I walked in today wanting to switch from AT&T and to upgrade my phone. I honestly wasn't expecting to be helped in a timely manner or to actually switch that day and walk out with my new phone. (I guess I'm just used to AT&T's service.) Not only did they make sure to help me within 10 minutes of me walking in, they got me transferred with new phone in hand in less than a half hour. I was very impressed! Daniel helped to make it a quick transition despite my old phone being unable to download the T-Mobile app, AT&T's website and in addition to me not knowing my AT&T passkey code or account #. I walked into this T-mobile store this week looking to ask about upgrading my family's phones. There were 5 or 6 T-mobile employees there and no customers. A female employee asked what I was looking for and proceeded to behave as rudely as she could toward me, talking over me, repeating her answers loudly and with a lot of attitude. I don't know what her problem was, but she really seemed to resent my questions. I had to ask them because T-mobile has some very complicated promotions for phone upgrades and they are confusing. There were plenty of other employees standing around who probably could have handled my questions without the attitude and the nastiness. But they just looked on or at their own phones. I am a longtime T-mobile customer with a family plan and numerous lines. I was considering locking in another 2 years in order to get upgraded phones. But I don't want to be treated this way and will be shopping around with other carriers now. Ugh. read more

I love T-Mobile and their services, but I've had so many frustrating experiences at their stores (T-Mobile owned, not authorized dealers). I have been to T-Mobile stores across the country and always run into the same problems. The main issue is how incredibly long most transactions take at the store. Even for pretty simple fixes like switching out a sim card. That is if you even get to the front of the line to speak with an associate without dying of boredom and frustration with the wait times. I didn't have to wait in line that long this time, maybe 15 minutes, but my simple transaction (getting my micro sim exchanged for a nano sim) took most of 45 minutes with all sorts of errors and problems interrupting the process the whole time. Aside from that, they exorbitantly overprice the sim cards. Honestly they should be free, they cost T-Mobile next to nothing. Considering I had a t-mobile sim card already, recharging me upwards of $20 to just replace it with another t-mobile sim card. That doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do to loyal customers, especially since you can buy those sim cards off a 3rd party retailer online for cents on the Dollar and activate them yourself online or over the phone (my situation was urgent, so I had no time to wait for a sim card to be shipped to me). They added all sorts of fees and nuisances which I honestly would have put up a fight about if I hadn't just spent so much fruitless time there and was getting so frustrated I would have probably just told them to keep the damn phone if only it meant I could get out of there. read more

Apparently we're not the only people who have had problems with Anaïs! We were transferring service from AT&T and Verizon, and she told us that T-Mobile would be able to pay off my husband's phone before we signed up. So we got everything set up - we signed up with T-Mobile, even though she initially quoted us the wrong price, even though it was going to cost more than what we were currently paying, and even though they added an extra $10 charge at the last minute. We spent the weekend getting his payoff information and getting my phone unlocked and came back on Monday. Lo and behold, Anaïs tells us, whoops, she made a mistake! They're not going to pay off my husband's phone, now that we've signed up, and he's going to have to pay T-Mobile for it instead of paying Verizon for it. Anaïs tells us she'll see what her manager can do to soften the blow. Now, why the blow is only being softened and not totally removed is beyond me, since this is her fault and hers alone. They offered us to remove the $10 BS charge they'd added at the last minute (how generous!) and give us a credit not even equaling one month of service. They wouldn't budge. Anaïs, here's what I'd propose instead: Since YOU messed up, how about they bill $20 out of YOUR paycheck every month for the next two years? So, of course, we will be switching carriers again. Thanks for wasting our time, guys, and T-Mobile attempts to bill us one single cent for the four days of service (during which, by the way, my husband hasn't had data), we'll be taking it to the Better Business Bureau and the Oak Park Chamber of Commerce, you frauds. UPDATE: We just got charged $130 despite having to switch service. I'll update later as to whether or not they resolve this in anything approaching an acceptable manner. read more

