As a parent I had to think quick and come up with a resolution. So, I said ok son we have to look for an apartment off campus. He said that several of his friends were freaking out and that they felt lost as they also received similar emails. Give me a second so I can search the web for living arrangements I told him. So many places, so many five bedroom, four bedrooms.... I was lost myself. That was until I came upon offcampus.Osu.edu. The first place that I saw within our budget I clicked on and immediately saw from the drop down menu "parents". Clicked on it, read the passage, and honestly teared up when reading it because I said my husband and I need a place like this for our son. They had a slogan and it read "who you rent from matters more than where you live". And those words spoke to my heart and said "Home". I reached out to "Venice Properties" and spoke to, Anna. She was kind, thorough, and after me making multiple calls she remained responsive, and truly dedicated to her craft of initiating care, support, and understanding. On this day! Today! My husband and our son filled out the applications and on this evening, today! Were approved. I don't say this lightly but Anna again and again thank you as who we communicate with during a busy day also matters. And Anna took care of all our needs and we are thrilled to meet her in person and work with her for the duration of our son's first apartment endeavor. Huge shoutout to Anna and Venice Properties.

To start, I signed a lease to park my jeep Cherokee in the lower parking lot! I was approved by the building before driving 10 hours from New York! I pulled in on move in day and they tell me my car is too big. They looked at me like I had fifteen heads and that I was never supposed to be here. I had a lease signed to pay a monthly fee. I made them cancel after repeated arguments with Rebecca. Oh don't even get me started on her. Another issue is that the HVAC unit is correlated with the smoke alarm. Every time the smoke alarm goes off the HVAC goes off. They never told this on move in and I had to put in numerous requests and they maybe took 5 days to come and I have no air condition during the month of August. Getting to the later months in 2023 and nobody in the management would respond to phone calls or emails. It felt like I was just living in a building with other tenants and had no supervision or anyone to fix anything! My air condition unit has broke down 10 times where they have to call in an outside company to help fix this. They have came into my room so much that's it's normal having them there and my girlfriend even knows there names! Now let me get to management! The ALL TIME WORST! They couldn't give less of a fuck about there tenant. Once that lease is signed you're just the next victim of this completely corrupt billion dollar business. The manager of the building quit during the middle of the school year and nobody is left to run the building. When you go down to the front desk you are answered by students your age who can't give you answers! The told me corporate just comes into the building every so often to make sure everyone's paying rent! My washer dryer unit was an absolute mess! I have a handicapped unit and they gave me a 2 in 1 washer dryer. This lead to numerous complications and the machine had to be replaced for two separate machines. Luckily, when they replaced the machine I was there to help them because they brought the maintenance staff and a girl from the front desk! No disrespect to those people but this building is absolutely terrible and I wish you could give negative stars!

The staff encourages residents to write a review during move-in which is great to avoid realizing…read morethere are any problems. I wanted to see what issues others were having beyond what I hear in the elevator and it seems most of the reviews online are written very soon after moving in, if they live here at all. NOISE Despite being far below capacity, it isn't quiet. You will always know where your upstairs neighbor is in their apartment and when people are in the hall. I've been to cheaper rentals in the area without this problem and assumed it would be quiet when they said it was quiet during the tour. When other construction in this area has dealt with this issue effectively, I can only speculate why they decided to not dampen noise between apartments during construction. QUALITY There are frequent problems with this property, including the elevator being inoperable for extended periods. After having property damaged by construction in my storage unit hanging drywall, I was told by staff that construction could not have been in my storage unit despite drywall dust being on everything and new drywall hanging in the corner. There was a horrendous smell in the apartment for weeks and at first, staff claimed it was sewer gas and later staff discovered something was in the line. When I asked the construction crew what was causing the smell, they would not comment on what was stuck in the line. Commonly the first attempt to fix an issue fails, so staff end up having to come back repeatedly which has resulted in me giving up calling anymore for issues. For instance, a bathroom door would open when locked and I had to adjust it after maintenance fixed the issue. I should have seen it as a warning when staff told me if I knew what I was doing I could go ahead and fix things. This leads to issues like the dishwasher which regularly decides to stop working and having to develop a workaround of trying different cycles until one of them will run when I am unwilling to fix the problems. If you tour, pay attention and you can see construction issues. I suggest resisting the excuse Lane Lofts is still under construction. RESIDENTS/WORKERS Dog waste is a common problem. There is nothing quite like stepping into a puddle of warm urine in the elevator. One would hope it was the dog, but as a staff member joked about the urine frequently in the garage it isn't unimaginable that it could be either a dog or the construction workers. Bags of dog feces around is a problem that ebbs and flows. If you are allergic or do not like dogs, be aware that dog-related issues, including them jumping on you, will be common. SUMMARY Lane Lofts has not been open that long. Every week there seems to be some significant issue living here. I wish it was practical to share all the issues to save someone else from making this mistake. There is no genuine concern by staff about the quality of living here from things like persistent odors, accessibility issues from elevators and their security systems failing, or issues with construction damaging property. They are all polite, but this will only suffice for so long. This is not the facade of luxury living advertised, it seems to be more of the traditional student housing that one has come to expect around a campus. If I were given the option, I would move out ASAP despite the huge expense and pain of moving.

The paint was never fixed and the cabinets were fixed after months and several work orders. I put in several work orders to have the toilet paper rod be installed instead of on the ground where I found it when I moved in and it was installed months later and crookedly. The same situation goes for the towel rod. The mirror had rust stains all over it and was mounted to the wall so it was impossible for me to clean. The shower drain was so slowly that every shower quickly turned into a bath. The airflow was horrible, so there is no point in getting a one bedroom if you cannot even close the door to the bedroom without experiencing extreme temperature differences. The shuttle would randomly be cancelled often. The hallway smelled like something new every day and somehow it was never good--appalling. I vacuumed for hours after moving in and still picked up pet hair for months to come--I never had an animal in the apartment. The laundry room was disgusting and flooded often. People complain of stolen packages often. There are car break-ins in the neighborhood often. The pool is closed for over 75% of the year. To add insult to injury, there was no dishwasher either. After overpaying about $1200 a month in just rent, there are added monthly fees of about $100+ monthly. I would advise to NOBODY to ever live here. I wish I could give 0 stars. Horrible.
