Low end customer service. I just went 15' before they close with a simple question, and this guy just tried to brush me off. He started helping someone else in the middle of me asking him a question. The customer actually apologized to me because he did not intend to get in front of the line. I've been a loyal Verizon customer for 12 years and have always had great experiences, especially with manager Jack. However, today I faced a frustrating situation. I bought a car phone holder, followed the setup instructions, and drove off after tossing the packaging. Unfortunately, the adhesive didn't stick and kept falling off after just five minutes. I tried the alternate adhesive, but it had the same issue. So, I returned to the Verizon store in River Forest on Lake Street, hoping to return the item, but they refused. The district manager didn't even take the time to listen to my experience and immediately said no, showing no consideration for my situation. In my 12 years with Verizon, I've never encountered such poor customer service. Thankfully, I called Verizon customer support, and they were helpful as always. However, I cannot recommend this store, as the district manager treats customers like numbers rather than loyal patrons. When I asked for her name, they refused to provide it. The representative mentioned she would get in trouble for accepting my return, even after I showed her that the adhesive was faulty. This was a $43 purchase, and their suggestion was to buy another adhesive. Why should I have to spend more when I expect the original product to work as intended? If you can, go to another Verizon and avoid the store. You are nothing but a number to the district manager. read more

Good customer service is very hard to find these days and I got excellent service from Shay. She was very nice and helpful. I had no issues nor did she make it difficult for me to get a new phone as I have a family account. I dread getting a new phones because it takes hours and seems like never ending process but this is probably the first it felt effortless and easy. Thank you again Shay for your help! read more

I rarely, if ever, write a review. These guys quoted us a price (Leo and Jack) and then had some other guy jack the price $400 AFTER the phone data was transferred, the original guys had left, and the store was closing. It was classic bush league sales tactics, knowing that we were leaving town early the next morning and had already erased our old phones. Specifically, all we needed, wanted, and ordered was a 128 gb iPhone, and they told us at the end of the sale all they had was 256 gb, meaning $100 more per phone or $400 total. Then the new guy kept pretending he couldn't reach Verizon and the "discount codes aren't working", blah blah. I ended up doing what they hoped for because I was in a pinch at closing time Saturday night, paid them and will never go back for anything. Don't waste your time, these guys are why sales people can be the punchline for a joke. read more

I had had very good professional service at the River Forest Illinois location in the past. That changed the other day. I went in and couldn't identify the employees. They were poorly dressed. I almost left because the entire group looked sketchy. Turns out the guy wearing the stocking cap and dirty shirt was the sales person. Completely unacceptable customer service. I ordered a new iPhone online for pickup here, only to find out they sold the phone I had reserved to someone else. They offered me a replacement in a different color, which was an acceptable solution so I went to the store. Upon arriving at the store I was told I couldn't take the new phone without activating it. The specific user of this line was at work so it wasn't a good time to activate it. I asked the associate if he could hold it for the next morning and was told they could definitely do that. Frustrating, but again, fine. I showed up at the agreed upon time today only to find out they had sold the phone they were "holding" for me. ?!?!? The Manager, Jack, explained that there was another system glitch, and that because someone else had paid for the phone they had to give it to them. His solution was to offer us a more expensive ($200 more) phone. What a deal! He continued to blame system issues for the problem and did absolutely nothing to try to rectify the situation in the appropriate manner. Our other option was to wait for them to order one. If was ok with that I would have done that in the first place and avoided this location to begin with. So yes, maybe you have a great experience here and everything goes smoothly, but it's honestly not worth the risk. read more

After a dreadful experience at a Verizon corporate store, I ended up visiting this retailer on the Fourth of July holiday. The lone salesperson was the manager Jack who deftly handled my purchase and set-up my phone, while attending to four other customers who wandered in. Jack was patient and informative, and delivered super customer service where the other store failed miserably. While I felt sorry he was stuck handling the whole place by himself on a national holiday, he was the consummate professional, answering questions and problem solving with apparent ease. One more thing: while I suspect my new iPhone 12 did not need a new jack, I agreed to try the one that was recommended and it's given me a lightning fast charge. Anyway, got such a good Verizon deal on my trade-in, can't blame the upsell on the accessory. read more