We've had good experiences with their corporate customer service, but the retail experience feels like a different company. We've endured mistakes and misinformation from this particular store, most recently a surprise upgrade fee and a failure to explain that most of our old phone's trade-in value would be broken up over 24 months. Shame on us for going there again, thinking this is the time we'll get a clear explanation of plans and promotions. Looking at reviews of other Chicago-area stores, seems their Michigan Ave flagship is the only one that can be counted on to care, and to know anything. read more

this is literally the best t-mobile store in Oak Park area ,the manager is very laid back and helpfull. The store is clean, the sales rep Lee is the best tmobile staff i have ever met. I have been a tmobile customer for years, but when I was served in this store, I felt nothing like the experiences I had in others. Lee was very helpful and humorous. He doesn't push me to buy and he explains all the promotions and features patiently, I would honestly buy whatever he tells me to buy because I feel i'm getting helped there. Switching from iPhone to Android can be scary. So I lucked out and got Luis G at the T-Mobile store in Oak Park to hold my hand and walk me though my first Android purchase. I landed on a T-Mobile REVVL and am pretty happy. Luis walked me through the basics and even a few of the more advanced features. Best of all he treated me like a person and could tell what I wanted without trying to upsell me on another model. This took all of the intimidation out of what could have been an intimidating experience. All in all, he was a great guide for this Android newbie. Thanks! read more

My children are constantly pushing me into the twenty first century and updated my phone this Christmas. No, I didn't have a flip phone, but it was a bit dated. I think it's amazing that I even use a phone. The cup and string method were just fine for... But I diverge. This particular TMobile store is definitely a hit or miss, which really isn't their fault. If you happen to walk in when they're not busy, which isn't often; you can be serviced and happily out the door quickly. However, if you arrive with the masses, then there's the wait, (something that Americans do rather poorly). I hit it right on today. Two people in front of me. My wait was short and the young man who assisted me was pleasant and knew exactly what to. Does TMobile need to hire more good folk? Perhaps -Sat afternoons are peak hours, so expect to wait. Hiring a dozen people to work the weekends isn't the answer. We just need to learn to be patient! The atmosphere has changed. It reminds me of a MAC store, this is ok. Continuity among the tech industry is good - associating a certain look with like products is good advertisement. read more

IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BUY SOMETHING, THEN STAY AWAY. The only reason I went here was to verify that my phone was covered by the insurance I pay - my wife and I recently swapped phones, and when I called customer service, they told me I had to go into an official brick-and-mortar store to finalize the changeover. The staff were rude, impatient, and didn't want to deal with me as I was not spending money. The first lady kept arguing that I didn't need to be there, ignoring my replies of "I'm just following directions from the Tmobile customer phone service rep". So, when I eventually replied 'If it's too much trouble for you...', she directed me to her boss. Slightly better. At least he knew his password to enter the system and check my account (unlike the girl). He managed to do the simple changeover - he simply had to retrieve my IMEI from behind the battery and enter it into the system. HE COULDN'T EVEN DO THAT properly! He pulled the battery out before switching off the phone. Ahem, that is kinda important to the safety of the phone...... However, after switching on the phone, he then proceeded to update ALL the apps in the Play store without asking. Three days later, my phone is still sluggish, updating cr*p that I don't want, and I have to go through these apps INDIVIDUALLY in order to change the settings. He claimed that it was better for the health of the phone - but this is after pulling the battery without powering down the phone!!! Don't go here, unless you want to buy a new contract and don't require any human interaction. In fact, don't go here at all. There are other Tmobile stores that uphold the quality of Tmobile. This crowd deserve to be selling stolen phones at a flea market. read more

