The other issue we needed to address was all the dirt was graded toward the house to accommodate escaping a window well underneath the deck. This actually caused 2 problems, the rain water would pool into the house and cause high humidity and sometimes water in my basement. Also, having the well under the deck was against fire code without some sort of hatch. So Roger helped me come up with a great solution to build a patio at ground level and up against the window well, and then have the deck step down to the patio. He helped me with the design and was very hands-on in helping me develop a patio/deck we really liked. It turned out great and looks awesome. He worked through the heat in July but never cut any corners. I know because I asked 100 questions and he answered them all for me. I can say the deck is perfectly level and probably bomb proof. The patio turned out better than we could hope for. I'll be coming back for some landscape work next year knowing Roger's pride in his work. Thanks man!

To say I shopped out the quoting process would be an understatement. Jeff's quote was very fair, easy to understand, and on the lower $ range due to not having the overhead of most other companies. In the end, I decided to go with Archwood for my project and I'm so glad I did. Unlike most other contractors who over quote and rush through the job to maximize profits, Jeff will take whatever time is needed to do the job right...period. Here is the thing that is pretty rare: he listens AND is patient. Any concerns I had along through the project as I'm anal when it comes to details and perfection and any changes I wanted to make during the project, he not only listened, but he made sure my concerns were completely addressed each and every instance. I can't speak highly enough of the character of this young man. In my case, he underbid my job with the time it took for him to complete this big project and because he went over and above on getting the job done right to my satisfaction, I gave him a 60% cash bonus because he flat out deserved it. We have a very large raised 3 story trex deck with rotting cedar railings. Called numerous companies for a railing replacement and the majority would only consider new deck replacement and were not interested, even though this was a big job. We were replacing the cedar with aluminum railings. Dan came by numerous times over a period of months during the planning stages to get us exactly what we wanted for a fair price. He secured samples, talked about the options, was prompt, professional and helpful in all ways. He was quite busy and at one point we assumed that the job wouldn't be done until the early spring. We were fine with that as we didn't need the use of the deck during the winter. Low and behold, here comes Dan and Bill in December ready to start. Permits were secured and no matter the weather those guys were out there working. Before long the rotten cedar railing was replaced with aluminum and look absolutely wonderful.
