There's always a steal! Stumbled on this spot whilst on a trip and was amazed by the selection!

Good place for visitors to pick up things that they forgot to bring from home especially clothing items. It's also a great place to pick up unusual snacks, and party games. The selection of items was geared towards non-residents...never saw such a large selection of toys and games at a TJ Maxx/Marshalls. And there really wasn't much of a designer section that a lot of other TJ Maxxes have...this was all about providing quality but disposable items that you won't cry about if you 'forget' to bring it home. Stop by early on your trip if you need clothing items, kitchen supplies, gourmet but discounted coffee, and kids you want to entertain. It was pretty crowded on a Friday, so the word is out. There were plenty of cashiers, so standing in line wasn't very long (I really like the queuing systems at TJ Maxxes...one line...and you go to the next available cashier). read more

After the experience with Ross in Soth Lake Tahoe, I don't have high hopes on my way to the TJ Maxx. It gave me a surprise! It is not bad. The storefront is ten times better than Ross in South Lake Tahoe. The inside looks very good (it is better than some of the TJ Maxx in the Sacramento or San Francisco Bay Area). The merchandise looks presentable inside the store. I have found lots of items I want to bring them home! Lol! I ended up purchasing a few things I like very much. The price is very reasonable too! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I came here with a friend to come shop for a trip we're going on and we were RUDELY interrupted. We were confused on an item and were trying to figure out what it was. We see it's a pen and start writing on our hand to test the quality of it. OUT OF NO WHERE this incredibly rude worker interrupts us and questions if we were now going to purchase the item since we've already "used" it. (keep in mind this product has clearly already been mess with and was missing the flower petals) My friend and I were confused and hesitated to reply. We responded with informing her we weren't sure yet. She clearly was upset with our response and scuffed as she rolled her eyes and walked away frustrated. i visited this store on may 3rd around 5pm. all i can say is majority of the shoppers that time were of hispanic/indigenous decent, for every single shopper i noticed there was a staff member following them which noticeably made the customers uncomfortable which is why i noticed in the first place. not only were their white customers acting sketchy but they were not being followed AT ALL. i pointed it out as i was walking out of the store there was a white lady looking at the bags, when i was looking at the bags there were two workers around me. obviously its the WHITE management/coworkers that make these types of disgusting rules. some workers were Rasa and looked uncomfortable watching their own because it's WRONG. i HAD to come here for some towels and i wanted to shop around, never again will i come here. this place has A LOT of staff but to only follow people of HISPANIC/INDIGENOUS decent. Tj maxx, you really think hispanic/indigenous senior citizens are going to steal? Best TJ Maxx experience ever!! We had the pleasure of meeting the store manager, Scott A., and the cashier, Emily. I was interested in the false eyelashes and Emily mentioned they have the magnetic ones in stock. Scott was really knowledgeable and helped me find them. Even gave me advice about his wife's experience with the magnetic lashes, not to be emotional with them on. We stopped Scott to praise his store tidiness, cleanliness and friendly staff. Whoa damn. So usually I'm pretty impartial to department stores; I find that most chain stores like TJ Maxx, Ross, Target, Marshall's, Etc., are all essentially the same inside and out in regards to merchandise and quality. The keyword here is USUALLY. My friend and I came here to look for a dress for our night out, and we were super jazzed when we saw the selection. Every dang TJ Maxx I have ever been to is usually incredibly picked over and had a scant selection of items -- it is a rarity to ever find anything good in a TJ Maxx. This location however, blew me away. So not only is it incredibly well-stocked and neat, it carries designer items for 50% less than retail value. This was the super cute TJ Maxx we ended up stopping into on our recent Tahoe trip. I really loved that this store was fairly orderly and had a nice selection of men's wear. Much more than I was expecting. I ended up finding a really cute shirt that was in the boys section and wonderfully on clearance for $6 and the honey ended up finding a hoodie (the main reason we came in). I honestly don't tend to visit TJ Maxx often but may change my tune after finding such a nice selection at this location. It was also right next to BevMo, which made dropping by a breeze! The service was quite friendly (one girl sporting the most fabulous beehive hairdo) and I would absolutely come back when in the area. I think in a pinch this TJ Maxx might be a lifesaver! read more

This is a really little one with not much selection. I didn't buy anything, we were just at the bakery across the street and decided to check TJ out. This T.J. Maxx rocks in South Lake Tahoe. My reasoning is they carry brand name make up such as Anastacia, Mac, Make Up Forever, Kat Von D, BITE, etc. I also found different type of Make Up brushes. They had Vince Camuto Shoes and a lot of nice things. There are not many stores here, so if you don't Ski or snowboard nor gamble, and have Cabin fever, this is one past time that will for sure be worth your time. read more