My friends and I love this store! Golden tip: Ask for the store manager. Eric was the manager in charge when we walked in late last month (Dec '07). He got us unbelievable deals. He knew every detail about the plans, phones, accessories, and technologies. I mean, my friends and I are engineer nerds, and Eric just utterly impressed us. He was patient. We spent about four hours there 'cos we, like little girls on Christmas morning, were so awestruck by those snazzy gadgets that we just had to play with everything. Eric stayed with us way past his shift. We walked out with six killer phones (incl. Blackberry Pearl, Razr, T-Mobile Shadow and Samsung Katalyst) - all except the Shadow are free after rebates; the Shadow costs $50 after rebate. Would've cost much, much more if we were to deal with any of the employees. Eric put us on two excellent call plans (incl. one that wasn't on the brochure!); a month of unlimited internet data, and gave us 50% discount on all accessories including 1G memory cards. He even threw in a car charger for the Shadow as a bonus gift. Two weeks later we went back for an exchange of phones. The sales guy was very helpful and got us what we needed fairly quickly. Overall they're not bad, and I am way happier with T-Mobile than I was with U.S. Cellular. This store, I would say, should really be about 3 and 1/2 tars though. The T-Mobile location on Lake Street road in Bloomingdale has unprofessional service. First visit was due to the signal in my home. My phone calls were being dropped all the time I asked the two girls if they can help with the matter. They said there was nothing they can due. When I went to another location they told me they can give me a device that can help with the signal which in fact did help. Second visit to the lake Street location was to cancel the internet service to a tablet I had purchased for my son. Again the two girls said they can't cancel the internet on the tablet and that I would have to call T-Mobile. When I called T-Mobile they said I could have had this done in any tmobile store... read more

If I could give 10 stars to the GREAT personel I would! I have had some major 'network' issues and the manager at the store (Shannon) has been nothing short of perfection. She is crazy knowledgable and beyond patient. I have spent several hours in that store, over a period of months, and she is always willing to help and work for me through customer service. I like going to the same person, who knows the complete picture, although I feel like her stalker! I just wish my network issues would get resolved because to be honest, right now, the ONLY reason I still have T-Mobile is this store and their customer service! IF it wasn't for Shannon and her understanding I would have been long gone to another carrier. *UPDATE* Shannon still rocks but I will miss her as my network issues never got resolved and I now LOVE my SPRINT service!!! read more

