could pay when we got our tax return. Well surprise surprise, it hasn't even been a month and they're already threatening to send us to collections. Update: The office manager already called to explain the wording on their letter will be updated and the didn't mean for it to come across wrong. I appreciate the follow up!

This was the best veterinarian until November 2025; Thanksgiving weekend. Our fur baby was a…read morepatient since he was born, almost 6 years ago. Picked him up, he appeared different, usually jumping and playful. After arriving home, I noticed that his portable crate and his butt was full of feces. Prior to leaving the office, They stated they couldn't give him a bath, but they could at minimum clean him up! This had never happened before. He was not his happy self, and drunk two small bowls of water. I called and left messages for someone to return my call. I even emailed. As of today, no one has returned my call, it has been over a year. Last straw, I called in May 2026 and was put on hold Multiple times to make an appointment and to find out why no one had contacted m. Apparently, no one cared enough to return my calls. Very disappointing! Suffolk Animal Hospital use to provide top notch service, and my Shihpoo was happy. Customer service, and my business must no longer matter. The only recourse was to find another veterinarian since the military vet is no longer an option; disheartened to say the least.

I have no idea how I haven't reviewed NACC yet, so in honor of our dawg's Gotcha Day coming up,…read morehere I am! The staff and volunteers absolutely do a fantastic job here, and the animals receive attention and love while they wait for their forever home. I followed them on Facebook for a while, watching longingly as adorable photo/bio combinations popped up in my feed, sometimes showing the Husband pups who were particularly sweet-sounding. It's all about breaking the resistance down slowly over time. Drip effect, folks. They've been indoctrinated without even realizing it and suddenly the whole family is in the car on their way to see a sweet Husky girl. Who of course is already adopted when you get there. And of course your son falls in love with a handsome pit bull who OF COURSE you take home instead. This is the cheapest animal I've ever adopted, and he came neutered, microchipped, tagged, vaccinated, and checked for food and toy aggression. Moreover, he's been the best friend for our son for a year now. Maybe they could have warned us that he's a bed hog, though!

PLEASE LISTEN TO THE OTHER 1 STAR REVIEW. I had the same experience…read more I went to this shelter earlier this week and fell in love with a beautiful cat. I was told I was the third applicant and that I would be contacted if the first 2 applicants were no longer interested. I received an email that the cat was available and asked me if I was still interested. I sent 4 emails and left 1 voice message the same day. 2 days later I sent a fifth email and received a short reply that the cat was given to someone else. Should you apply for a cat or dog, sure, but expect the shelter to play some games with you. I was a longtime foster with NACC and have donated for years. I'll be taking my business elsewhere since they can't be decent enough to respect my time.

I am off put by these reviews from people who have interacted with the staff at this facility. Some…read moresay they are happy and satisfied with their experience. Resulting in a successful adoption for a dog or cat. That is an awesome thing to happen for any animal housed in a shelter. I thank the staff involved in these positive reviews and all that you do to help these fur babies day to day. I get not everyone can be satisfied and there will be a bad review now and again. I read all that was posted here and my jaw dropped in disbelief of how many potential homes for your residents were thrown away. What is a reasonable excuse for any staffing belonging to any kind of organization that could justify snappy responses to customers, any hint of rudeness, impatient with visitors, ignoring them and making them feel unwanted or in the way. This is not the face this facility desires, deserves, or wants to be known as having attitude. The price to be paid for the ignorance of a few is high and how many will pay for it? Lack of donations, adoptions, attention from the public, good staff will go elsewhere, once given a bad reputation the weight it brings will always be carried by the business and by any associates. This needs to be rectified faster than it has been ignored. This facility was funded, built and put into works to ease a burden. I apologize to those who are giving themselves to these animals who so desperately just want to be loved and wanted. I appreciate you and all you do for these beautiful critters. Why is it being tarnished? Someone that has the authority; please take a stand and rectify the cause of these bad experiences. These furry guys desirve the chance to exist. Crudely put; These little guys have had a rough go at owning a human. Last thing they need is something in the way and 'F'-ing up their chances to exist!