Went with fam to sit the AC and we needed one item. This is a pretty happening place in Lake Tahoe. Good selection of things from household, clothes, water bottles, even some exotic foods. There was plenty of cahiers and the store was well stocked and organized. I imagine depending on what you need this is an inexpensive alternative to the other stores in Tahoe. Tj Maxx is a great addition to South Lake Tahoe! With no shopping in town what's so ever, I go to Tj Maxx pretty often. A city girl like me in a small town, mosdef would make Tj Maxx their go to place to shop! I appreciate this particular one so much! I may even call it love at first sight! I don't always leave here with some great finds, but that never discourages me from shopping here. The workers here are nice and helpful. It's pretty neat and organized. They tend to keep everything in the right places. Makes shopping easier. Some Tj Maxx stores can be such a headache going into, but not this one! They do a good job at tidying up! Especially, with all the people rummaging through here. I love buying bedding from Tj Maxx! Great quality and great prices! Love all of their decor and throw pillows too! I've been wanting to check this place out while visiting Tahoe and I'm glad I got the chance before I left. I came in to browse around and made my way through most of the store. I like all the cute things home goods they had to offer and they also had a good selection of women's jackets. I finally made my way to the mens jeans and was happy to find my husband a pair of 7 bootcut jeans and a pair of AE khaki shorts. My total purchase came to $46 with tax included and it was a really great buy. Who would've thought I was going to find exactly what I've been needing on my vacation! Awesomeness! This T.J Maxx has great finds! Michael Kors purses everywhere- even on clearance too! As well as great makeup brands- NARS, MAC, ABH, Too Faced etc. Based on that I would have given 5 stars despite the fact that they have a smaller store- If you're from the bay, in comparison it is about 60% of the size of a regular T.J Maxx store. However, I had to give three stars because of Ashley at the Jewelry counter. First of all, it was rather apparent that I was being watched while I looked at the purses, even though there were other women looking at the purses as well who were not being watched in the way that I was. A What really got me though was when I made my purchase, she asked me with snark, "Where did you put the jacket that you had so I can find it and go put it away later?" Referring to a jacket I had in my cart that I decided I decided I didn't want and right before checking out I had handed it to my husband to put away where I had got it from. But does that even matter? As someone who has worked and managed a retail department store in the past, I found it appalling that an employee would find it appropriate to ask a customer this. You're working retail- finding and putting away items that customers leave behind in your department is your JOB. read more

SHOPPING for SUNGLASSES: I came in here from out of town looking for some sunglasses. I ended up buying some Calvin Klein sunglasses with an aviator design for $19.99. They were reduced in price for sure, but I didn't mean to spend that much on a pair of sunglasses. It was because the cheaper sunglasses did not look good on me (and I'm skeptical if they would look good on anybody). I wish they had more of a selection. GLOVES: My friends came in with me to look for gloves for children for the snow. Unfortunately they didn't have any, which I was surprised since it's February and winter and in South Lake Tahoe. STAFF: One other person was checking out so a girl helped me at the very end. She already knew what my total would be even before scanning the item for the final price. She handled the sunglasses very delicately and handed them to me and said so they don't get scratched. I thought that was nice of her. Having forgotten to pack a sweater (stupid mistake) for my recent Tahoe trip, I figured I'd come to TJ Maxx to look for a cheap sweater that'll keep me nice and warm during the weekend, but was left pretty dissatisfied and a bit cold. This place just opened up and is a life-saver out in here in Tahoe. I got a great-looking faux leather jacket from Guess, two sweater/jackets and a shirt for around $100. T.J. Maxx gets new shipments in regularly, so styles stay fresh. Much preferred shopping here than getting robbed at the boutiques closer to the casinos. I purchased my wife a suitcase for Christmas. She used it once and the entire suitcase came apart, two wheels broke off and was terribly made. When trying to exchange it with my receipt they stated they don't even sell that brand and they don't take back used luggage. The whole time the manager was acting like I was trying to get one over on them. I wasn't requesting a refund, I wanted an exchange on a real piece of crap suitcase. I will never shop at TJ Maxx again and I highly advise never to purchase a suitcase there. read more

You think shopping there is bad? Working there is even worse. They rip off their employees. Pay them the bare minimum. Keeps everyone working part time so they don't have to provide their employees with benefits. They favor big time. Younger employees are treated unfairly and pushed around. Coordinators stand around and do nothing and push their work on everyone else. They accuse one of their employees of stealing every other week and tjmaxx is nothing but a big gossip pot. They talk bad about other employees and bad mouth every customer that walks in. Very unprofessional. They are known for not being able to keep new employees because they always end up quitting. Was the worst job I've ever had. That's why I quit. read more

The reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because there is no trash can anywhere near the store. There should be one outside the front doors, and there is a sign that says "please dispose of your garbage" BUT WHERE?! There are no trash cans whatsoever! read more