My iPhone 7 Plus speaker & mic stopped working. I'd been paying insurance on the phone. I contacted T-Mobile (on a different phone because mine wasn't working) and they agreed to send me out a replacement and they shipped to the store. I went to pick it up and Anthony refused to exchange it because there was a "hairline crack" in my phone. It was not a crack. It was the tiniest scratch that I couldn't even tell was there until he said something. They had me leave with my broken phone, even though my new phone was sitting in a box right in front of me. They would not exchange it, even though again I'd been paying insurance on it. Then, Anthony suggested I call T-mobile at home for more help...uhhh, did you forget that my phone is broken? I left and came back later. This visit, not only did they say there was a hairline crack but that I had wear and on the sides phone (that I always kept in a case). I told them is was just dirty from dust getting in the case and rubbed it off. Then, suddenly they said "oh, ok it's just the crack then." So, they were about to refuse my phone because it had dust on it too? Incompetent. I went home and buffed the scratch out of the phone screen - because it was not a crack. I took it back the next day but they dug their heels in and refused it again, even after the manager said that if I buffed it out and brought it back they would take it. Simply, the employees did not want to admit they were wrong. Lesson here: go to a different T-Mobile store where they will actually be helpful. Another cell phone agent agreed that this store is being ridiculous. Here's the real deal: they wanted me to file an insurance claim to their 3rd party insurance over the crack (that is no longer a crack) instead of the real problem of a broken speaker and mic. I have been a customer of T Mobile at this location for 12 years. During my last 2 visits I've experience a lack of respect and concern, so needless to say I will not be returning or referring other customers as I've happily done in the past. There's nothing worse than spending money at a place where customer representatives become so familiar that they cross the line from professionalism to disrespect. Mother's day I purchase the 2 for 1 Galaxy 8 phones, recently one began to malfunction. I took it in and it they ordered another phone for me alerting me that sometime refurbished phones are sent as replacements instead of new ones. I was instructed to send the old phone back through UPS, but was unable to within the time frame due to emergency family travel. During the time I was away the newly acquired phone began to malfunction as well. So, upon return I contacted T mobile and requested that this time a new phone be sent. Today, I arrived at the store with the both malfunctioning phones. Anais says we have been trying to reach you, you took a phone you should not have she said accusingly! I replied that I didn't know anything about taking a phone and that I was there to pick up and return a phone. Immediately I didn't like her tone. I'll be with you in a minute she said and walked away. I waited as the customers before me were seen by other resp and soon it was my turn and she was the one to call me over. Once again she accused me of taking a phone, which I later discovered another rep gave to me to return by UPS, but that it in fact was supposed to be returned by the store. Then, she pulled the phone out of the box and still in an aggressive tone asked "was the phone was like this when you brought it in?" My reply was how ever it is, is how it was, Why?" She said it's cracked and you're gonna have to pay for it she said and pay the five fifty. I said the phone has been in the box in my car the entire time and how ever it is how it was when I brought it in. She said, no it wasn't! I replied, You really need to watch how you're talking to me. You're being very accusatory and it doesn't feel good. I said if the phone is cracked, it was cracked when I brought it in and the new phone was ordered. Is there a problem with the way it was processed or something. Is that why there was a $5 charge and should it have been something different, I asked. Yeah, it was processed under warranty and not the insurance. I said then that's your mistake, I pay for insurance and it should have processed correctly, so now what kind of charges are you talking about, I asked. The full price of the phone she says $550 plus, five fifty she said again. What five fifty I asked $5.50. Yes she replied. I said well I need to talk to someone about this, where is the manager? Manny was the name she'd called earlier. He's not here she says, but she calls him and never mentions that I'd like to talk to him. She says " She's here and proceeded to ask other questions. Then another familiar employee comes over and inquires about me bringing back the phone. this is when I discover that he was the one that mistakingly gave me the first return to drop off at UPS. She accuses him, the ways it wasn't me, I ask was it you and she says yes it was, because I saw you give it to her. My head is spinning!!! Then repeats that the rep that processed the return would have seen the crack and processed it correctly. I once again replied that the phone had not been taken out of the box and that it would be difficult to crack a phone through the box and that the rep should have processed it correctly the first time. All this time she's doing the final transfer, having me check transferred date, etc. Then she leaves me at the counter and goes to the back of the store on her phone. After a few minutes I ask are you done with me. She replies I gave you the phone I though you knew. I read her name tag and left! This entire encounter was more than I ever care to experience in place I spend my money. Won't happen again and I'll be sure to make my colleagues and neighbors aware of the kind of treatment they can now expect from this location. I mentioned Luis early. During the prior pick up of the first phone I experienced a rudeness that was uncomfortable and was given my product to leave the store without a bag when another rep said " oh, here let me get a bag for you. I thanked them and made a mental note to try to avoid having another encounter like it. I usually walk in smiling and I speak to everyone, as at one time or another they all have assisted me, but now I prefer to travel elsewhere or to change services and probably will after this has all been resolved. read more

