It was good at first then suddenly it went downhill. We were about to adopt the kittens but they suddenly denied our application for a little misunderstanding. We were so excited and bought the supplies already, we put an effort and did everything accordingly but harshly denied us. read more

A huge shout out to Lisa and Alicia of Li'l Roar Cat Rescue!  This little guy has been coming to our porch for 2 or 3 months, so I took him to Lil Roar at Cypress Point to be scanned for a chip/tattoo, and checked to see if he had been neutered (he hadn't).  They did this in the midst of a very busy, stressful move to a larger space just a few doors down from where they are now.  I cannot recommend them enough!  If you're looking to adopt, foster, or just volunteer, they are the place to go!  I learned two new things from them. 1.  Feral cats do not meow.  And... 2.  Transport your pets in the backseat of your vehicle, rather than the cargo section of your SUV.  If you are in a serious accident, the cargo section is seldom checked by emergency personnel. To say the people that run Lil Roar are incredible would be an understatement. I filled out an adoption application and was contacted by their adoption director, Tainah, that same morning. The two kittens we were initially interested in already had a pending adoption so Tainah asked if we'd be interested in looking at other kittens (of course, we were!). When my wife and I saw pics of "the V boys", we were immediately interested. We drove to their foster home where we met Amy. Meeting with her made it even more evident how cherished and cared for each and every cat is by the Lil Roar family. Amy answered all of our questions and gave us a lot of helpful information that new cat moms would need to know. She sent us multiple pics and videos throughout the week which kept us excited and anxious to bring them home. We initially were set on adopting two but when we saw the three together, we knew we couldn't separate them. In addition to Tainah and Amy going above and beyond in regard to communication and info, Lisa was extremely supportive and made sure we had the meds and syringes needed to continue treating one of our boys. Overall, we are blown away by the kindness and selflessness that this organization exudes to make sure their rescues go to great homes. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a feline family member. read more

Hard to explain just how grateful we are for Lil Roar. I did not know any of this existed until it affected out family. We lost our very sweet Eevee (yes, like the Pokemon) and feared the worst after the second day. We would later find out that a neighbor found out a kitten was trapped on her roof when a neighbor took a picture and texted it to her. Lil Roar came all the way from Portsmouth to get her down. They had a special backpack which came in handy since they were using a very tall ladder to get her. They put Eevee in a safe home until they saw our post. I am just so very Thankful. We found a young mama cat at my husband's work, her two 5-week-old kittens, and fostered them for a week before bringing them to LR. We wanted to keep them, but life circustances wouldn't permit us and it was heart-wrenching, as the mama had weasled her way into our hearts fast (he worked to get her to come to him for months before she was pregnant). LR not only took them, but prioritized keeping them together until they could be fostered and adopted, AND, an hour before we left to drop them off, we found ANOTHER cat, unrelated, randomly in our garage! *brain explodes* I texted the founder of the company, somewhat frantic -- because even though this fourth cat was absolutely amazing, we couldn't keep him for the same reasons we couldn't keep the others. They accepted him immediately, and we brought all four to the rescue, where they let us come in and say goodbye and assuaged all of our anxieties. They are such good people and really put the cats' wellbeing first above everything. And, best of all, only two days after dropping off the cats, the fourth kitty is already getting adopted!! The mama and littles have to wait a few weeks, but we are BEYOND overjoyed, and so pleased with LR's efforts an honesty, transparency, and effort they put towards not only keeping all these littles happy and healthy, but at peace not only with people but with other cats. It's... quite honestly, it's amazing. God usually has a tendency to put cats into our lap when He wants us to have them, and while we are sad we couldn't keep these, we are DEFINITELY planning to adopt from LR when He tells us it's time for another (again, life circumstances that would take its OWN book to explain are the only reasons we didn't keep ALL FOUR, because, yes, we would have). Not to mention, they have a No Mama Left Behind strategy which brings such warmth and peace to our hearts, it just makes us want to cry. So many focus on only the kittens, and while all cats matter, it is so wonderful to know the mamas are not forgotten. Lil Roar: thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, from two cat lovers, we appreciate all you do. They were amazing. After my parents found a stray kitten, that didn't look to be more than 3-4 weeks old, in their backyard after a storm, I called Lil Roar and spoke to Lisa. I explained the situation and even though it was late at night, she had me take the kitten to them. They even sent an update the next day to let us know that they found a foster home for the kitten. They are caring and genuinely love animals. I would recommend them to anyone that needed help with a rescued cat or was looking to foster or adopt. read more

I adopted a kitten from Lil Roar Cat Rescue today, and my experience was unbelievably wonderful. The volunteers I met were all very helpful and gave me great advice on taking home my new kitten. I met with them and chose him, and the next day was able to take him home. They are kind enough to offer vaccinations for the cats, as well as neutering and microchipping included in the adoption fee. Lyne is who I spoke with most and she was very helpful in the communication between myself and the Adoption Coordinator, which led to a very smooth adoption process. I graciously give the shelter 5 stars, and if I'm ever in the market for another rescue animal, they're the first place I'll go! I recommend them highly, and all I can say is to go get you a new kitty! read more

Lisa and Lil' Roar Rescue took in my parents cars when they moved to assisted living. We spent weeks ans months trying to find them a new home, foster or no kill shelter. We were about to give up when Lisa said she would take them. I am so impressed with the "Den" in Virginia Beach. I can't wait to visit, volunteer and see these babies adopted.
