I would never recommend anyone to go there for neck or back pain (one mistake could cost a life or cause paralysis). I had called to schedule my appointment and scheduled it for 8:45 am, they told me to arrive 15 mins early for paperwork (standard, no prob). I received a notification late Friday evening saying my appointment was scheduled for 9 am. I was already confused on the different time, so I showed up at 8:35, i filled out the paperwork, then waited, and waited and waited. At 9:18 I was taken back by a chiropractic assistant to go into this office that I was instructed to watch a 7 minute video. It was a waste of time! Then when the video was done, I waited and waited and waited. I finally went back and the doctor and I talked about pains and he said he wanted me to do xrays, no prob as I know this is normal for chiropractors. But there was SO MUCH time I was just sitting by myself waiting. I thought a new patient appointment would be efficient and make me feel like I am cared about but all the excess time spent waiting I was just glad the appointment was free. I am definitely not going to continue care with them based on the experience I had.

During a visit on 01/27/2020, I was told they wanted to adjust my hips. I was not aware beforehand that a drop-table technique would be used. Within the next couple of days, my symptoms returned and I lost sensation again. I went back and explained what had happened, but the additional side-posture adjustments did not help. I gave treatment two more chances and experienced no improvement. My biggest concern was that after my condition worsened, I did not feel that the office addressed the issue in a way that helped me. I left feeling disappointed, unheard, and without answers. This is my honest experience. I did not get the outcome I was seeking, and I would not return.

I was initially diagnosed with metatarsalgia by an orthopedic doctor. He prescribed me foot exercises and metatarsal pads and neither of these ideas was helpful. I then went to a physical therapist and completed all prescribed exercises and this gave me no relief. It was then that I came to Acupuncture Health Center to see Dr. Huan Ma. I was skeptical of acupuncture but willing to try anything to see if I could avoid getting cortisone injections and/or surgery to resolve my nerve pain. The results were impressive. By the 5th acupuncture visit, my nerve pain was decreased by 90%, and it was totally resolved by the 8th visit. Near the end of these sessions, I mentioned to Dr. Ma that I needed to have toe spur surgery due to pain between my 4th and 5th toe due to a toe spur. I had been evaluated by an orthopedic doctor for this a few years ago and was told that this was the only treatment option. Dr. Ma informed me that he could resolve the toe spur pain through acupuncture. I decided to give this a try and it was resolved in another 8 visits. We put together a treatment plan, milestones and goals included, with an understanding that if things haven't improved in 3 months, we'd need a neck MRI. They connected with my insurance to find out what would be covered, and what I can expect to pay. No surprise billing. Unfortunately, my second visit resulted in a serious and medically documented injury. During that appointment, my lower back was adjusted in a way that immediately led to severe complications. Shortly afterward, I was unable to have bowel movements, and my condition rapidly worsened to the point that I had to go to the ER. I was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with a perforated colon, requiring a week-long hospitalization. After being discharged, I contacted Dr. Knutson directly. He acknowledged the situation and told me he had informed Dr. Alex Twenge, DC, and that corrective care would be provided. Despite those assurances, no meaningful or appropriate follow-up care occurred. I have text message documentation confirming these communications. This experience raised serious concerns for me about the standard of care and the lack of accountability afterward. The physical, emotional, and personal impact has been significant, including time lost with my family that I cannot get back. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to carefully consider their options and proceed with extreme caution before seeking treatment here.