5 Stars just does not do this location justice! The staff is always amazing at helping people. I don't to much care for the manager (White, chunky monkey with short black hair), because she isn't approachable and always speaks as if she doesn't want to assist anyone but Candice and the guy I lovingly nicknamed 'baldy' are as sweet as pie and always willing to go above and beyond for their customers. I came here Wednesday morning to buy headphones to my iPhone , ever since I entered this store my impression was really bad ! I work directly with clients and I cannot imagine not to say hi to client when they enter my salon , let them know I know they are in and I will be with them as soon as I'm done with other clients, did not happen in this store , two sales people working at this time totally ignored me did not say hi or whatever when I tried to make eye contact one of them totally ignored me and turn back his face ! I came in and could barely tell if there was a main desk or who was working there. No one looked at me, greeted me, or said anything, even though I stood there like I needed help. I should say that there seemed to be two employees and five customers, several who seemed to be together. So not that busy. One male employee seemed to be just cracking jokes with customers, another lady never looked up or turned around and was engrossed with a customer's phone. Very unprofessional and oblivious. Overall an above average experience. The floor staff clearly work hard and are generally knowledgeable, and do a nice job of anticipating many of my questions and needs. On the "down" side, I find that they cannot easily or correctly address more unusual problems (i.e. a store employee entered my cell number incorrectly into a company computer as part of the activation procedure...when I returned to find out why my phone failed to activate the women behind the counter began rattling off the standard replies before even examining the issue. Once the real problem was understood, these employees then seemed flustered and spent extended periods on the phone trying to undo the mistake. This seems to me like alot of activity devoted to such a simple problem.) read more

Dealt with a gentleman whose name is Eric in there. If I could give a 6 stars ratings, I would. I had a Blackberry that wasn't working properly. They were out of Stock, and I had to send my BB in for repairs. Knowing that was I was traveling, I was given a free phone, wall charger, car charger..... To use while traveling, and while keeping my BB.... They just took my word, that I'd return it when back.... Which I did!!!! Kudos for excellent Customer Service. read more

I first walked into this location a few years back. I was very upset. I walked in, spoke my issue and was met with a shaken employee whom promptly walked away. Then another employee tried her best to help me with my issue. Feeling possibly threatened she quietly waived the store manager over. The manager as well as the female employee actually calmed me down and settled all of my issues. I have been with Tmobile since they were voice stream and I have tried to deal only with that one manager ever since that day years ago. I have never had an issue that wasn't fixed before I even could think about getting upset, when contacting her. I wish I could give this location 0 stars....manager is so ignorant and never came over when she clearly knew i was having an issue. This is the 2nd visit to this store in 2 weeks just so happened to see the same employee for a defective screen protector. He on both occasions was so obsessed with changing the spotify songs he couldn't even put the cover on right. Then my visit today was of zero help claims my 14 day return was up um no sir last week to this week is 7 days....I left with still the 2nd defective cover on my phone and while he was of zero help then proceeded to hit on me ew gross so unprofessional. Says his manager would fire him if he exchanged my cover. Well you should be fired for totally putting it on wrong the 1st time, paying more attention to spotify then the customer, and being unprofessional. Over the weekend, Chicago experienced "high winds"....I guess that's out of the ordinary for Chicago. Anyway, I've been without cell phone service for 3 days because 36 towers are down. The only advice I'm getting is to turn the phone off and on, remove the battery, etc. Doesn't seem as if T-Mobile is too concerned about the problem. read more

This is a review for the man who sold me the phone. I forget his name, it's probably in my receipt, but he's short, overweight, and bald. I came here yesterday to buy the iPhone and my experience was great except for one thing, they duped me into buying Jump insurance. The guy who sold me the phone was going over the cost and he said it's $50 upfront then $25 a month x 24 months plus $10 a month for insurance. I asked him, "do I HAVE to have insurance" and without a stutter he answered "yes, while you're paying for the phone, unless you can pay for the entire cost upfront." and so I asked, "if I pay off my phone earlier, that's the only time I can remove insurance?" and he said "yes, definitely." I was tired yesterday and I don't have TMobile's policies memorized so being a good customer who's always been satisfied w/ TMobile, I agreed. But this morning as my head cleared I looked up the policies online and it's definitely NOT mandatory. So I called to have it removed and the representative on the phone apologized profusely. I still love TMobile but if you ever go into this store, beware the fat bald man trying to sell you insurance! read more