My iPhone 6 stopped recharging, so I stopped by hoping it could get fixed. But instead of walking out with an old phone whose memory was full, Jack set me up with a brand new phone (iPhone SE 2) with 4x the memory of my old one, for less than $150 including tax and screen cover. It pains me to write this, but after two extremely disappointing visits to this Verizon authorized retailer in 2021, I feel a need to outline how far customer service at this location has declined. As a Verizon customer since 1992 and a patron of this specific store since 2005, I have purchased all of my recent phones here, save one (and the Costco deal I went for, I found out later, was available here as well). VISIT 1: In January, I stopped in to add a user to my Verizon account, but discovered upon arrival that I had lost my driver's license that morning. I had a myriad of credit and credit cards and my gym ID with my name on them available, but had left my passport at home. The rep insisted that he could not help me at all without a valid DL, even though I told him the correct PIN for the account ("Someone could have told you that," he sniped in response.) Frustrated, I left the store, got a new DL that week and vowed never to come back to a store that had provided premium service for more than a decade. VISIT 2: In early October, my daughter and I came back to the store just to see if an Apple iPhone 11 was available for her upgrade. We entered, and the lone rep was helping two people (a Dad and his Son, it appeared). He made no acknowledgement of our presence as I stood near the entrance and my daughter took a seat for about 20 minutes. No "Hi! Be with you shortly, please have a seat," -- no nothing -- as he twice went into the back room and back to the kiosk near the front where he was helping the current customers. Four other customers came in and left, although he did nod at an elderly couple who entered and departed when it became clear he was working alone. What galled me was that he proceeded with the sale in progress even after the Dad said he didn't have a DL or a debit card on him, indicating that some people don't need IDs to spend hundreds of dollars on a Saturday afternoon. We departed without saying -- or hearing -- a word. Then we went to another authorized Verizon retailer (Melrose Park) and got an Apple iPhone 12 Pro within about 20 minutes, even as the manager Adam was helping another customer. We felt respected and appreciated, which clearly isn't a priority for these other stores. At some point, I will contact my former favorite Verizon store -- they will know my name in the system -- but I suspect the great managers and customer service employees I had encountered over the years have been moved to other locations. Purchased a phone here prior to moving overseas and was given completely inaccurate information by the employee. I was told "Verizon never locks phones" and that there was no way for Verizon to hold my phone number while I am overseas and using an international number. Both of these are not true. Verizon locks all new phones for 60 days after purchase and there are options for suspending a line and holding your phone number for up to 3 years and 3 months. Now I am having to deal with this while overseas and on a completely different timezone than Verizon's customer service. I would not trust information the people who work here give me regarding my phone or my phone plan again. Recommend you spend the extra 10-15 min and drive to a better store. read more

Initially I was going to rate this store higher until I read over my receipt. My husband and I worked with Brian Z to switch over to Verizon. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and helped us through switching to Verizon. We purchased 2 phones, 2 cases, and 2 screen protectors. Brian indicated he would give us a bundle deal on the accessories. He verbally told us that one case would be $30, the other $20, and $10 for each screen protector. So we agreed to get them. He told us our total. We knew we had to pay taxes and fees so we didn't question it. Now that I am home and read the receipt, Brian over charged us. Even with the discounts I paid almost $140 for the 4 accessories. I have attempted to call the store and cannot get an answer. We had plan to return and purchase two phones from this store for our children. I will not return since they are experts in being deceptive. read more

This store is basically no different than any other retail franchise that only survives by by signing up new members and upgrading those whom are already a customer, so aside from my being convinced that my upgrade would not only lower my Verizon bill and I would have a better experience with the Samsung over the highly over rated iPhone, neither is true. My bill is higher and my experience is still shifty - which happens to be Verizon, itself and the main reason for my call today. I've been a customer of Whoreizon for over 2 years - tell me how the largest cell phone provider in the world has a shitty system that does not operate or recognize my number even though I've had the same number for 2 years? When I called last night I was told that "the system is down but will be up again at midnight" wow isn't that convenient? It's 9:00 AM so obviously that's not a help. I can't sign in because the system doesn't recognize my devise even though I've made 10 payment from this exact device and for the same phone number for over 10 months. Horrible experience. I purchased a hum device for my car which was supposed to cost $10 a month based on the plan I got. After using the device for 2 months I got a bill for $65, I called customer service many times (45 mins wait minimum each call) and came into the store many times. The guy, Jack who sold me the device promised to call me back and agreed that it was the $10 a month plan that I got and that the bill is wrong. One week later the device has been disconnected, when I call the store from my phone it goes to voicemail so I now MUST physically go to the store (which I have done many times, to say the same thing and nothing has been done). Now, in addition to the fraudulent $65 charge, I have a $20 "reconnection fee". I am currently at the store writing this review where I was asked to have a seat and I have been waiting for 30 mins pointlessly, despite the fact that the store closes in 5 minutes. Now I have been told that my bill IS WRONG but I must pay it. However they will leave (another) note for Jack. This has been a COMPLETE waste of time, money, and overall horrible experience. read more

