Unfortunately hurricane Irene came through the area on the same day and ruined our plans. Furthermore, it caused mass power outages in the state and unsafe driving conditions for anyone to leave their homes that day. While the caterers and the party hall all graciously provided refunds because of the unfortunate and unpreventable cancellation of my event, Mr. Gavin retained all of my money without providing any services. His only response to me was that "he is not in the business of giving refunds." Please use caution if you are considering using this company for your event, they are currently under investigation by the Consumer Protection Division of the Maryland Attorney General's Office as a result of their suspect business practices.

My baby shower was cancelled due the CoronaVirus (as the entire US and world is being directed to cancel large gatherings) and when I told them my event was cancelled due to the government and CDC recommendations, they replied and said that since I did not cancel within 60 days, I owned them the balance in full immediately ($430). How dare they demand another cent from me?! Who would pay another dime for a service that will not be rendered due to cancellation beyond anyone's control! Many businesses are adjusting to this CoronaVirus pandemic, even the airlines, so this company should be no different. It doesn't matter what the contract says - the contract becomes null and void once the federal government issues directives and mandated cancellation of events. I understand this is small business (which is the excuse they tried to use) but the whole world is suffering now - not just them. In fact, it should be incumbent of them to refund my deposit in good faith due to this act of God that is out all our control -- given that a service has not and will not be provided. They refused to refund my $150 deposit as well. They caused me so much mental anguish, anxiety, and depression over how they responded. I'm willing to counter legally if need be. I'm so distraught and want to warn everyone of their foul business practices.
