Well, long story short it got paved the week befor Thanksgiving. Thats to late in the year. Half the driveway came out like crap. I called with my concerns and was polite and patient the whole time. He said it was the quality of the ashfalt and sometimes that happened. He offered to seal coat for no charge later the following year. I was satisfied with that. After a few months into summer I sent him a text asking if he was still going to do it . He said he had not forgot about me. Never showed. Be careful! He came to look at the sidewalk, gave me a reasonable quote, and the sidewalk job was completed a week later. Toby and his crew worked hard all day and did an excellent job, leaving us with a beautiful new sidewalk. We have hired him to come back in about a month to reseal our driveway, and I am sure Toby and his crew will do a great job with that also. These are good people who work hard and do excellent work!

So since he did this I will tell what transpired. I asked him if he could cut shorter after he completed the first cut. My family and neighbors agreed that it did not look good. However, I did not tell him that because I did not want to offend him. This was right after cut. I nicely texted him and asked if next time he could go shorter. He said ok. He then texted me on the day of the next cut and I just reminded him by saying ok thx and short. I then received a text he sent to someone of a screenshot of our conversation calling me a Stupid C --t. I told him that he sent the text to me " obviously by accident". I clearly was offended and it was completely unwarranted. Of course then stopped my service with him. I now just received a long text from him saying derogatory statements about me for texting him those two brief request. He said I was ignorant, rude, and disrespectful by me asking him about it being shorter. Claimed the two text were continuous (lying) only the two and one like I said was a reply to him and not even a sentence. He then proceeded to tell me to pick up my dog shit because he is a professional. Mind you I have an extremely small back yard with three dogs. I never met him in person. He would let me know roughly the day and then on that time he was coming. This was done when I was at work. Again, only twice. The only reason twice is because he did the lawn the second time before I saw his crass text.I never dealt with this kind of behavior from someone not only works for a business, but a family owned business. He needs to get his anger in check. I hope he does not continue to harass me.

High Falls Tree Service came into my periphery due to the incompetence of another tree contractor…read more The initial dealings were a bit hairy, but ultimately High Falls did a good job. They were contracted to remove four mammoth poplar trees that bordered my property line. Naturally I informed our neighbors that the trees would be removed. Initially our project was met with resistance, as Mrs. D had an established shade garden that was sure to be compromised by the tree removal. However, Mr. D was ecstatic with our news. He was sick of cleaning up the endless broken twigs and leaves that the trees shed -- constantly. They spoke at length with the contractor and agreed to allow accessibility to their driveway and lawn. Then contractor number one backed out. (You can read about the whole affair under my review of Ted Hosmer Lawn & Landscape). They voided their contract and had us deal directly with the subcontractor, High Falls Tree Service. We were none too pleased. Mr. and Mrs. D were livid! They took it as a personal insult and refused to grant permission to their property unless they personally met with Erik of High Falls Tree Services. Erik was kind enough to come out and spend a significant amount of time explaining the procedure and answering copious questions. I assured Erik that since the D's were going to be most inconvenienced it was acceptable to me that he communicate with them and gave them permission to scheduling - or any other decisions - as long as it did not adversely impact my bill. Due to the freakish weather we experienced, scheduling of the tree removal became a bit wonky. Again, we were not pleased, but trusted High Falls would eventually get it done. Mr. and Mrs. D started calling and emailing Erik demanding answers. I kind of felt sorry for the guy, but figured the more they pester him, the sooner he'd get the job done. Furthermore, it was one less thing I'd have to worry about, since they were on the case. During the two days of work, Mr. D was outside "supervising" nearly the entire time: making certain that our properties were well-protected and fairly clean after completion. We chose not to get the stumps ground because it would impact the gardens too much. Mr. D was not pleased at the trunk cuttings (not flush enough to the soil), so Erik told him he would return and cut them shorter. From an objective viewpoint, they were perfectly acceptable as is. Ultimately, the D's were pleased with the job. He said Erik and his crew were professional and met his expectations. I would definitely hire High Falls Tree Service again, but more importantly, so would Mr. and Mrs. D!