I bought a new iphone last week at the this store. Alex was great! She wrote down all my new and monthly costs on paper, based on which selections I chose, and showed me what my overall monthly bill would be with taxes. I really liked that, because my last experience buying an iphone in Seattle resulted in a higher monthly bill with extra costs that were not explained to me at the store. Alex, and trainee Jack made this experience, easy and fun and I was in and out of the store in just a short time. I highly recommend this Verizon store. read more

I walked into the Verizon store to get a phone order by my business partner. There were customers a head of me but the associate Brian never acknowledged me or my wife. We were in the store for minutes Brian said anything to us. Once he did and I told him what I was there for he got the phone throw it on the counter. When I asked him if he could transfer the information he told me no and I should to try google. We have this business account with Verizon for over ten years and the associates always take the phones out of the box and take time to show you how to use the phones. If he asked us in the beginning what we were there for we didn't have to sit there. I hope someone from Verizon see this and checks the camera to verify. read more

However, they are unwilling to provide excellent customer by replacing a phone that no longer charges that is still under their-Verizon - contract. I went yesterday switching from T-Mobile to Verizon. I got the last gold Note 5. Samsung had a promotion going with TCC enabling me to get a $50 credit. Ka-ching Ka-ching. Jeremy transferred all my data, apps etc with no problems. I was there for about 2 hours & he suggested if I had any errands during the transfer I could run out & handle it. I didn't & it was cool because we talked & joked; with the other workers chiming in when they were free. I went back today because I forgot the brochure they gave me for Dish network with more joking & a lady customer joining in on the fun! Great energy & great place to change to Verizon read more

Received excellent (but quick) guidance of how to use the phone upon activation. however, there was a problem with the rebate due to the difference of the purchase and activation date. the phone was not ready when purchased, so I came in a week later to activate it. actually, a mishap, but recoverable. the manager, Joey indicated he would follow-thru with the TCC rep to Verizon. he asked for 2 business days to get back. he did not get back to me, and when I call the office, no answer. the morale: do not purchase the phone when not activating it the same day -- if you are completing a rebate. and, do not trust the office for follow-up. read more

Jack and his staff is one of the best I've ever dealt with in the phone industry. I was there switching phones and it was taken a while because I had to back up my phone. I noticed how they treated every customer that came in the door and the ones on the phone. I also saw how he dealt with an issue with a customer that was hateful for no reason. This customer on the phone was rude because I overheard the conversation. Then when they came in there were extremely hateful and Jack handled it with grace and happiness. I know most people want to leave negative remarks it's the only time they get on a review site. I wanted to make sure to get on here and to explain I was there for almost the entire day and this is one of the best Verizon stores I've ever been in! It's sad during these crazy times people are still hateful but Jack and his staff handle the situations I saw that day with the professionalism you need to half. read more

Their website and voicemail say that they open a 9 am. The paper taped to the door says 10. But at 10:30 they are still locked and dark. Waited a while outside in the rain with a couple other customers. Nobody ever showed up to open the store. We are headed to the Berwyn Verizon store which is an actual Verizon store and not just an authorized retailer. (BTW, the signage on the store is misleading. They are not run by Verizon but by a separate company. You must read the fine print on the door to know that.) read more

First time visit at this Verizon store (didn't know it was here). I've been wanting to change from my pay as you go phone to a "real" cell phone. My Blackberry is constantly going out, doesn't ring, doesn't notify - I'm always pulling the battery so that it will reset. I know that the Verizon network is one of the few networks that a cell phone actually works in my brick and plaster walled vintage home. I decided to go directly to a store and talk to a person about what I'm looking for, what I don't need and what is the best choice for a Smartphone newbie. Jeremy was extremely helpful and answered all my "duh" type questions without being condescending. He wrote everything down and also gave me some suggestions on switching internet carriers also, (there isn't enough space to discuss AT&T internet service). He was very open about what all the charges would be initially and afterwards. It was a great experience and I left the store with a better understanding of data, web surfing, etc. on a phone. When my decision is made (Galaxy S4 is frontrunner) I will certainly go back to this store - everyone was very nice and knowledgeable regarding the different devices available. read more

This Verizon store was out of iphone 6s. Said they would order it and let me know when it came in. Meanwhile I found a Verizon store nearby that had the phone in stock and this River Forest Verizon store would not let me cancel the back order until the phone came in even though I asked to cancel it, no longer wanted the phone, and had not paid for it. They locked my account preventing me from purchasing a iphone at any other store that had them in stock. No reason given other than a refusal to unlock my account until the phone came in to their store and I refused the phone. So I'm without a phone, awaiting River Forest Verizon to receive their order. Terrible customer policy and terrible customer relations. Would advise customers go elsewhere. read more
